I knew without watching all the video that the starbond would win the test since that's what your selling.

No, that is NOT the case. When I began the test I did not know which one would do better. I was however very surprised that the Starbond double the weight. That is also why I took the time to use the same board so people could not say I staged the test. In addition I showed closeups of the amount of glue used so everyone could see it was the same. I don’t know what else I could do to make it more fair. If I don’t like a product I do not do the review. Therefore, if the Starbond epoxy was a failure I would NOT use it and would NOT share it with you.

What’s the difference between glue and epoxy?
@PawPawsWorkShop Жыл бұрын
Glue is generally made from natural ingredients while epoxy is man made. This means that epoxy is usually stronger than glue. In many cases epoxy is waterproof and durable also.

Great test. So are these glues for wood only or is it for other materials also? What else can it bond to?

The better question is what it will not stick to. Silicone, vinyl, wax paper, plastic, hot glue.

Interesting test. While I'm sure the starbond is stronger, I'm not 100% sure of the results. In both cases the wood failed, not the epoxy. Yeah, there was a bit of difference between the two, but I think the wood failing adds an unknown element in to the results. Still, I think there is some weight (pun intended) to your conclusion. 😊

I need to try the same test with oak

Edge grain to edge grain maple tested in tension would have been a more meaningful test. The real question is "How long will the bond last?" I quit using 5 minute epoxy of any brand about 25 years ago when I started seeing old 5 minute releasing its bond from the base material of wood, plastic or fiberglass. It would peel away without tools after 5-10 years. I hope Starbond is better. If I need epoxy, I can wait for a slower cure.

To be fair, the 30 lb bell was closer to the edge on the loctite board compared to the starbond.

Hummmm, I'll have to look at that again. That was not intentional.

This sounds like a tacky test🤣 had you cut a slot across the board so the weights would have the same point to measure from you calculate the pressure being exerted on the joints weight X distance = force 😁🛫

It was fun. I had no idea how it was going to turn out. I’m impressed with 85 lbs on the Starbond. I never expected the Starbond would double that of the Loctite

Impressive 😁🛫 thanks for taking the time to make the video
