From the US? No. The problem isn't Monterrey. It's driving through Nuevo Laredo or Matamoros with US license plates. Particularly if you're not hispanic. Also, if it's 4 wheel drive fucking forget it man you will get jacked the Cartel loves 4x4's. Even the police will rob you. It's the wild west. Don't kid yourself it wont be all good. Fly there. Rent a car at the airport to get around. Seriously dont fuck around in northern Mexico or your ass will find out.@@alliwantedwasahellcat9565

I think my city is definitely underrated. It is now the second largest metro area in Mexico beating Guadalajara. Lots to do if around here you enjoy nature. Good food scene and night life as well. I would say if you stay in upper middle class areas the safety is quite high. Good overview!

@@wanderingdoc5075 anywhere in San Pedro is really safe and there are a bunch of gated communities all over the city that are safe with rents only around $750 USD -1000per month , Cumbres area, the area near Tec de Monterrey, Contry, Carretera Nacional , gated communities in Apodaca or Escobedo. Avoid middle or working class neighborhoods (non gated) in Escobedo, Apodaca and Santa Catarina . San Nicolás has really nice areas too. All of these are municipalities in Monterrey metro area

Monterrey has two types of homes, Mexican style and modern European style. And that's it. Adobe homes which are very cool in the summertime and warm in the winter are laughed at. And are becoming very rare. I would like to build a hybrid adobe European version. My father side is from Monterrey, well actually from "el rancho." It's so laid back. I'm so tempted to sell all my junk and move there. Plus my aunts and cousins cook for me, so that's a plus.

You’re gonna be cold over there in the winters & melt in the summers. It snows up on the mountain ranges. In the summers YOU NEED THE AC, I don’t care who you are!!!! I lived there for 3 years in the late 90s. Beautiful city, when you see it from the heights at night. The flashing transmitter towers up on some of the cerros give the city a nice touch at night. & like the lady said, La Estansuela is also a beautiful place, that I remember fondly.

I’m glad you like the place. I saw some videos from a user in 4K, and I was quite disappointed, when he pointed to the Cerro De La Silla at night. I didn’t see the tele/radio transmitter up there flashing. Does it still flash at night, or is the Camera not picking it up????

@jdrs4214 i lived right at the foot of the entrance to cerro de la silla. Magnificent mountain indeed. Climbed it about 3 or 4 times to the towers. I live in Ohio but visit Monterrey frequently !! I notice you talk about San Pedro all the time . Don’t get me wrong I like that area but you’re missing out on so much by only staying in the more expensive areas . The mercados , the taco carts , the people . I plan on moving there and I don’t want to live in the luxury areas . You should really open your mind to the other areas not just the high class ones
