i never thought of visiting monterrey until i met a woman from there here in houston here on a student visa and man was she fine, super nice and kept approaching me to go on dates. Took her out and she always offered to pay half. I then got curious and switched my bumble from houston to monterrey and got like 90 matches haha.

@@passlifepassport awesome! Yeah I'm planning on 4-6 months in Mexico, and I hear such great things about Guadalajara, Pueblo, and Oaxaca that it seems like I need one month in each. Your review is great but I'm afraid that Monterrey is too Englishized do you know what I mean expecially if you want to immerse a little bit more in Spanish. Do you have any thoughts on this? I also want to do two weeks in Puerto Vallarta and Puerto Morales. So I'm wondering if I should start with two to three weeks in Monterrey first before heading on.
@passlifepassport Жыл бұрын
You should start with Monterrey. It’s definetely not Americanized. Not even close. It’s a place that has more affluent Mexicans than other regions so with that comes safety and city cleanliness. It’s also not touristy so you can unwind and take it easy and enjoy.

Hey man, you've got me interested in Monterrey, for sure. I'm looking for a neighborhood that feels like La Condesa in Mexico City. That neighborhood is walkable, has lots of greenery and is pretty safe at all hours. Any ideas?
@passlifepassport Жыл бұрын
Yo, thanks. I’d say 2 places. Either “Centro” which the usual historic local part, but if you want more safer and upscale , San Pedro which is the suburb of Monterrey
@joehughes65354 ай бұрын
La condesa is way better. Much more walkable. A more culturally rich experience. Better weather (mty can be too hot). CDMX is also closer to other cool cities. CDMX way better than mty.
@wayne79364 ай бұрын
@@joehughes6535 Yeap! I went to MTY a handful of time between when I posted that question and now. And you're 100% right, La Condesa (and the surrounding areas) takes the prize. For me, a breaking point for MTY was the humidity. It triggers instant sweating for me.

As any city it is a rich area a middle class area and poor areas. In San Pedro area it is really good, maybe very americanized but it is safe overall and in general people in Monterrey have more money than the average mexican

That’s correct Edgar, but also San Pedro is not only a rich area in Monterrey, but it is known as one of the most affluent areas in all of Latin America.

Mexico is developing fast lately, i saw a nice infrastructure in cities like Chihuahua, Queretaro, Guadalajara, Merida, etc. And about safety, if you’re not related to cartels you will be safe, I’ve been there many times. The dangerous places are usually remote, like small villages far from everything.

Monterrey is not a 10/10, maybe a 7 or 8 in terms of safety. A 10/10 would be merida or Campeche. Also, mexico is just too Americanized at this point. The people remind me of gringos. Women are getting a bit too accustomed to foreigners. It’s not for me but I can see how some like it. Food is great. Shit when I’m in a third tier city that nobody goes to there I feel the American influence, let alone Monterrey. It’s basically Texas with a bit more of a Latin flare.
@passlifepassport Жыл бұрын
But most of the world is now updated with social media and technology and latest entertainments and fashion trends. Unless you’re going somewhere very remote , there is a bit of westernization present. Monterrey is much better then Texas. And not many foreigners go there. It’s got a bit of america feel , but it’s the good parts of America

Not many American cities are 10/10 in terms of safety either. The biggest cities are a hellwhole when it comes to security. Chicago, NY, LA, Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas, the list goes on and on.
