I mean even if you discount the manga thus far you can compare how well he took Red compared to Jogo and think about how Jogo eclipses almost any spirit seen in the series so far (well in anime terms) that alone should be a good indicator of how overpowered he is. He physically overpowers Itadori at this point in the story by miles and Itadori is considered super human. Again using Jogo as a reference Itadori and how baffled Yuji is when Gojo says he's weak. Now yes you could argue it was shortly after Gojo became enlightened, but even still you can't deny it's an incredible feat.

I'm not trying to get into this long argument like other peopple In the comments are. Buuuuut being able to make a plan or strategy to fight an opponent is part of strength. Toji knew he was going to have to be quick in killing the star plasma vessel because they were at jujutsu high, and he knew gojo and geto wernt going to just let him kill her. So he used his brains to make a plan to deal with gojo quickly and kill the star plasma vessel before she got absorbed. ALSO toji knew gojo would be able to sense him if he didn't have his guard down that's why even though he has no curse energy and can get past the barriers of jujutsu high he used a normal sword to attack gojo the first time. Only after they knew he was there did he take out the inverted spear, toji knew that if gojo sensed him there he would have had a harder time killing the vessel. Also don't downplay his strength for wanting to make a fight easier, even if gojo guard wasn't down and he wasn't tired toji still would have won against a PRE awakened gojo, I'm not arguing that post awakened gojo can't beat him if he didn't have purple or whatever but PRE awakening gojo was weaker then toji. Don't say that being able to make plans on how to infiltrate a place and to counter opponents is not pa let of his strength. Being able to make plans just build onto his strength
