Dunno when this Morgan & Morgan became a thing, but I wish my family and I knew about that a few years ago when my parents ended up in a really bad accident that resulted in my mom having to go to the hospital because of how badly she was injured. She’s doing fine for the most part now (and the guy who caused the accident is still imprisoned I believe) but there are problems she goes through because of the accident that she may have to live with for the rest of her life. It’s honestly a miracle that she survived (and I don’t even believe in miracles all that much), and though I had issues with her a couple years after the accident, things are good between me and her and I do my best to cherish the times I spend with her Also, I didn’t know there was a special name for people who were born after a miscarriage :o My sister was born after a miscarriage (which happened a year or two after I was born), so she’s a rainbow baby too! Dang, I’ve been jealous of her for the majority of my life, but now I’ve got another reason to be (I love rainbows) 😂 It’s all good though because I get along with her, and I’m in fact happy that she’s a rainbow baby. And can confirm that miscarriages can make a father even more devoted because my dad’s one of the most devoted people I know. Working really hard so that he can support the family, does his best to help us in any way he can, is awesome to be around, and he gives great advice (most of the time) Anyway, this was a great video! It actually reminded me of my mom telling me this morning about a relative of ours who had been trying to have a child for a few years, but had been unsuccessful and there was actually a reason for it (sadly I forgot the name of the diagnosis and the details other than something in her wasn’t in the right place which was why she miscarried and couldn’t make it through the first stage). But fortunately, she’s been doing well and I think sometime next week she’ll be 23 weeks pregnant! I’m super happy for her and will definitely get her a present when possible! Anyway, again, great video! I don’t have a Twitter but I’d love to make fanart for you sometime (not sure when as I’m taking care of myself due to some issues I’ve been having lately, and motivation can be difficult for me to hold on to), especially since you’re pretty much the reason I got into enjoying Bluey episodes (and your character is cute! There's a strong possibility that Chili was pregnant when her mother passed away and the stress from that happening is what caused her to miscarry. It would explain why it took so long for her to mention her mom in even the most minor of ways because that loss was twice as traumatic for Chili.

There's actually no evidence that stress can cause miscarriages. That's a myth - and it can actually be harmful, because it perpetuates the idea that women who miscarry did something to cause it, when that's just not true. The vast majority, if not ALL, miscarriages are believed to be caused by genetic defects in the embryo that absolutely no one could have helped.

I knew my childhood was fricked up but I didn’t know it was *that* fricked up cuz of how much I’ve normalized abuse, neglect, and poor parenting. Seeing this normal healthy family makes me realize how bad mine has been. It reveals how fricked up even the smallest details of my childhood are by showing a healthy alternative to it. But it’s not comforting because as my inner child says: I don’t want something I can’t have. I want something I can have. I also feel jealous of the people who do feel comforted by Bluey because they are super valid. And I wish I did feel comforted by Bluey instead,

Another angle to approach the parental guilt from is this: there is a sort of stigma on miscarriages as being the mother's "fault". People will say that the mother wasn't careful about what she ate or made some other mistake. I even once saw some guy blame the mother because she was a frigid, unfeeling bitch and was thus unable to carry a child. For context on that one, it was a 'Nice Guy tm' who was angry the woman refused to cheat on her husband with him, and his solution was to mock the death of a baby. I think people like to make miscarriages the result of one's own ineptitude as a shield, like what often happens with disabilities; If this thing is do to a failure rather than bad luck or an accident, that means it will never happen to me.
@Scarshadow666 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised that's why some people mentally shield themselves from subject matters such as these, unfortunately (most people often fall into this mental trap to make themselves feel better, and it often speaks more about them then the people they're projecting onto). U_U Sounds like that guy should work on himself rather than put pressure on other people to be unfaithful. So sorry for that poor woman's loss.
@sonicpsycho13 Жыл бұрын
There's also the guilt of feeling like one should be sadder. Depending on the person, stage of pregnancy, and other factors, a miscarriage may not necessarily feel eventful. Because it doesn't feel eventful, this can cause someone to feel guilt over not feeling anything.

While I know I've never been alone, the more miscarriages you have, the more alone you feel. I've been to doctors, it's not a fertility issue, for some reason I'm just not going beyond 6 weeks. The journey to give my son a sibling has been a complicated and hurtful journey, but it's not done. The doctor and another friend of mine (who also had 3 miscarriages) have given me hope to try one more time. Right now it's just waiting for the right time. At the same time, I've come to the acceptance that even if it doesn't happen naturally, my son could still get a sibling in terms of adoption. Let's just say I feel closer to Chilli every time I see these analysis videos.

Have you considered a surrogate mother? The child would still be yours genetically, but if your system won't hold a child to term, how about a substitute? A lot of people theorize that bluey is a rainbow baby, but because of the baby room and the early promotional posters depicting chili pregnant, I think the misarrange happened after bluey and bingo. it could change how everything can be contextualized. it can carry the message " pick yourself up, and dust yourself off and keep going" as where chili had to push through for her kids, and could be why bandit has a very active role with his kids so he could let chili heal.

The shows are not bad for replicating the methods and answering to the demand of their audience, who DO rationalize safety as OMISSION of things. And this is largely the demand in parnetless behavior where, well, the infatnilization justified with "not having to grow up too fast" is based on OMISSION, of... one thing and another. What results is kids having to ACTUALLY grow up fast, overnight at an arbitrary date of 18 years old, and creeping ever so later. And throughout all that childhood you raise them to a chosrus of adults being MOCKED for their C.S. Lewis style of appreaciating and elevating childish things. Essentially, you throw children under the bus by SAYING that lacking things ARE for children, resenting the nature of INCLUDED things for being INCLUSIVE to children. And that's where the balming "it's just mush" comes from. Now you try to move on blaming ANYTHING you can think of as being "bad", or "nothing but mush" because it's morre important to find something to blame rather than understanding it's qualities. If mush is for somebody else than children, now you're just trying to transfer your previous resentment of children onto resentment of whatever it is you call mush.

@@sboinkthelegday3892 That's some good insight! And makes sense, though I'd argue that kids growing up quicker doesn't always just happen due to the art/media they consume, sometimes it's based off of their circumstances in life. A lot of kids that grow up faster now are way more likely to do so based off of how much the Internet/social media has changed things societally and culturally, and depending on how their parents/family/communities raise them.

Theres also the overall theme of depression coming from both Chili and Bandit. They arent shown to be happy all the time but they've been shown to handle their emotions in a healthy way rather than lashing out on their children. And on top of that when one parent is feeling down, the other makes sure to explain it to Bluey and Bingo instead of keeping it from them because they're "just kids"
@arashi32900 Жыл бұрын
I know that there is the theory that Chilli possibly had two miscarriages, based off the quote and off of some evidence in some episodes, particularly Sleepytime. You have two planets in between the Sun (Chilli) and Jupiter (Bandit) that have not hatched: Mercury which is before Venus (Bluey) and Mars which is after Earth (Bingo). There is the possibility that Chilli has had two miscarriages, one before Bluey and one after Bingo.

This was my first thought when he mentioned the line in the book about "her other children still needed her," and how it was about a third person, but that some people thought it was about Chili. "Why can't it be both?" It'd be tragic, sure, but so is having *any* miscarriages.
@connienoland8400 Жыл бұрын
I actually hold a theory that the fight was because of things chilli's mom left her. Chilli has some of her mom/dads war ribbons and I could imagine that they got left to her "since chilli has kids to pass them down to." Something like that would put a rift between the two sisters for sure.

But when they reunite, they are on good terms, even if Brandy still feels uncomfortable and needs to take the healing breath before approaching the door. Chilli asks her if she's okay after she and Brandy are both "attacked". The separation had really started four years prior, when Bingo was born. Being unable to have kids at all and then your sister having two can be tough to deal with.

I try to avoid fandom interpretations that feel edgy at all, but this doesnt.. bluey is such a gentle show and any interpretation that could lead to feeling comforted, or any kind of catharsis can only help the viewer. Bluey covers a lot of emotional highs and lows in an elegant, subtle way. Lots of things are never outright stated, but I could believe this.
@Wublingify Жыл бұрын
One thing I always think about is that, while author intent is very useful, unintentional symbolism and imagery can be just as important and impactful. I'm not sure the people behind Bluey actually intended the double rainbows of Rain to represent the kids as "rainbow babies", for example. It's very possible it was an intentional reference, but my point is that even if it wasn't, that doesn't mean we can't connect it that way. The audience finding meanings in art that weren't intended is part of the experience of enjoying art. So while I am happy the miscarriage theory was confirmed, as it helps more people see these meanings, I don't think the theory would hold any less weight if we never got this confirmation. I think this idea gets lost in modern media analysis sometimes, because people are very occupied with what is "canon" to a particular series. And also because more than ever, we're very aware of how important it is for underrepresented topics to be shown clearly. But the concept of "death of the author" is still useful, and we can still find new meaning that the creators weren't putting in intentionally.
@Pugly Жыл бұрын
You just said something I hold very close and dear to my heart, I’m a firm believer in having people create their own interpretations and thoughts about art. I believe art is subjective and it can be summarized as “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” where everyone is free to create their own feelings from their own perspective. Heck the studios themselves always say some messages are left vague so we can create our own meanings

Yes, very true. I've experienced this particularly with certain art/media that is meant to be psychologically stimulating for the audience (I sometimes watch psychological horror/thrillers, and various franchises encourage it to some degree, like with the Silent Hill games). Sometimes it can annoying when people search up unintentional symbolism/imagery and try to make themselves sound pretentious when communicating their art/media analysises (the general pretentiousness, or the fear of sounding pretentious to other people, tends to chase off people doing much analysises with unintentional symbolism/imagery, in my experience). Which is a shame because there's people that can help with understanding most art/media better and making it more enjoyable, as well as connecting dots to things/seeing things creatively that most people wouldn't think of otherwise!

As a mother of a stillborn baby girl I wanted to say thank you for how well you made this video. The compassion and education behind this video is beautiful. Chilis lessons are ones I needed to hear. My rainbow baby is a dog, maybe it sounds silly but I know others who have gone through this. I saw the affects you mentioned (without knowing previously) with myself and my husband with our dog. I always laughed about how “he should win the best dog dad award” and it’s touching that blueys dad won that award. The excitement, the guilt, the fear you mentioned with a rainbow baby is the same I have for my dog. Every night I worry he will pass early, I take him to the vet over every little thing. I’m glad this show shared that. I’ve avoided bluey because I know it will bring up a lot about my childhood I’m simply not ready for, but I am so glad I clicked this video. Edit: the sisters issues make so much sense. It’s been hard for me watching my friend have a baby, healthy and alive, I’m so happy for her but it’s been hard. I quit going to family events for about 5 years because I couldn’t be around babies. I saw this not for pitty, I hate when people say sorry for my loss, I say low this to express the accuracy I see in this video and show. This is truly a beautiful video in so many ways.

I have another interpretation on Brandy in Onesies, one thing that is called out is how much Bingo looks like Brandy, and there is a lot of emphasis on Bingo during the episode, and it seems that a lot of her emotions come from Bingo, as miscarriage can happen at any term of the pregnancy, i always assumed that what happened with Brandy is that she was pregnant around the time Chilli was having Bingo and that likely she knew that the baby was a red heeler too, so i always thought her breaking point came with Bingo's birthday because maybe her child should have been there too , specially since Chilli is very understanding a concerned about her sister emotions by being around bingo specifically.

Pregnancy is such an insane process, and sometimes things go wrong, and there’s nothing that anyone can really do about it. Everything could’ve been perfect, but if the body senses something wrong, then it’ll take the reins and say “time to start over”. Obviously, it’s hard to talk about it. People dont often know how common miscarriages are and how they affect a family as a whole. 1 in 4 couples will experience a miscarriage at some point. I found out i was a rainbow baby around middle school age because my mother felt it was important for my sister and i to know of her and my fathers history of fertility struggles. She had failed to become pregnant after years of trying then a medication helped them have my sister. They used the same medication and unfortunately miscarried their 2nd pregnancy, then tried again and got me. Long story short, its important to discuss these things. It’s very damaging to your mental and physical health, and sometimes it doesn’t matter how careful or how hopeful you are… they still die before they’re taken their first breath. It doesn’t get easier, ever, it just desensitizes you a little more each time you lose your baby. I still have yet to carry a baby past two weeks, I may never have a child. When I see these young or old families with their kids, I feel myself aching because I’ve never wanted anything more than to be a mother. Adoption will always be an option, but it’s not the same experience as being pregnant and getting to feel the development… feeling their first kicks, talking to your belly, the morning sickness, all of it.

Oof...this video was loaded. I am not married nor do I have children, but I definitely felt seen when the talk about holding back emotions happened. To this day I struggle with expressing emotions, mainly negative ones like anger, sadness, depression, and such, mostly because like it's said in the video I grew up being told to hold back my emotions either for someone else's sake or my own. I am in my 40s now and sometimes I want to express anger and sadness, like REALLY express them. But I either receive retaliation for expressing those feelings, or I am told that I should hold back because if I get too angry I may have a stroke or heart attack due to people having similar reactions and even dying. So often I struggle to say what I feel and express my emotions because there is always someone trying to say "conceal them for my sake". Or in the other side, if I try to speak my emotions someone will try to take over and make it about THEM and they dominate the conversation with THEIR feelings. I agree that children at a young age should be told to truly admit their emotions and express them safely because that leads to a healthier mindset once adulthood sets in and you have to face similar trials like the one Chili experienced. I lost my father to COVID in 2021 and like Chili I am still coping with his absence, and now my mom is my close friend and confidant. When Chili says that she wants her dad to be well because she needs him I felt so seen because I often say "I want her to be as heathy as happy as possible because I need her". Sorry for the super long comment, just that you do a great job analyzing the emotions and psychological aspects of Bluey in a manner that feels natural, not hyperbolic or exaggerated like "BLUEY IS REALLY ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH ILLNESSES NOT CLICK BAIT" or "CHILDREN'S SHOW TALKS ABOUT PREGNANCIES AND MISCARRIAGES!!". My oldest is a rainbow baby, had a 19 week loss before him. Even without a cute term like “rainbow baby”, there is something very special about the bond you have with that child. Whenever we see a rainbow, I give him a hug, just like Chilli gives Bluey. I haven’t seen this episode yet, but I really need to see what other hidden metaphors are in the plot. But from what you’ve shared of it in the video, it could refer to Chilli trying to control her “Bluey” pregnancy, to the point she was stressed out. Her helping Bluey could be a reference to letting go of things she can’t control and just living for the day. It can be very hard to enjoy pregnancy after having a traumatic first time. The internet definition of a rainbow baby is a “baby born after the storm”. Once the storm is over, a rainbow appears to Chilli and she’s reminded of the gift of her oldest child. This is my interpretation, but that’s what I love so much about this show.

I wonder if Brandy and Chilli were pregnant around the same time that Chilli was pregnant with Bingo. It would explain the fight and why it caused so much grief if Chilli's baby made it and Brandy's didn't. Then especially the fact that Bingo looks Brandy then all of the reactions would match.

This has me pretty emotional, considering my girlfriend and I had a hard time having a family. And 5 years ago when we finally felt we had a chance. We lost them. While it was depressing and heart breaking we kind of just gave up. Mothers day of 2022 she broke the news she was pregnant. We kept the news to ourselves for a few months, just to not get our hopes up or even our family. January 4th 2023 we welcomed our rainbow baby, Lorenzo, into our life. The best blessing in my life who just feels me with so much life, love, and childlike wonder. 💙

This is so crazy to learn. My 6 year old nephew LOVES Bluey and it's his favorite show. Well, he's a "rainbow baby" and my sister's previous pregnancy was a miscarriage.

My own mom suffered from a miscarriage. I was around 8-9 when it happened. It’s extremely painful for everyone evolved. I remember crying in my room at night after I learning about the miscarriage. I thought I wasn’t meant to be a bigger sister, and that somehow it was my fault. 2 years later my current baby brother was born. I remember promising him I would always be there for him and love him. I told myself I’d be the best sister I could be when lying awake at night when my mom was pregnant with my now little brother. I would die for this kid, and I remember crying the first time I saw him.

Chili’s checklist reminded me of what I teacher told me when I was in kindergarten or first grade, it was either, “You’re too big to cry” or “Big girls don’t cry” looking back she wasn’t trying to be mean but still.

Great job as usual, Pugly! Chili’s checklist in “The Show” is much more meaningful now that we have confirmation on the miscarriage theory. Sometimes, people have to remain in one part of the list/grieving process longer than they might think. And that’s okay. There’s no standardized plan for growth and recovery. Bluey does such a fantastic job of giving viewers of all ages accessible entry points into complex topics

The part that I truly appreciated in "Oncies" was the ending when Brandy apologizes to Chili for being away for so long and they are able to build a relationship again. Even though Brandy wasn't away out of malice she let herself be separated from her family because it was hard to be around them and in the process risked her relationship with her sister. She didn't have to apologise but it was sweet. It's nice to see that she confronted her feelings and decided not let them keep her away from her family for more years and that, even if she herself can't have children of her own, she is still a member of the family who can be the best auntie if she allows herself to be and that she has the support of her wonderful sister, Chili. What matters is that she is finally back. ☺

I recently found out that my mother had a miscarriage before having me. This video really made me reconsider why my Mom got scared and barely slept when I caught a cold or how protective she got when I was scared even though she was equally scared.

The feelings of a miscarriage can also be confusing, sorta feeling like a choice on one child or another. Where two parents could wish for two children but have a miscarriage but still later have two children, if they wished that the miscarriage didn't happen then they could also be wishing for one of their children to be replaced by that other child, which could add even more guilt.

You know how in one episode Bandit says something around "-wanted to get it done but, Chilli, she wants to keep options open"? I bet Chilli's miscarriage played a part in that, in wanting to keep their options open to try for one more child, for Mars after Venus and Earth

my mom had a miscarriage before me and so when she saw this episode the day it came out she immediately knew what happend and started crying before my dad came over to hug her. is was sad but it was only a moment for mom before she said that the way they showed it was perfect.

Another amazing video Pugly. Thank you for making these analysis videos, they’re great for sharing with my friends. The way you edit your videos, show how deep and emotional Bluey can get and why it’s so impactful to so many people. Keep up the great work!

Sometimes, i feel like i mess everything up and i spend a lot of time in my bedroom closet, crying. Whenever that happens, i try and remember Chilli’s words. My mother has always told me the same thing, and its helped me throughout my life. Bluey is something that makes me so happy. parents have always said i was a miracle, and that’s because i was a rainbow baby. Its really saddening, as they only told me a few weeks ago. Sometimes i cry because there was a baby supposed to be born, but wasn’t. Miscarriages are so saddening, and knowing my mother had to go through one is devastating. Its a really serious thing that not many people truly understand, they don’t understand how big the impact is. It really hurts to lose your child. For a lot of my life, i suppressed a lot of my emotions. I thought it was bad because i cried a lot and got bullied for it. People called me a crybaby.

I didn't expect to be crying so early this morning. Wish I saw this and Bluey a couple of years ago, but I had gotten back up and tried again. After years of trying, I've never been given the gift of life, but I can happliy say (and cry) that a sibling group of 3 is being grafted into our family through adoption. I still have hope, but I have content knowing I can be a mother to those who need it, not just sharing blood-ties to.

Pugly… I had several miscarriages and I learned to just pick up and keep it moving… Bluey is my favorite animated show even though I’m a grown woman I let my child watch it because I let my child understand the view of what adult emotions will be from the view of a child. You have no idea how much of your commentary is therapy for me right now. I have had several miscarriages that I won’t even name the number in a row and this was a healing to me. Thank you!

Haha, I understand where this commnet is coming from, its very exciting news so many creators want to express their own opinions on it including myself. News usually results in content from my experience, luckly for the bluey community whenever we get this type of stuff it usually results in lots of thoughts and discussions which I love partaking in as opposed to just news reporting and nothing else. I hope that this video wasn't an eye sore for you since it seems you've been seeing this topic alot haha, have a great day buddy :)

Initially I was supposed to have an older brother and sister, aside from my currently 22 year old sis. The girl was gonna be named Rose and the boy was going to be Daniel, Rose was a abrupt miscarriage and Daniel only was alive for an afternoon…we still put Christmas ornaments with their names and baby related ornaments nearest to the star on the tree to honor and remember them… Because of their passing, while tragic, paved the way for me…it gave my mother determination and motivation to try again… I hope that no one takes what I said wrong…I still love them greatly, even if I’ve never met them I’m happy to have heard of them…I’m happy this episode and series tackles stuff like this

My family was worried about my mom when she got pregnant. She is 38 and she isn’t the best in health despite her best efforts. The pregnancy had led the preeclampsia and she wasn’t able to walk very well or anything really. We was worry that she would have a miscarriage after my brother and my mom’s fiancée (my little sister’s father) had a huge fight with her going down in a panic attack. (She had anxiety so that happens but is had been a while and that one was terrible) she luckily didn’t and while at a doctors appointment they told her that she had preeclampsia and rushed her into a c-section. She was able to pull through and my little sister was alright but that was the scariest thing for me ever and I don’t want to feel that way again but it would have been worse if Aurora didn’t make it. For everyone who had Or experience a family member go through a miscarriage, then my heart goes to you all and I hope you can recover and know it’s not your fault and it sometimes happens
