While I was never a big fan of Marvel Comics as a kid, mainly watching the TV shows, I have the utmost respect for Stan Lee and what he did for the comic industry. More then that too is the fact that despite his age he is still so committed to comics and never went down the road of "I'm too good to do that." And then I have heard multiple times how Joan really saved Marvel from itself by encouraging Stan to do one comic the way he wanted rather then just the big fights and action like the higher ups wanted. I dare say it's because of what he did with the Fantastic Four that really set the bar for Marvel characters. My friend put it best when he said, "DC superheroes and heroes with secret identities, Marvel heroes are people who put on costumes and have powers."

It's annoying how much this video glosses over the work of Jack Kirby. I don't buy the line that Stan 'stole' the characters from Jack, that's not the case, all the evidence suggests they worked together. However, Jack was the artist and designed how most of the characters look. Kirby's style is still an influence how the Marvel films look even now, it was so strong and distinctive. I don't want to run Stan Lee down - his ability to play the media can't be underestimated in the story of Marvel's success - but Kirby is just as important. They were an amazing team for an incredible decade that made Marvel what it is.

Well Steve Ditko isn't really remembered mainly due to him never wanting attention in the first place, he was a really reclusive guy. He didn't really take alot of interviews and tried to avoid cameras. He's not popular because he didn't want to be popular
