This is the second video I saw from you and I love how you explain everything! We need more pilots like you on youtube

Super interesting! I was wondering about this behavior recently...now I know! Thanks for sharing!

Very clever, that's why you have to enter the wind direction and speed in the Performer page and of course the air pressure and the temperature for the pressure altitude.

I work at a recreational simulator facility, and this is the best explanation of what GS Mini does that I've ever heard. What I thought of it was is that it just automatically compensates for whatever wind the aircraft is going through, provided the aircraft is in a managed speed mode. I have a question however, what would GS mini be doing if there weren't any destination data put in the FMGC? Thank you in advance!

@@Metaxoid Thanks for the nice comment. The Airbus will bug you with messages on the MCDU until you put in the wind. if you ignore those, GS mini won't work and the aircraft would just fly the standard approach speed.

I was wondering why the Airbus doesn't use the managed speed that i was expecting... and now I know why! Thanks!

Excellent video as usual. Let me ask you: To have this GS Mini working I must select "ACTIVATE PHASE" in the PERF PAGE on MCDU, right? But there is a point that "ACTIVATE PHASE" becomes no longer available. I wonder when it is no longer available. Could you explain, please?
@fsclipsАй бұрын
@@sinicodaniel If you follow the pre-planned route the Airbus will automatically activate the approach phase. You only need to do it yourself if you get radar vectors to the approach at which point the plane doesn't know when you want it activated. If you fly an approach without the approach phase activated then GS mini won't work because you can't use managed speed. In fact, using managed speed would make the aircraft accelerate back to 250kts. Not good when on the ILS. So, always make sure the approach phase is activated before you start the approach. Hope this helps.
