Actually the Boston Red Sox were the fastest new franchise to win a World Series. The Red Sox (as the Boston Americans) started in 1901. They won the first World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1903. That was 3 seasons unlike the Diamondbacks who did it in 4 seasons.

They had the advantage in that there was guaranteed to be an American League participant and the American League itself was created in 1901.
