A new video from the Autism Family? Made my day! Thanks for the update! I'm an autistic adult and see parts of myself in each of your three boys. Been watching your videos and following your journey for a long time now and finally decided to become a patron. Your channel is truly one of the best autism channels out there and you deserve all the support. Keep up the amazing work. All the best to you and your awesome family! Also how cool that Connor is not only into math, stop-motion animation and playing the piano but also into learning languages now! What can't Connor do?😄 (not to trivialize his struggles with his autism of course, this was more meant as a joke, but it is very impressive!)

I’m glad y’all are doing great, for me i felt like 2023 into 2024 have been very difficult for me mentally im still doing alright but not the best i could be feeling. Most of the problem is school i have had negative thoughts on it for years but no matter what people tell me they can’t do anything. It got really bad for me in late 2023 I had started to have bad ocd problems but it’s gotten lots better. But a part of it is that I’m still growing up and still trying to live in this world.

Connor’s getting a lot better at piano now. I would also like to see more footage of Ian playing drums. I’m also a trombone player in 3 ensembles which I enjoy and also my classes just ended and my work integrated learning at goodwill is done which means I have to return to Job Finding Group which is disappointing but at least I have good experience now. Yesterday I also went on a long bike ride around the neighbourhood with my friend who lives really close to me.

My CRF150R just got fixed...until the Honda Helix cline carb went out, then we got a clone CRF150R clone carb, nope. Throttle cables...not worky. But, here lately my autism is getting more noticeable yet again. And, I've been getting sick. Went to the ER, I have a possible ulcer, few days later, strep from the hospital. But, now my endoscopy is next Monday. I wish that everybody was kinder to special needs kids, unlike at our school, everybody talks about them badly behind their back. Then, you have 5th graders, hate me for whatever reason. Mumbling gibberish and she went on "I do not care". Was not even talking, bet if I had surgery or stayed in the hospital, they would not care and not notice. Be kind folks, you do not exactly know what goes on in peoples minds:). Get better soon!

Autistic adult here. I realize that there are likely other autistic adults out there who may have criticized you for "making your kids' disabilities your identity," but I personally admire your involvement in your childrens' unique minds and simultaneously sharing it with us. I truly believe that you are setting your children up for success by not only extensively understanding autism yourself, but helping guide your children using this knowledge. It is unfortunate, but I do believe that the whole 'autism mom' trope largely stems from the fact that most of us lack autism dads. Even though you are a complete stranger to me, I can tell that you are one of the few who deserve that title simply by listening to your kids and comparing them to how I was around their age. Despite my own personal lack of support (I wasn't diagnosed until 31), I am on track to getting a PhD. Continue fostering your childrens' unique brains and I have little doubt that each one of them will have a bright future.

I'm so sorry for Ian, when i was about his age i would get really obsessed by some similar things to. Even car related actually! It drains so much Energy but at the same time its sensory energy seeking and a obsession.. its still the best thing for the parents to tell him that its not really okay to be so obsessed by that, en help him to learn relivate things. Help him think more deeply about his thoughts. What he thinks, why, what is the outcome, how does it effect his emotions and energy levels,... Try Teach him to find balance in those things. Sometimes even getting strictly to the point and just telling him that ist not normal and not okay to be obsessed like that. As a kid my parents did this very often. It made me a bit sad and unsecure sometimes, but made me well realize i needed to change my behavior and thinking. I was very much like Ian i must admit, but my obsessive thinking went much better later on. I still have some periods now, but I'm very aware of it and i kind of control it in a good way now. Its important Ian learns that its not really an okay thing to let the obsession take over daily life and conversations or struggles. Thats the point he needs to recognize and redirect himself a bit. Its okay to be fascinated and a little obsessed but it must be in a controlled order. Much love for Ian! But as a mechanic myself, with 10 years of experience as a hyundai mechanic i can say that toyota is the number one hahaha. But both are well made cars for sure 🙏

I'm so glad you're all doing so well. I'm just curious is Ian still using ambilify or risperidone? I'm a father to a 6 year old autistic boy and he is showing lots of the same behaviours as Ian was when he was younger. As we're in the UK it's taking a long time to go through the process with the NHS to speak to someone who can prescribe such medications - but we're just curious about ians experiences with either ambilift or risperidone. Also, thank you so much for your videos. We as a family have found your videos incredibly helpful and reassuring whilst bringing up an autistic child in the UK. Thank you!

Hi. This is not about the subject of this video, but I don't know where to contact people to talk about this. I've notticed that my mother's migraines triggers are similar to my autistic meltdown triggers. My sister and a lot of members in my mother's family has had migraines, I don't suffer from that. I watched the video about migraines posted on the "Herbs with Rosalee" KZbin channel and started trying that herbal treatment for migraines to see how it affects my meltdowns. I haven't even had time to find if feverfew is making its preventing effect or if I'll need to try the next preventive herb on the list. But for the short time effect, using ginger as prescribed in the video (2 tablespoons of powder in a glass of water when you know the migraine will come, or the meltdown, in my case) is doing miracles at aborting the meltdown. And two tablespoons is not a tasty amount, a sprinkle on your food is not the same. There are more details in the video about when a second dose might be needed. When a meltdown is starting it can be hard even to accept that it is happening and prepare yourself the ginger drink, but if you see it working one time you are more willing to recognize when you need it again. The full treatment explained in the video is a years long project, maybe you won't try the whole thing but just one of its tips. It would be really interesting for me if someone can already tell me, or after some time after having tried something from the video if you have any experience relating autism, migraines and/or herbs.

I wanted to note that having a special interest/hyper fixation isn't a bad thing on its own. I think maybe trying to guide Ian into maybe not getting so upset about the honda/toyota thing could help but being obsessed with it inin of itself isnt a bad thing. Its a good thing for autistic people to have special interest as long as its not harmful to themselves or anyone else. - an autistic person:)
