You know, sometimes we're in the need of friends and someone that understands us and cares about us, someone we can talk to and we don't have that person, but the work that you and people like you do, Carrie, just plays that role in our lives and helps us out, comforts us in a way that you can't begin to imagine. Thank you for being my friend today

Carrie. I can’t thank you enough for your words. This video brought me to tears, because you really spoke to my heart. And I realize your words are the inner dialogue I should have within myself. I have this notebook I bought a while ago, I wanted to use it as my new journal because my current one is almost finished. I think I’m gonna start it today, by talking about this #selfcaresummer, and setting good intentions for myself. Because I’m tired of hating myself and tearing myself down all the time. Sorry for this long comment, and THANK YOU. ❤️🌞

‘You can’t expect others to love you if you don’t love yourself’ - the very quote my own family drilled into my head for years and years. And yes it was very accurate, low self esteem gets you walked all over. Self-love may seem like arrogance/narcissism but it also eludes confidence and nothing is more attractive and inspiring to people than confidence. So learn to love yourself everyday, you will notice how much better life is when you do.

My biggest passion in life is friendship, which I think relates a lot to self love an what you discuss in this video! Throughout my life, nothing has made me feel more whole and worthy than my incredible lasting friendships. My friends and I support each other through absolutely everything. Helping my friends makes me feel so good, almost like I'm helping myself by proxy. When my best friend struggles with anxiety, I help her and tell her that the feeling will pass and reassure her that she isn't alone in her feelings. When I struggle with anxiety, I remember what I told my best friend and it becomes easier to work through it on my own. I think this is why it's so important to treat others the way we treat ourselves and vice versa- we're all human, we're all connected, loving and caring for yourself can help you to do the same for those around you :)

Regarding setting boundaries for yourself: I‘ve really lerned this recently because some members of my family constantly want to tell how I should live my life and always comment on what I‘m doing wrong in their eyes. In recent weeks I‘ve started subjecting myself less and less to their criticism simply by staying away from them. That sounds harsh and I really do love them, but I‘m in a much better mood if I don‘t give them the possibility to criticise me :) Plus, I‘m gay and while in an ideal world I‘d feel comfortable coming out to all the people in my life, I‘ve come to the conclusion that I don‘t want to come out to those particular people because I already know that they would be far from happy about it, so I‘m simply not going to give them the possibility to make me feel bad about something that‘s not actually bad :)

My biggest passion in life is writing! Literally ever since I learned how to read in first grade I‘ve had by nose in a book and even at that young age I already knew my dream occupation would be to write novels :) At the moment I‘m getting a bachelor‘s degree in british and american literature and I absolutely LOVE every second of it!

my passions in life are learning about other cultures and embracing them for being different and unique from the next. its so enlightening that we are all human yet we look so different and raised from different things. my other passion is making people laugh and seeing the smile i can put on their face because its so contagious to see someone else happy!

And you asked us what we are most passionate about - for me, it’s books (I LOVE reading and book shops) and moments with the people I love. I love nights out and spontaneous trips with my friends, or laughs with my family over food. I just love moments and I live for them.

I really needed this....I've been STUCK and feeling like i've just been "getting by" in life. I am nowhere near to having reached my true potential / passion. I love myself to an extant...but since I was a child, because of my learning disability, I have never truly felt smart. My insecurities and fear of failure have 100% inhibited me from finishing my degree, and moving on to greater things. Truly taking this advice to heart; Thank you so much Carrie Rad!

Wow wow wow! I saw that you posted this video from your instagram story and I immediately had to start watching it cause self-love is something that I somewhat struggle with. I am very happy with everything in my life at the moment and I am very happy with all of the opportunities I have had or are given in my life, but the one thing I struggle with is myself as a person! I have struggled with acne since freshmen year of high school & I am now a sophomore in college and it hasn’t gotten any easier on me! I look at myself in the mirror some days and say, “Wow I look good today” but I also have those days where I look in the mirror and say, “Why do I have to look like this? Im so ugly, nobody likes me.” But when I watched this whole video I immediately felt at peace! I felt a little more self love within myself and I remembered that my acne will soon be gone & I will one day always look in the mirror at myself and say, “Wow I look good today!” I feel that because I struggle with acne I feel like I am ugly at all times even when I put makeup on and this video helped me understand that I look beautiful anyway I look & I shouldn’t care what other people think!! So with all of that being said, THANK YOU, thank you, THANK YOU!! Thank you for helping me see the good in myself when I needed it:)

Carrie, thank you for sharing your advice! I've struggled with a toxic relationship with a member of my immediate family and I've felt quite guilty setting boundaries/cutting this person out. It's nice to get confirmation that boundaries are healthy even though they are challenging at times. These boundaries have improved my overall happiness and productivity. I hope those out there who are in similar situations will consider trying this self love thing and setting boundaries in toxic relationships. There's a saying, "do what's right, not what's easy." and I think it really hits home with some of the things you've talked about in this post. Thanks again!

Hi gorgeous Carrie! This video made my day. I have already sent it to my besties and my sister, as I want to spread the self care love! I need this in my life at the moment as I need to make some life changes. I recently moved back from two years in London where I felt my absolute happiest. Travelling, meeting new people, seeing beautiful sights. It was a dream. I’m back in my home country and I feel like I’ve gone back to where I was before. I don’t feel as inspired, I am not seeing new things everyday and I’m not writing like I used to. I feel like I’m in a rut. I think I need to learn from your advice about living life with intent and focusing on me. I feel like I”m just going with what everyone else is doing and I’m not happy. This self care summer will help me so much I think!

Thank you for this video! Ever since you posted it, I routinely return to it for a refresher. I’ve struggled with my self-image since I was in 4th grade when I began gettin bullied by boys for my appearance, and I must say, this Self Care Summer series has given me great comfort. My biggest passion in life has been recently discovered (I really had to think about this question because I’ve never really asked myself!), and it’s digital media and marketing, specifically within the beauty community. My ultimate goal is to find my place in the beauty community, really make a difference as a WOC, and most of all enjoy and take pride in the things I create.

Hi Carrie. First of all, I want to say thank you so much for making this video. It really resonates with me and I agree with people in the comments saying that you should start a podcast because not only are you truly an intelligent, wise, articulate individual, but you just radiate such kindness and compassion and thoughtfulness. I just wanted to say that for awhile now I’ve been constantly overcome with severe depression and anxiety and I keep holding myself back due to fear and lack of motivation. I am now just starting to get on the self-care wagon and give myself some grace but it’s just very difficult sometimes. I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate you taking the time to make this very raw and honest video because I feel like so many people need to hear your words, including me. It makes me feel like I’m not alone. Keep doing what you’re doing, Carrie. You’re awesome. Much love :)

I feel that one of my biggest struggles with self love is that I am unsure of the things I am passionate about. I end up questioning myself and not feeling like I am good at any one thing in particular. It’s hard watching people grow up around me who have such clear visions of their passions when I feel like o haven’t quite found mine yet.

It’s become so evident to me as of lately that time on this Earth is so precious, and to never take it for granted. I’m passionate about being a bridge. I want to be able to connect myself not only to those around me but with complete strangers in a more intimate level. We are all human and we all have our own problems that we bottle up inside because we feel as if we go through so much in life alone. When we forget that everyone is going through this journey that we call life together and sometimes need to lean on each other for the good and the bad. I have always wanted to be inseparably close with my family who I grew up away from and also be a friend whenever someone needs it. This video resonates so much to me because I hope to strive to live with the same compassion and empathy that Carrie just showed in this very video. This passion of mine branches off to my other desires as to why I want to travel more, visit family, and to be involved in my community. In order to do this, I must cut ties with the toxic relationships that I currently have as painful as it is in order to encounter genuine ones. I have to love myself fully before I can love anyone else fully.

Loved this video! I was feeling like a total failure and a total mistake myself. Felt totally worthless, coz my family and office bosses thought and made me feel like it, even though I knew I did most of the genuine work, At home I do everything but rarely appreciated but found fault in everything that I eventually became bad at what I can do. Hi Carrie! I just want to say that I loved this video, it feels super natural. I can see that you speak from the heart and experience. Sunday morning, a cup of tea and your words were a great way to start my day. My passion is stories, whether that is writing one myself or making others fall in love with a tale. I do that by making recommendations about movies, tv series or books. I enjoy it so much when others answer me gratefully for making them watch something special that resonated with them. When the connection happens and there is an exchange between me and someone else through a story...that is the best part about my passion and hopefully, about my job. Since I love traveling so much I am also trying to mix it up and talk about cities I've visited and the movies that were filmed there. It´s so much fun! Thanks for the video. I look forward to watching more of #SelfCareSummer! Lots of love, Brenda

Carrie, you are so unique and your message is equally inspirational and thought provoking!! I base a lot of my feelings on faith and seeking peace and like you mentioned, disconnecting yourself from what causes you strife, even if it's those closest to you, is important. At the end of the day, we are our first priority and we need to make sure we are fulfilled and not care what others whose intentions may not be the best, think about us. We all have a different purpose in this life, even if it might seem unconventional, and we need to seek it and embrace it free from judgement. We all go through different struggles and inner tranquility is what we all deserve to have, no matter our environment. I resonate with a lot of the things you said in this video and am looking forward to learning more from you throughout this series. Thank you for sharing your heart with us!! 🤗💖🙏

UGH THANK YOU CARRIE! I totally needed to hear this. I can definitely relate with you on not feeling worthy enough to experience or have something, and also over thinking things. I still to this day replay conversations in my head, whether it's at work or a lunch date, I always think about what the other person thought of me at that time. Was I funny? Interesting? Worth seeing again? Should I have said that? Sometimes I would pressing questions and topics I want to talk about prior to meeting with someone. Is that crazy?! 😭 I'm still learning to just let those things go and stop beating myself up about it. I also internalize everything and invert things. So if something/someone upsets me, I'm upset for a little while but then I'm mostly trying to figure out what's wrong with me to have been known that place. Anyway, I'm rambling!! I really appreciated this video. Especially while I'm in a place of finding myself and my career and my passion. Thanks for continuing to inspiring me ❤️

I'm half way through but I had to stop and let you know how amazing is this chat, I feel so related to the things you're saying, I'm in a point where I am decluttering my life and I have found myself finishing a lot of "friendships" that weren't good for me... sometimes I get to feel a bit lonely but I know it's an act of self love. Finding people like you on the internet who share all their love for life, who share their amazing souls and their incredible point of view on the internet, makes me feel that I am going in the right direction and also makes this journey totally worth it! So thank you so much Carrie!! I'm so excited for seeing the rest of this video and the rest of this series! I know it's going to be amazing!

This video was a lovely reminder of something we all need more of, you're such a wonderful person Carrie! My passion is all things music- writing, recording, performing, every part of it lights me up. I also have a passion in life to learn and in the last couple years have been craving to learn more and more on self care and self love. Your videos were one of the things that started me on this path and now I have so many resources from KZbinrs to podcasts to books and more that allow me to keep developing this skill. It's addictive-finding awareness and growing as a person- keep doing what you do, it's inspiring :)

I'm so happy you've started this series, Carrie. June is looking good! :) My passion in life is being with the people I love and sharing moments with them, showing love, receiving love - I know how cheesy that sounds but when it all comes down to it, what else do you have in life but the people you love? Family comes in all shapes and sizes and it's a great thing that we can create our own. I'm also trying to be kinder to myself and be more mindful. It's a tricky journey but even the smallest achievements in practising those things feel so good. I had a baby almost two years ago now and it really threw me through a loop physically, mentally, emotionally - you name it! But it's been such an eye-opening journey into pretty much every aspect of my life and it's when I really started paying attention to self care because I realised how important it is. So looking forward to what you've got coming next :D

I think I'm redefining my biggest passion in life. I had been very focused the past few years about helping and inspiring others and although I'm still passionate about that, I forgot about me. I've made this year about learning to love myself but it's easy to get caught up in everyday life and push it aside. I love tip to live with intention, it's something I need to do more of!

Love this so much 💜 I always admire how you're able to set a warm and friendly tone to your videos and how well it translates to putting your viewers right at ease. It really feels like sitting down with a close friend - this sense of community that you build is so inviting and comforting. Kudos to you for seemlessly doing this magic 🧚🏼‍♀️ For me, this video is perfect timing because I am trying to cultivate a healthier relationship with myself. My passions are health & wellness and learning new things. My ultimate goal is to be a doctor but for now, I like to read, cook, take my dog on long walks, listen to podcasts, and have meaningful conversations with my friends. I'm a supervisor at work and I always try to make the people under me feel welcomed, appreciated, and understood. I love listening to other people's perspectives and being a mentor. People around me tend to open up and share their struggles and their wins but I'm often times a person that people feel they can trust and find support in. While I cherish this so much, I recently realized that I wasn't treating myself with the same care that I would offer the people around me. What you said in the video was super helpful and I completely agree - we need to let go of judging our past actions and stop the cycle of reliving these painful moments. As a psych major and neuro nerd, I can attest that thinking the same thoughts actually cause those same specific neural pathways to be reinforced. If we change our thoughts, we are literally changing the physical lanscape of our brains (granted on a very small scale). It is very much like you said, a type of muscle memory. This overlap between the mind and the physical brain is what I am most passionate about learning more about. Thank you for such a meaningful video this week, can't wait for the next one. P.s. will you be doing a video about mental health?

I felt so motivated when you were talking about following your dreams. I recently auditioned for Romeo and Juliet and was so nervous about it. I'm not a traditional Juliet, but I wanted it so badly. But then I got cast as Juliet! If I had assumed that I wasn't good enough and didn't audition, I never would have been cast! I had to have a certain about of self love to have enough confidence to audition and I'm so glad I did.

Carrie I loved this so much. It felt like I was sitting down listening to my big sister talk. What you said about over-analyzing conversations you had with people really resonated with me. I tend to over-analyze even the smallest interactions I have with people--even people I might never see again--because I just care so much about what people think of me. I'm hoping that that's something I can start working on throughout the month of June, and continue afterwards. Cheers to Self Care Summer!

I just want to say thank you for what you are doing! It is amazing! And now I can say that my passion is cooking, like I am not a chief but I really like the process of making something and I am really happy when it comes delicious. And I like to make food not for me but for someone, usually it is for my parents when I come home, but I hope that one day I won't be so shy to cook for someone else. And again, thank you for this series! XO

Books and reading and writing are my passion. I have an english degree, i just got a job at the biggest bookstore in canada and i'm 50 pages into my first draft of a book I actually want to publish. Going through a breakup after over 5 years has kicked my ass but i also think it may have been the best thing to ever happen to me because now all of my intention and focus is on me. 💕

Thanks so much for this video and this series Carrie. It has come at such an important time for me and I am sure many others too. June really is my month for self love. I’m seeking counselling, am trying to heal and learn self acceptance after an emotional trauma, and day by day am on my way to finding “me” again and what she needs. I already know this series will help so thank you, truly. Also, my passion is animals. And I have made this passion into my career as a self-employed pet groomer!

I've recently started watching your videos, but I absolutely love them and you've become my absolute favorite KZbinr! I've been working hard to become a more positive, happy person over the past year or two, and self-love and forgiveness is really hard for me to accomplish because I've spent so long surrounded by toxic friends that promoted self deprecation. Your videos are really helping me to become more positive and happy, and especially after this video, I'm planning on making travel videos/vlogs and possibly other videos on KZbin! I'm super passionate about sharing positivity, kindness, and the good things about the differences between different people. :)

X My biggest passion is travel, but not travel as in "one day in France and then lets go to Belgium', more I like to take my time and get to know where I am and meet the people there and hear their stories. So actually, come to think of it my passion is people, and travel gives me an epic backdrop. That does explain why I am studying teaching..xx

This is really great. Thank you for your wonderful talk. Self-care and self-love are really important things. Just today I was thinking... I should stop bringing myself down by thoughts like "I'm not the best" or "I'm not that beautiful/talented". Sometimes I say that to comfort my friends when something goes wrong for them, and I repeat it so many times that my body and mind now believe it wholeheartedly. But I've realized... there are things that only I can do, as you said, and when I step into the spotlight no one, in that moment, is going to do better than me. Just earlier in the week a teacher showed us a video about power poses and how they could help us boost our confidence. Because being confident in yourself is not being arrogant, which was something that I really struggled with as a child. I thought that if I was confident in myself I was being arrogant, and my friends just reinforced that feeling. Self-love is really a thing we must nurture constantly. Taking care of ourselves is very important. Thank you for this. One of my biggest passions is music. I love my instrument and adore playing, even though it's hard sometimes. I also love reading, traveling and of course, a nice, warm cup of coffee. What's yours? Looking forward for your next videos. Really excited for this series ❤🌺💐 Abrazos 😘
