Back in the 80's, when the U.S. and U.S.S.R. had 10x this amount, I was growing up about 30 miles from Damascus, Arkansas, where a Titan II missile exploded in a silo (the 9 megaton warhead was blown out the top and landed about 100 feet away without going off). Everyone was so used to constantly being under nuclear threat at that point, we all just kind of shrugged and went about our daily lives.

Nuclear weapons are extremely complex. I always thought Hollywoods portrayal of them was funny. People stuck in a room with a nuke as the timer counted down. Trying to shut it down by cutting the red or blue wire. You want to keep it from blowing up a city then beat it with a freaking hammer.

Russia is making these weapons as a defensive strategy. They can’t keep up with Americas offensive capabilities so they decided to make nuclear defensive weapons. So instead of wasting money on 5th generation planes or ships. They’ll make the Poseidon and sarmat which essentially ensures that those offensive weaponry that the United States has will never be used on them because there nuclear weapons are now so dangerous that we would lose. The Poseidon in particular is very terrifying. It can be launched and have an unlimited range because its a nuclear powered torpedo. So it can dive deeper than any submarine and go much faster. It can be programmed to hit any target whether it be Los Angeles or New York. And with new technology the idea is that they can make a tsunami weapon where the nukes are designed to make a massive tidal wave that can literally flood an entire city. Likely then hitting it with a nuclear cobalt salt bomb which will make the entire area uninhabitable for years.

Tsar bomba was just a political propaganda point. They found out that it is much more efficient and destructive to drop many smaller bombs than one big one. That is why The nuclear capable countries have few megaton bombs , it there is some, it's a leftover from the 70s. The biggest one right now is probably the Chinese DF-5 ICBM one at 5 MT. The US is the B61 gravity bomb at 1.2 MT. Russia have a bunch at 850kt. Putin claims to have a 20MT torpedo but their is no evidence of it. He also claims to have the best tanks, but you see what's happening in Ukraine. The Tsar Bomba wasn't anything special. The US and other countries with hydrogen bombs can produce it too or even bigger. All you need is a 3 stage fission + fusion and third stage of more fusion. The US biggest bomb was Ivey Mike at 10.5 megatons, that was an accident, it was meant to be 4 megaton. The nuclear scientists didn't account for the lithium fusing too. So building even a 100 megaton bomb is possible and not special but inefficient in delivery and destructive power. You just use more Lithium Deuteride which is the main fuel for a hydrogen bomb and a U238 tamper. Matter of fact the Tsar Bomba was meant to be 100 megaton, but they put a lead damper in it to absorb neutrons to lower the yield so the aircraft can escape and lesser the radiation fallout 25%. But like I said, it is more efficient and destructive that your missile carry a package of 8 -10 450 kt bombs that can target 8-10 different targets than one big bomb.

Russia's Tsar Bomba (AN602) hydrogen bomb is 50+ megatons. During testing it destroyed all structures within 34 miles of ground zero, anyone within 62 miles of the blast would have received third degree burns, glass windowpanes were broken out to 560 miles away.

It's a very different situation than it was at the height of the Cold War. In those days - which I lived through - at the peak, the USA and allies possessed 50,000+ deliverable nuclear devices of every imaginable kind against the Soviets' 60,000+ That was my world in 1984. An all-out nuclear war would have, very simply put, sterilised the biosphere. (Read "The Last Ship" (1988) by William Brinkley if you want a reasonably accurate insight into how that would have looked.) This situation is potentially terrible, and could lead to a strategic nuclear exchange. But, even if it did, the fact is that while most of the populations of the Northern Hemisphere would be essentially wiped out give or take a few million, most of the rest of the world would definitely survive. So, it's most surely an utterly terrifying prospect, but in 2022 it's not the end of "The" world. Just my world.

Look at the model forecasts post nuclear attack today in 2022. do you have any idea how many millions of tons of smoke and soot and carbon will be pumped into the atmosphere and block out the sun? Imagine every city in Europe and America at full firestorm all burning at once. The amount of smoke will travel up and on the wind around the world. While the population of The northern hemisphere will be gone. The Southern Hemisphere will have limited if any sunlight. Crops will fail. Livestock will die. People will starve. The lack of sunshine will reduce the temperature to the point that even the hottest places on earth will freeze at night. There’s no winner. And with America’s 1760 launch ready alert missiles the U.K. s 120 and Frances 200 plus 2000 from Russia all going off within half an hour today in 2022 is more than enough explosive power to put enough smoke into the sky to just about finish us all off.

That's crazy. Do a real time strategic examination of Russia's nuclear potential, and how much damage can be done in a 1 Megaton nuclear bomb. In reality, these things pop open, as the fall towards their targets. They splinter their payloads into smaller groupings, like a 4th of July large firework in the sky as it explodes. Each one of these wheel spokes is a 200 kiloton atom bomb from the parent payload. The volume the weapon's energy spreads into varies as the cube of the distance, but the destroyed area varies at the square of the distance. Thus 1 bomb with a yield of 1 megaton would destroy 80 square miles. While 8 bombs, each with a yield of 125 kilotons, would destroy 160 square miles. A Megaton is 1000 kilotons. A kiloton is 1000 tons of TNT. A Megaton then is 1,000,000 tons of TNT. The ton of 2000 pounds of TNT. Therefore, 2000x1,000,000 = 2,000,000,000 pounds of TNT. As was explained in the opening paragraph, the B. L. E. V. Y. (blast leveling equivalent value yield) of that just under 1 Megaton atom bomb is a total square mile area of approximately 1/2 of the total land mass of Pennsylvania. A 2 - missile strike, of this 9000 kiloton atom bomb type, is sufficient to destroy the entire State of Pennsylvania. Russia's largest nuclear warheads is 58 Megaton, called a Tzar Bomb. Russia has hypersonic missiles that travel at Mach 20. Mach 1 is 600mph, depending upon air temperature. That is approximately 3 miles a second. You would even see it as it flys by you. America cannot shoot those down To further complicate matters, the best time to shoot down the middle is when you're with in close range and can hit it before it reaches the upper atmosphere. When it pops open, it's impossible to stop all of the splintering shells containing those 200 kilotons payloads. In other words, We're Going To Be Toast. All of the United States of America is Going to be Toast. Not just one or two cities. The entire land mass area will become a gigantic mushroom farm of atom bomb explosions, all at once. Russia has a 6,257 atom bomb stockpile. Just that one 58 Megaton has enough nuclear energy in it to make enough, 200 kiloton bombs to do the job just described. Russia has two super sized super gigantic massively payloaded nuclear missiles, called Satan I and Satan II. When one of these falls, it blasts enough splinter bomb fragments in every direction to take out the entire East Coast, not just Washington DC. A win win scenario is impossible.

It means assured destruction of all 29 small NATO members in case of the nuclear war between two giants- USA and Russia- is that clear to people in small non nuclear NATO states? Such an catastrophic event is far more likely to happen than it was prior the war in Ukraine. This is USA´s cold-blooded strategy: Whichever small and non-nuclear NATO member does not mind absorbing a good part of Russia´s devastating nuclear power instead of USA´s cities should remain a NATO member and wait untill that they would come. Such a brainwashed nations like Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and so on.. are going to be praised(by USA) for remaining a NATO members of course, since they are waiting for warheads which otherwice would explode above USA´cities ! The entire U.K. needs to watch the movie THREADS How can we be talking about a Third World War when the U.K. has no provision for the protection of the civilian population. There are No fall out shelters, no bunkers or bomb shelters. No air raid siren network anymore either. Most of the local government bunkers have been sold off or turned into museums. No nuclear government or military bunker in the U.K. is capable of surviving a direct hit from a high yield thermo nuclear weapon. Including Pindar 12 stories below the MOD. Or the corsham central war headquarters, or RAF high Wycombe or neatshead. We have bunkers but not deep enough to be of any use. N O N E. The royal yacht which the royals are supposed to be evacuated to in a nuclear war is decommissioned. The U.K. has zero missile defence capability. Zero anti ballistic missiles like we had in the Cold War.we have nothing. Our 6 anti air naval destroyers are not capable of intercepting and shooting down ballistic missiles. So talk about using them to protect London is fantasy. So we have no defence no preparations no shelters no bunker. In such conditions how can we possibly ever entertaining fighting the Third World war? Suggesting we do is akin to suggesting we commit mass suicide. The U.K. is tiny. Little more than a dozen Russian warheads on the U.K. could kill 50 million. In half an hour. If any government minister escapes or any general survives in an airborne command post, they will quickly realise survival was futile as There won’t be a population left to govern. The few remaining survivors will be dead within a month from radiation poisoning and starvation.

How does it compare? Considering the fact that the United States spends more annually maintaining and upgrading it's arsenal, than Russia spent on it's entire military in the last 10 years...the global concensus is that about 10-20 percent of Russia's aging and poorly maintained missile stockpile would actually reach it's target and create fission. Most would fail to launch,as the solid fuel needs to be replaced regularly, and in Russia, it's not. Some would simply explode in the silo. Some, with pre-1990 guidance would land nowhere close to where they're aiming...and out of those, most wouldn't detonate.10-20 percent is still a lot of destructive power, but their capabilities are nowhere close to what they boast. That's not my opinion. That's not the United States' belief. It's the global conclusion all the nuclear countries combined

@@ddmddmd I said this 2 days ago. What's the breaking story this morning? That 60 percent of Russian missiles in Ukraine failed to launch. The 40 percent that did manage to launch, half of those failed to explode on impact. But I get it.... you're right and everyone else is wrong.Any reason to believe if their conventional arsenal is this ineffective, that something they never are going to use would fare any better?

If Russia is striked by NATO, it will use 10 or 20 or 30 lower-yield tactical nuclear warheads to stop the invasion, that way Russia will 'de-escalate' the conflict and thus successfully defend itself. It wouldn't destroy the delicate balance of our planet's ecology, it would only destroy NATO, which is the most dangerous poison of our planet.

@@takoto2610 You are ignorant. At some point Moscow and New York and London and St. Petersburg and all military bases in the northern hemisphere will be bombed with nuclear weapons, and that will be the very end of the northern and probably the southern hemisphere.

@@tom7471 No, limited nuclear war in Europe which only tactical nuclear warheads are used only against military targets is possible. You should know that Russia has 2000 tactical nuclear warheads (along with sophisticated delivery systems, like cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles... etc), while NATO has only 200 and those are 'dumb' gravity bombs B-61, so an aircraft, like F-16 or F-35, has to fly directly over a target and drop a B-61 bomb on it.

@@realnapster1522 not really. One of the problems with Japan is that there was no real unity with their armed forces and government. So yea you had members who wanted to surrender but wanted to make overtures to the Soviet Union so it doesn’t have to be a unconditional surrender but there were other members who were willing to fight to the end.
