Little clarification. The parliament does not have final say over the president of the commission. That president is chosen by the commission itself if they choose to like they did a few years ago with von der Leyen as they circumvented the parliament. Other than the parliament can only debate on laws proposed by the commission. Howevere the video is right about it being the only democratically elected institution of the EU, and it is pretty powerless on the grand scheme of things. This is not to say the parliament is obsolete, it is still very much necessary but it definitely doesn't have the importance our rulers want us to think.

In my opinion the EU Parliament must focus on the Jobs of tomorrow: DATA CENTERS , which are very similar to the EU Parl in the Cyber World : Data Centers take all the data and using the new superchips , CPU+GPU+Fast Memory Links , etc., makes sense of it and extracts the solutions best fitted for the application: AI, Machine Learning, Image Generators, Holograms , Complex sub - Databases , etc. The Lat Am & Europe Trade Deals and Clean Energies, Oil, Gas , Minerals , Food & Cattle differences, etc., will demand many of these advance logic DATA CENTERS and skilled Workers . An apprenticeships program right now is a must , or Europe will be left behind .

@@sleepyjoe7843 you can elect your national government, and you can elect the parliament. The commission needs to be approved by parliament and the commisioners are proposed by the european council(which is the heads of states of the 27 members of the EU). While parliament can not make laws on its own, it can veto any laws proposed by the commission. And it can dismiss the commission by a vote of no confidence

@@Gigachad-mc5qz What are you trying to say? Does not change the fact that EU president Ursula is not elected by people while president in Russia for example is. I Imagine how you would react if in some country president would also be elected by the government and not people. Just like in Belgium. Imagine Russia doing the same, you would scream that it's undemocratic.

@@sleepyjoe7843 well in italy the PM is elected by parliament and in germany the chancellor is elected by parliament too. The executive being too powerful is a bad idea. Look at the US. also it causes political gridlock. And russia isnt remotely democratic💀💀
