The amount of talent at the QB position is wild. The QBs are so talented that people have started actually holding teams accountable for their awful front offices & coaching staffs rather than just blaming the QB for not being talented enough to both throw the ball, catch it, and coach the team like fans and sports pundits used to.
@falcon1378
@falcon1378 Жыл бұрын
It’s crazy cause guys like Josh Allen would be playing linebacker and guys like Patrick Mahomes would be playing baseball 20-30 years ago. With the growth of the QB not just throwing the ball but also being athletic, now teams can’t just defend a run and the pass, the actually have to study a QB’s overall ability now.

Yesterdays game against the Los Angeles Chargers shows the trust and respect that the Jacksonville Jaguars organization has for Trevor Lawrence. He threw four interceptions and only thirty yards in the first half, but came back for the second half producing 258 yards and 4 touchdowns. @@uclajd Wentz was a pretty integral part of that winning himself, I love Nick but he wouldn't have taken us to 12-1 with an MVP caliber season. He needed to clean up the heroball but the Rams injury cut his mobility, took his chance at the playoffs and maybe awards, and that killed his confidence, so now he flinches at everything until he's in a situation where he's gotta hope shit happens and can't afford anything less than heroball

I think for the best coaches, they have a scheme only in place for one reason: to build off tendency-breakers. From one play, they can confuse the defense over and over. The scheme is only a ground that lays the basis to grow new concepts and keep the defense honest.

The amount of confidence that Doug and the jags have in Trevor is really telling. They would call a lot of plays where it is just a throwing play with no RB in the backfield because they trust his arm. Trevor has improved his throwing technique and the jags have based their offence on him and given him receivers that can get open and catch (even if they're not you're prototypical superstars that you're usual QB would need).

To some degree Staley was going all out against Lawrence. In one of the 4 early INTs, Chargers defense perfectly masked the coverage so pre snap it looked like man despite the movement Lawrence saw (the playcall was mesh underneath with the intended target for Engram running across). But like 3 seconds post-snap as the Chargers linebackers and CBs dropped, they then showed zone and that caught Trevor hard. That was the play where he thought his best choice was threading a needle to Engram but Asante Samuel Jr. was sitting on that area. Best part is Trevor was unfazed and continued pulling those fast reads and finding those mismatches downfield. Including the the deep shot to Zay Jones for a TD in the 2nd half where Lawrence saw him all alone at the top with no Chargers player on him (because they were sitting in zone).

I was at the Chargers playoff game. The momentum shift was gradual yet palpable. The entire stadium knew we would win. You had to be there to feel it because the NBC and all television coverage of games are pathetic. For example, they show the kickoff, the coach, then the penalty flag, the ref, then a player. Repeat this 500 times. Television coverage sucks. Youd think they would pan the crowd more, the hot dog guy, or the kid with the sign?

Great breakdown. This is kind of why I don't think Frank Reich got the rawest of deals by being let go. He's too vanilla and this footage shows Doug was the true offensive guru and is good at getting his guys in positions to succeed. The only bad part is that while Frank was very unoriginal, I don't think the Colts will find an upgrade. I also second the other comments about the great delivery. You give us a pure look at the science of football.
@t4d0W
@t4d0W Жыл бұрын
IN comparison to Frank tho, Dougie P got a guy who does the heavy lifting besides the scheme which is Lawrence who is an absolute elevator for the receivers he is working with. The raw deal Frank got really is it is HARD to elevate an offense when the GM is purely living off finding talent off small margins but not being aggressive enough to pursue everything else. There is no world where Matt Ryan is comfortable enough with an O-line that got worse in pass pro along with their star RG hurt all season long. Compound that with lackluster athletes on receivers that can't separate and the passing game is shot.
@toomanylies7716
@toomanylies7716 Жыл бұрын
@@t4d0W I do agree about the receivers not being a strong point. Whether by talent or play design, they didn't seem capable of the explosiveness we were hoping for. Idk about the GM stuff tho. He got Buckner, Mcourtey, and some other pieces. The offense should have been set (touted as one of the best o-lines for years) but the line was barely better than last year. We did lose a Costanza and they never could find an anchor there, which alone hurts, but I think some other guys went down too. In the end it didn't look like they players had a lot of heart. That second game I gave up on them because to me it looked like they had given up.
