change this bloody name alamgir ....first and rename the harapan civilization as saraswati -indus civilization coz most site ( actually overwhelmingly) is found in dry saraswati bed.... just change this name alamgir.

Dates for the Harappan Civilization are being constantly pushed back with more research yielding new facets, so pushing back the dates for Ganga-Yamuna Doab should be expected too. Interesting that the contact was not Late Harappan but during the Mature Phase itself. Looking forward to more such contacts being established in Central India and even the South. After all, the Harappan traders were procuring resources from as far north as Shortugai! Nice presentation, Disha.

This site is a mere 180 km east of one of the largest sites Harappan period site of Rakhigarhi. We easily know of far distance contact between Harappans in Afghanistan, Baluchistan and Rajasthan. Exchange networks with Alamgirpur is a true possibility. The problem is the tendency to see one core. There have always been multiple cores of influence in any political system. Indus Valley civilization existed in the City State era, so definitely there can be multiple cores.

One would have to give it to the wisdom of the academics who assign names to civilizations. After it was discovered that the expanse of what had been called as Indus Valley Civilization was far bigger and possibly encompassed more river systems than previously thought, they felt that IVC was a rather localized name, so they came up with an even more localized name, Harappan Civilization.
@indianhistoryarchaeology
@indianhistoryarchaeology Жыл бұрын
@ajeysangai521 you're right about this! Although according to our textbook info (even in archaeological studies), cultures and civilizations are usually named after the "type site" and Harappa was the first excavated site from this civilization. Indus was the initial choice because the earliest discovered sites were on the River Indus. But then we have Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Chinese civilizations named after the land or country. Ideally, since the discovery was made during the modern period it should have been named as the Indian Civilization.

If the Harappans trade with far off civilizations like Egypt and Mesapotamia, they could have as easily spread from Indus-Saraswati to Ganga to Godavari to Kaveri! We are talking of a civilization that started from before 5000 BCE! It’s a no brainer really!

Ancient civilizations, especially the Harappans were intrepid travelers who went almost anywhere to access or sell resources. We know that they procured Lapis Lazuli from northern region of (modern) Afghanistan and copper from the Oman Peninsula, and even travelled as far down as Godavari. So yes, we shouldn't be surprised to find their presence across India but connecting the dots is like solving a jigsaw puzzle.

Madam, you have great topic at hand & your academic understanding of it is quite good. But sorry to say, the presentation of this important topic was way off .. nearly rambling on & on into boring the viewer out with irrelevance. Pls do not take this criticism as discouragement at all. I'm glad there is at least one publication that is going to topics that nobody else even thinks about. Print has great real journalists & specialists .. who though have yet to master the audio visual medium. Many factors that led to this .. the sound recording is low quality, even the pronunciation is unclear. Lot of words & loose words .. rambling on .. the script not being precise & pointed. The scope & reference of the vlog not made clear upfront. No graphics to enhance conveying of points & understanding of it. Just talk & talk .. that was not well structured & one could never get a grasp of the various timelines & the references & interrelationships. The narration tone too is very reluctant & uninviting. In the end, an opportunity lost. But also an opportunity to improve the structure, content & delivery effectively. All the best .. & keep it up. Do not get discouraged or upset by this criticism. I only wish the best for you. I'm still upvoting this coz I think we need more such diversification into art, sciences, philosophy & abstracts.

Good one. So, drought in Indus river forced the Indus people out of the valley is not a credible hypothesis anymore ha. The civilizations which are part of Indus were living way east and south, so drought in himalayas and ice age drought lost little bit of credibility now. It has to be conflict between civilization and the nomads, since that was what happened over and over the next 2000 years of contact between the civilization and the new nomads, why would be the first one would have been any different ? I still believe Indus Harrappan people are Dravidian people, the Indigenous civilization of, you can say "India" or "Bharath", well that bharath part came way later, so Indigenous people of the Indus valley or India. It is very sad with all the modern development, the linguistic development still couldn't decipher Indus valley languages. I hope somewhere someone finds the DNA samples, that will reveal the truth for sure.

As if it is not widely observed phenomena that in ancient times severe droughts caused mass migration from a place.
