The thing about Gilgamesh is that him being absurdly powerful was entirely intentional based on how the verse works. In Fate, the older the legend means the more powerful that individual will be and Gil is considered the oldest because The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest known story we have IRL. Because of this and given the legends that surround him, Gil is broken as all fuck. Despite that, his sheer arrogance means he hardly ever takes things seriously. Now all of this might make him sound like he's a boring character to see but Gil is actually one of the best characters in the entire franchise. Whenever he appears he tends to steal the spotlight and make you listen even if you despise him. As for his power, despite being called "the most powerful Servant", there are characters that are above him in sheer power like Sefar, Goetia, Zeus, U-Olga Marie and others. Hell, even characters weaker than him can potentially take him out. A prime example is Shirou who beat him through having Unlimited Blade Works which acts as a perfect counter to Gil's "Haha sword rain go brr" spam. The next thing is that some of the information in that video is kinda wrong or misleading. What Gil has in his gate are the prototypes to all the weapons that exist, not necessarily what that weapon became after his death. For example, he doesn't have the sword in the stone which is Caliburn. What he does have is a prototype sword that carries the same concept of "a sword which selects the King", that sword being Merodach. This also doesn't mean that they're "so strong the newer ones look like fakes". Actually, that segment about the new ones losing to the originals is strange since there are multiple examples in Fate of that just not being true. The example he used was even wrong. Final note, people tend to misunderstand what Gil's favourite sword being labled "Anti-World" means. He was mostly on point about the effect it has on the World and Reality Marbles, but Ea is not actually capable of destroying an entire planet. Anyways don''t know if you'll ever read this but I thought I should clear some things up. Oh and to answer your question, Gil has appeared in practically every major Fate work ever released. People adore the guy.

For gate yes it was used to be only having all the prototypes in original VN but as the series goes on its getting kinda ridiculous with gate keep constantly updating his treasury as he said against kiara in CCC and in his bond ce in FGO saying that gate keep collecting things even after gil death quoted "Also, the key to the vault can only be used by the King. The key will constantly change its shape, and the vault will constantly store new treasures."

Tbh honest Gilgamesh is one of my favorite fate characters, I have seen him in multiple fates. It all depends on how that specific part of the fate series portrays him. I started off with fate/zero and fate/stay night so I thought he was kind of a bitch at first but if you you start to watch others like fate grand order he become a very likable character.

There are servants more powerful than Gilgamesh, grand servants of course like King Hasan or Super Orion who are meant to oppose beasts of humanity to which even Gil can’t oppose. Then there are lostbelt servants who aren’t from the mainline fate universe but from the Grand Order universe where one said beast created pocket dimensions which hold alternate realities in them. These alternate realities hold even more broken and more powerful servants than even Gil. For instance there’s Arjuna Alter who is an amalgamation of all of India’s gods and whose Noble phantasm destroys and recreates the universe at his liking. Then there’s void Shiki who you really can’t call a servant but basically she’s the avatar of the root of all things ( basically god of the Nasuverse) and can just straight up remove universes or even reality itself at will if she so desired. Fate can be wacky in power scaling (especially grand order). But the series and spin offs are almost always great stories which have extensive lore and a lot of passion put behind them.

Except... these Servants are explicitly boosted compared to Servants. Comparing a normal Servant and a Grand Servant is honestly pretty dumb. Is like putting 2 pokemon together, but one of them got buffed until the system limit, then got Gigantamxed, maybe you even did a Z-Evolution, then you go "but look, he's totally stronger!". At that point you aren't even leveraging your power, you are just stating the obvious fact that Grands get a massive boost that is required for their reason to exist in the first place (facing Beasts). Next you'll tell me a level 1 is stronger than a level 99.

3:55 it becomes fair when you realize his cockiness and arrogance makes him not use the gates full potential, because in his mind, why would he? the only person he'll fight seriously is his 1 and only friend, which put the world at risk so I'm just glad he doesn't fight seriously all the time. 12:11 there is, he has the prototype in his Vault. He obtained it when his friend died and he went "oh shit, I can die too" so he went to the underworld and took the Herb of Immortality. Funny enough, when he was going back to his Kingdom, he saw a spring and didn't want to look like a rugged peasant to his people, so he took his time time clean himself. while he was doing his business, a snake ate the herb and shed its skin. stumbling upon the snake skin, and realizing the Herb is gone, Gilgamesh just laughs and accepted his fate and went back to his kingdom and becomes a wise and admired ruler. After dying and being placed in the Throne of heroes, a prototype of the Herb of Immortality was placed in the Vault of Gilgamesh, the potion of youth, it doesn't make you immortal, it just turns you back into a kid.

Theres no problem with it being "unfair". A good writer can give even the strongest of characters a hard time. His ego is his limiter. Even though he could beat nearly anyone, he rarely does. Because hes too arrogant to take anyone seriously until its often too late. This guy actually looses quite often. Also being the "first hero" and being the "strongest" go hand in hand. In fate lore the older something is, the stronger it is generally. Also the originals or prototypes for something are often given a boost compared to what came after it. Gilgamesh could be considered the prototype for a hero since he is the oldest known hero in history and his story came before any other hero like Hercules. Gilgamesh might not even be the strongest servant. Hes definetly a contender for strongest but theres others that can challenge him for that position. If you start including things like Gods, demons, aliens, grand servants, theres actually a lot of beings stronger than him

He pretty easily defeated Altera as well and she would have died without her masters help. He easily destroyed Iskander as well. He seemingly also defeated Alcides in Volume 9 without going all out as well. You could also argue that he demolished Artoria at the end of fate zero, although it wasnt much of a fight.

It's not like it is a sports tournament, it is a _War_ for a reason :V As for why he did that to Illya... well, have you seen the rest of the episode, or the show? Is kinda hard to answer a question you have no context for. Personally, I find it more childish to think something like Gil is childish. Like, this is a video about his powers to the exception or exclusion of any other context, whether it be the reasons for his power, his personality, his actions in the story, his opinions on things, anything besides his power. Categorizing him as childish, therefore, seems... weird? Perhaps reductionistic. Gil died because he let it happen. That question, honestly, gave me those "character are their powers, not their characters" kind of feeling. Maybe even he had a limit? Maybe he just didn't wanna live forever? Even if he could, why _should_ he remain alive? Gilgamesh is more than what his powers allow him to do. And there's simply no second strongest Servant. Fate doesn't use power levels. Unless the difference in strength is so absurd there's really nothing you can do, everything varies because everyone has weak and strong areas. Gilgamesh's strength, and that of anyone on his level, is exactly because of how variable they are. They can answer most situations you could forsee, they are good no matter the circumstances, shit like that. But simply, no one has abilities that are so encompassing. So even though there are obvious favorites that stand at the top of the tower, there's no "2nd" there's just, "these really strong dudes that have pretty good chances".

Also it makes total sense for Gilgamesh to be the strongest because the creator of Fate said the farther in time the heroic spirits legend is the stronger it is. This anime literally shows the gruesome part about war, it's unfair. The real kicker is Gilgamesh's "Luck" stat. The way "Luck" works in the Fate verse is that it increases ones "tendency to go against fate". For most people, it's kinda like one's odds and ability of getting out of and working around bad or "guaranteed" situations, but for Gil, it's hilariously reversed. He has a stupidly high luck stat, but because he's so ungodly OP most of the time, his luck actually works against him. He's so strong that he's "destined to win" almost all the time, so his luck to counteract fate kicks in especially hard frequently, which is why things don't go his way so frequently and he actually looses.

Can Gil be balanced? Yes, but it also depends...because Gilgamesh cares not for simple human rules. Why should he care about fairness and balance when he could just do whatever he wants? Gil is the "King of Heroes" and "The First Hero", of course he is broken af. Also, in Fate...there are many servants that are nearly as broken, as broken, or more broken than him (most of which are divine beings like he is). If you were read Indian mythology, you should know that nukes are like Lv 1 casual normie attacks. The appeal of Gilgamesh isn't his raw power. Rather it's his personality that steals the spotlight. He carries himself with egotistical self-assuredness because his belief that he's the strongest in the room is correct 999 times out of a thousand. Off the top of my head, the only Heroic Spirits more powerful than him are the Grand Servants that can only be summoned by the Counter Force itself. But Gilgamesh being so powerful follows the rules of the Nasuverse's magic system, in which the older something is, the more Mystery surrounds it. The more Mystery something has, the stronger it is. Because the Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest piece of literature and the template from which all other stories are derived in some form, it makes sense that of all Heroic Spirits that can be summoned by humans, Gilgamesh would be the most powerful. And while there are a number of Servants that in theory have a chance of defeating or at least stalemating him, like Artoria, Arjuna, Karna, Oda Nobunaga, and indeed Enkidu itself. Gilgamesh most often meets his downfall as a result of his own hubris. He constantly underestimates those around him and refuses to bring out his trump cards like Ea and the Chains of Heaven until it's too late. Gilgamesh's role can best be viewed in Fate/Zero. His battles there are few and far between. Instead, he sits on the sidelines drinking wine and commenting on the motives and personalities of other people. Particularly the Masters and the other Servants. This is best seen during his conversations with Kirei at the Tohsaka mansion, his interactions with Saber and Rider during the Banquet of Kings, and his final confrontation with Rider and Waver. This last one is especially noteworthy, as those two are the only ones that he shows genuine respect for. Compared to his own Master Tokiomi who he had no respect for at all and considered boring, and Berserker, who he considered to be nothing more than a rabid dog and attacked him merely for looking at him. Gilgamesh is a neutral observer who fits the Jester archetype. An outsider who sees what everyone else is blind to because he has absolutely no investment in what he's watching.

Yea Gil is quite a beast though he is funnily enough held back in the other series because the container that holds his power is too small. There are servants that can technically beat him called Grand Servants but they can only be summoned in certain situations and they have a much larger container. There are other servants that can be him though, 2 or 3 in particular can even fight him at his strongest point, as a servant at least. Some of the weaker servants have very OP abilities as well that often get overlooked. Assasin of black (there is a 'how strong is' video on them) is known to be super weak but they can insta-kill anyone as long as 3 conditions are met and they themselves have the power to set up one of those conditions. Point is, Fate is big and with that comes some ridiculous abilities. Also that armor you were looking at that interested you in the video is owned by Saber of red (I'm using these names to hide their real names just in case). Both the assasin and the saber appear in Fate/Apocrypha.

To be fair you have people like scathach and nobu who are some of the strongest counters to divine servants like gil. Artoria with Avalon and a few others are big counters to him as well but the series never really shows them

The funniest part is that Gil himself isn't even all that powerful. He's definitely *up there* in terms of strong servants, but he's not even a candidate for Grand status in either class he fits into. King Solomon, Merlin, Orion, and Alcides (Heracles as an archer) are all stronger than him within his own classes by a significant margin. Hell, Unlimited Blade Works is a direct counter to Gate of Babylon by nature and Heroic Spirit Emiya is far from being as powerful as Gilgamesh. Then you run into servants that just outright directly counter Gilgamesh, like Oda Nobunaga. One of Nobunaga's noble phantasms, Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, is a reality marble that summons forth the burning mountain of Mount Hiei and is meant to represent her legend as being the destroyer of Shinto and Buddhism. Within the reality marble Nobunaga is turned into a being that "holds absolute power against those with Divinity and Mystery." The reality marble is said to manifest as a scorching hellscape that is meant to represent the accumulation of the fear and revereance that people had for Nobunaga after death. Servants that possess high Divinity and Mystery, like Gil and Heracles, have difficulty even holding their existence together within the space, but servants that are mortals are mostly unaffected by it. TL;DR the more divine you are the hotter you burn. iirc Commander Quartz has a video where he and a few others talked about servants that could beat Gilgamesh.

There's a lot terrifyingly wrong here. For one, nothing ever implies Alcides is superior to him. Quite the contrary, Gil remains completely calm unlike when he actually got worried as Shirou pulled out UBW. The entire fight he wasn't in the back foot, and despite talking a big game about Ea, Alcides himself confided to his master afterwards he was just trying to make some bait, see if he bit, and try to steal Ea. Otherwise, he feels his only chance to win is with a lot of preparations. The second time he did get hit, a second party had to come and completely seal his Treasury. Comparing Merlin and Solomon with Gil in Caster is a futile endeavor. For one, you are essentially comparing Gil while he's holding back willingly with a bunch of people whose power we barely know about (unsurprisingly, all we saw "Solomon" do was Goetia, so we still have no clue what he can do). It is not a comparison worth any thought. Emiya doesn't really prove anything. A big part of fate is that compatibility tilts a battle massively, and Emiya does that. Such a fact doesn't really change the fact of Gil's strength. Nobunaga is absolutely useless. She actually needs to use her Reality Marble, which is hard when her weak self is getting peppered with countless weapons. Even when she does activate it, Gil's divinity is already reduced and the RM doesn't instantly destroy Divine Servants. A mostly weak, specialized Servant like her trying to survive all this while until Gil disappears is not impossible, but it is incredibly improbable. She's for sure not Cu Chulainn to last a few hours. Jesus, her profile herself points out people like Karna and Gil are out of her league despite her powers. I feel people get confused a lot. Is not impossible to beat Gilgamesh, but there's a world of difference between "can beat" and "is actually stronger". Even weaker Servants have a non-0% of winning, even if it may require a lot of set up and luck. Gil's strength is a big deal because almost against anyone, that chance to win is never gonna be in their favor. He's the ultimate hero-killer for a reason, if we assume this theoretical "doesn't hold back" Gil.

Well...... As Fate Series Fans, number 2 after Gilgamesh is his Friend Enkidu, why is he ?, that make Many Reason but why Enkidu Strongest after Gill. First, Enkidu is a doll and weapon of god, he make by clay and his power come form the Earth it self, so as long Earth still exists he never RUN OUT POWER. Second he is Chain of Heaven, the Chain that he pull out in battle with Hercules and Alexcandar the Great is Original Form of Enkidu, his ability can binding almost everting, form normal Human until a God it self, Even Tiamat, Goddesses of Life, Creations and Genesis, can move for at moment, and last, Enkidu can create Sword, Spears, Arrow and every single weapon with Soil and when he combined this with his power he can create UNLIMITED WEAPON AND THROW it he can equal Gilgamesh (and this why he hate Emiya Archer and Shirl because they power is natural enemy of Gate of Babilon). He meybe perfect as creature because he don't need Food, Drink, or event a Rest because his unlimited power, but he have one weakness, that Is a Curse...

Lol that's hilarious fair fight that's not what the grail wars are they are a death battle pitting humanities heroes myths and fiction against each other. Each class is strong or weak against another class and that's the only balance you get the rest is up to the mage to support the servant and provide tactics or covering fire. Balance is the biggest fallacy of games because in reality it doesn't and never did exist. Also a heroes strength is also based on age and how well known they are to humanity on top of any abilities they had in their prime. And Gilgamesh is the oldest and well known hero.

Aún cuando Gilgamesh es poderoso no es un "Grand" servant quienes están destinados a derrotar a las "Beast" las más grandes amenazas de la humanidad, éstas entidades son muy difíciles de derrotar no porque sólo sean tan poderosas como para reestructurar la existencia en sí misma, si no porque o son inmortales o necesitan ser derrotadas con ataques conseptuales, cosa que no puede hacer Gilgamesh y lo demuestra en Fate Grand Order al no poder vencer por si mismo a Tiamat, tampoco podría derrotar a Kama o a Goetia, ya que necesitan formas muy específicas de ser asesinadas.

@@alexanderflores-MazterDestiny Tiamat al final iba a resetear la vida a cero en la tierra así que literal seguía siendo inmortal, era sólo que en ella el concepto de muerte no existía, por éso se necesitó del abuelo para que sembrara en su cuerpo el concepto de muerte y goetia se había adueñado de los nueve anillos del Solomon y su trono, aun sin el ars goetia era capaz de tanquearse la Ea, ya que igual el concepto de muerte sólo se le pudo dar al usar el décimo anillo de Solomon o directamente que el dios creador de todo católico hubiera tenido que interferir para poder hacer algo lo cual la verdad ya era imposible para como estaba la historia. Lo digo porque si Quetzacoatl no pudo hacer nada contra Tiamat y ella en su mitología mató a una bestia igual a ella para "crear" la tierra pues a menos de que sea el dios católico ningun Dios creador de otra religión le iba a hacer nada a Goetia, ni Gil, Enkidu o Ishatar juntos pudieron con un pilar Dios demonio porque estaban conectados al trono de Solomon que les daba la inmortalidad pues ya demostrando que una beast no se puede matar a menos de que sea de manera muy específica.

Gilgamesh does actually lose in the anime and plenty of times in other material. He's op, sure, but he's so incredibly arrogant that he'll only actually try against enemies he deems "worthy", and he barely recognizes most enemies as more than dirt. All this power is meaningless if he doesn't use it.

You're gonna wait a decade if not longer, lmao. We're barely at Volume 6 and the author is sick. If you wanna hear about that opponent, click on read more. True Archer can't beat Gilgamesh either. They had a "final fight" where Gil was finally going serious, and he was almost overpowering him. Much to Gil's bad luck, Ishtar locks his Gate of Babylon before he can beat him, so he's left poisoned and dying. He's still alive currently, with Enkidu and his Master Tine trying to save him. We'll see if he dies in Volume 7, but I doubt Narita would've kept him alive so long if he just wanted to kill him in the next volume.
