Why do less than 30% of Catholics believe in the Real Presence? It seems like many have forgotten that Jesus gave his flesh for the life of the world.
Today, Fr. Mike reminds us of the gift of the Eucharist and shares the way it transformed his own life. It is the heart of our faith, our spiritual nourishment, the bread that we live for, and the teaching worth dying for.

I was raised Southern Baptist and have been looking into Catholicism. One of my hang ups is the Eucharist, I got out my Bible and read John 6 along with this video and I can say that I no longer have doubts. Thank you for what you do, it has helped me tremendously.

My 94 year old daddy (who just passed) spent his 1st 64 years of his life questioning God. Then he read a book on the Eucharist and started going to daily mass 32 years ago. He went from being a worldly, quick tempered, ambitious, man without God to a humble, saintly, man who carried my invalid mother in his arms for her 10 last years. When I asked “daddy what changed you?” He struggled to answer because he choked up with tears. Finally, he was able to get the words out, “the Eucharist”. Amen

As a protestant you actually weren’t a Christian. You might say rubbish yes I was! Think of it this way if you were a Christian then became a Christian ie Catholic! To be a Christian one MUST belong to the ONLY CHURCH THERE IS the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by God himself two thousand year’s ago! Not a thousand year’s ago when the orthodox broke away from Rome in 1054AD, and became CULTS,plus they reject the Filioque! And NOT the Baptist cult founded by Joseph Smythe 400 year’s ago! The so called ecumenical movement is nonsense and satanic. Christian’s praying for unity with other Christian’s!!! To call the Baptist cult a church is blasphemy etc. The ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH IS Jesus Christ on earth his mystical body! Please watch the warning or illumination of conscience by Christine Watkins. Then The Papacy can NOT be destroyed. Then Don’t call protestant’s Christian. Then Following Padre Pio. (now of course St Pio). Padre Pio converted an entire orthodox parish, why did he do this if they were Christian? The truth is they weren’t Christian and that’s why he converted them! Even his holiness Pope St Pius IX said protestant’s are NOT Christian. God bless. Praise Jesus and Mary always!!! (buy True Devotion to Mary by St Louis de Montfort).

I had such a beautiful miracle happen when I was a teenager on a youth retreat with a tabernacle door and a friend who is now in religious life. She asked me so directly, "Do you believe He's really in there?" And when I said yes, the door opened. He's really there. I've always believed. As a teenager I would sit for a long time in the dark church in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I love Him, but it's nothing compared to how much He loves me. I try each week, to help the kids in religious ed to come to know this love is real and available for them. He wants us to be the tabernacle.

Yes as a Protestant it used to make me feel unwell when we had to throw out the little plastic cups with traces of juice in it and upturn the trays with leftover crackers on it into the garbage can. Later when I read God’s word more prayerfully and was given the ability to understand, I did all I could to receive the actual Eucharist and the Church which treats it with reverence. Indeed, it’s worth dying for.

The Eucharist is the ❤️ of the church. There are times when my health prevents me from going to mass for weeks on end and I yearn for Jesus in the Eucharist so much. I remember the first time the Eucharist was brought to me at home, my dad was a Eucharistic minister at the time, and I found myself panicking and cleaning up as sick as I was. I just kept saying “Jesus is coming to ME! ! I have to clean up!” Then I realized I needed to just sit and pray to prepare my soul. But I will never forget that first time he came to ME instead of me going to mass. It’s so beautiful it makes me cry every time 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Fr. Mike. I'm Catholic and I haven't been to mass in years. I do want to go but something always comes up. Another interruption and distraction I would say. But something happen to me yesterday that I must share with you. I went to visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. I felt so ashamed being there for not being an active Catholic. No one was there. Only me and Jesus. I cried and cried. After my crying spell, I just told Him that I am so sorry for my sins and just merely praising Him and simply thanking Him for all His goodness. I prayed a rosary while I was there. Somehow I remembered "all" of the mysteries and just meditating on them. Again somehow I lost all track of time that my wife called me and complaining of "where are you?" I told her where I was, and she was quiet and said that "it's not even Sunday." Today, I told her that I'm going to mass and she said, "okay." As a matter of fact, I told her that I'll be going "everyday" from now on and she was okay with it. I might come today since it is our 38th anniversary. I hope she does. Anyway, I just want to share this message with you when I came upon your message of the Eucharist. Thank you Jesus for speaking through Fr. Mike.

Though raised as a "cradle Catholic", I did not really start to fully appreciate and "get" the real meaning of the Eucharist until I returned to the Church (for good I pray!!) in February, 2020. As cited in Fr. Mike's video, the 6th Chapter from the Gospel of John, the "Bread of Life" discourse, makes it very clear that the Eucharist is the Real Presence, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot have true life without receiving it. To quote others who have commented here, "Praying that all Catholics truly believe that the Eucharist IS Jesus". Thank you Fr. Mike for this video.

I was not there but it sounds like a misunderstanding. Some bishops have restricted reception of Holy Communion solely on the hand and prohibited reception on the tongue. Each bishop has their reasons for making such a decision for he is looking out for the entire diocese and it may be due to health related issues such as Covid19. To me, and again I wasn't there, but it sounds like to me the priest wanted very much for you to receive the Holy Eucharist and for whatever reason could not place it on your tongue. I encourage you to make an appointment with him and talk to him about it. 🙏❤️🙏

Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop murmuring* among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets: ‘They shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; 50 this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” 52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?” 53 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. 54 Whoever eats* my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Understanding the Real Presence and Mortal Sin for the first time when I was 19 y/o (last year) was like someone dumping ice water on me and waking me up from spiritual ignorance that kept me from practicing the faith for 5+ years. Teaching the serious, scary, and amazing supernatural realities of the faith is the spark that will ignite the hearts of young people, in my opinion. I am 20 y/o now, but spent 5+ years is horrible sin and a terrible mental state, I am forever grateful for the grace of God in my reversion to the Church, though I feel like St Augustine: "Late have I loved you, beauty so ancient and so new". Fr. Mike and Acension please continue to talk about the serious and deep nature of the faith, not dumbing it down. On this spiritual journey, let Sacred Scripture be your light and the Eucharist your nourishment.

#AskAscension Thank you, Fr. Mike. I am becoming Catholic, but am about a year away from being baptized as it only happens at Easter and RCIA doesn't even begin until the fall. But I attend mass regularly and love it. I am praying the rosary every day and other prayers also, will add at least some of the Divine Office soon. When I go to mass, I feel as if I receive communion even though I am not yet allowed to receive the eucharist. I sense the Real Presence in the eucharist and feel it entering into me. Though my intention is to be baptized and enter fully into the Church, who knows what will happen in the next year? "They" keep insisting we'll have another pandemic--will the churches be closed again? So I am looking for some assurance that as my intentions are clear and I am doing all I can to learn about the Faith and prepare for RCIA and baptism/confirmation/eucharist that I am/will be saved if I die before that can take place. I would so appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. Thank you. (P.S. I am 71)

I nearly walked away from Jesus entirely in my 20s after becoming disillusioned and not getting serious answers for suffering from my protestant background. A friend challenged me to look at the Catholic Church to see that it really was the original church. I came to believe that Catholicism was the authentic Christianity but I still unsure if Christ was the Messiah because I could not believe in the Eucharist. However, in reading a Jewish book called Preparing Your Heart For Passover, God gave me such a unique and profound grace. Here I was reading a Jewish/antiChristian book and yet all I could see was how the Real Presence of the Jews at Passover being knit together as a people translated to the unique work God allows us when mere bread and water are transformed into the real Body,Blood,Soul and Divinity and given to us in mystical union. I was blown away. My husband and I were received into the Church in 2004 and I am ever so grateful for the opportunity for the Eucharist.

Out of respect for the Blessed Sacrament, I receive Holy Communion directly on my tongue, when pandemic rules allow. One priest did not seem at all comfortable about this and managed to throw the host straight into my throat, causing me to choke and gag. But, after recovering from the surprise, I silently prayed, “Lord, I don’t care that I choked on You. I love You!”

Who instituted the Holy Eucharist? I believe it was Jesus Christ at the Last Supper. Did Jesus ask his disciples to wash their hands and kneel before he gave them His body? I don't think so - it would have been mentioned in at least one of the gospels. IF Jesus was happy to pass around His body in the form of bread (Probably passed from one disciple to another) why should we today not receive the Holy Eucharist in the same way. Remember the disciples were probably sitting around to eat the shared meal of the Last Supper so they were not even standing. And dare I say they probably were not too worried about any crumbs which might have fallen from the bread as they passed it around. So I imagine that if we today receive the Consecrated Host reverently in our hands our Lord will be perfectly happy. God Bless you Cassandra

@@emtedee985 the major difference between the Apostles and us is that the Apostles were ordained priests, in persona Christi. Practice changes over time, depending on location and culture, I agree. Kneeled there looking at the other people there in the makeshift chapel, knowing that they were there because they really believed Jesus was there. HOW could that be? I was smart but just didn't get it. So I prayed that dangerous and efficacious prayer: Lord I believe. Help my unbelief. Pretty much immediately I did not doubt any more. No lightning bolts, Just the confidence that it was the most important Truth in the universe. From that conference on, I hear the Gospels with a "sharpness" that I did not have prior to that prayer. Beautiful and inspiring Fr Mike, even 11 months later. This is why I attend Holy Mass and Holy Communion every day (and sometimes it works out to be twice in one day, like funerals or special occasions) and Confession regularly. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" makes me cry every time. It took motherhood for God to show me what is, and how to, love. And in my heart and soul, I know I can never repay Abba or Jesus for this Holy Gift and Sacrifice, and I will spend eternity thanking Them.

Who am I that the Mother of our Lord leads me to our Lord? Who am I that our Father and Holy Spirit has allowed me the knowledge of our Lord to be truly present - Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist? I am as nothing, yet I have this knowledge and burning desire to receive the Holy Eucharist - the Word made Flesh Who dwelt amongst us and still dwells in the Consecrated Bread and/or Wine. For He is truly and completely present in both. To say Thank You seems to be so little compared to how singular and glorious this gift is.
