Fiat’s new 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo has been named the Best New Engine of the Year by the International Engine of the Year Awards
@igorgroza25452 жыл бұрын
Hello my Friend. We are not interested in how it works inside there, but given that this engine has a serious design flaw, namely, it does not start after a long stop (more than 2 weeks) despite the operable kinematics of the control of valves by the Multiair module due to oil leakage from the module and the formation of air pockets in it. This disadvantage is exacerbated by the traditionally high oil consumption in this engine and the user can actually miss the critical moment of adding oil to the engine. In my case, this happened, the oil level dropped, when braking or tilting the car through the suction pipe, air got into the oil system (Multiair module hydraulics sistem) from the crankcase and the engine stopped. After topping up the oil, attempts to start the engine were unsuccessful. At the same time, compression and spark in all cylinders disappeared in the engine. The last oil 5W40 change was - 8000 km. back. The filt Multiair module er turned out to be clean, the mileage of the car is 960,000 km., the condition of the engine is good. Questions: 1. How can I bleed the Multiair module and remove air from it? 2. What is the luMultiair module brication scheme. 3. Why is there a small ball valve on the , from Multiair module he top under the filler neck? what is its function? Some experts in Utah advise pouring 240-280 ml through it into the Multiair module oil and then try to start the engine againe. I tried topping up, but nothing came of it, because the hole (1 mm) is very small. Senserly yours. Igor Groza 18.01.22 igorgroza1957@gmail.com

In a hybrid setup where an engine only charges a battery or hydraulic accumulator, an engine is best to run at a constant speed at its efficient "sweet spot". That does not require this variable vale timing complexity. The engine can be much simpler, or even a Stirling which is even better.
@sasazapadnik93352 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you exchange one set of problems for another. Adding a battery increases weight, cost, complexity, need for lithium mining, less serviceable, etc. Only Toyota managed to make a reliable hybrid, the rest are struggling still

che geni i signori della fiat! questa idea del multiair e davvero rivoluzionaria! bravi continuate cosi!

The servo controlled valves on just one side appear to be a hybridization of an engine that I see being developed by Koenigsegg. If one could accurately predict angular position and velocity with a sensor all that cam follower stuff could be done away.

you‘re one of those morons who don‘t service their cars right? or use different oils than what fiat recommends? and then you go cry around when something fails. classy.
@MrSpacelyy3 жыл бұрын
@@South4153 that's not nice. I used everything that was needed. Even the special brand of oil. Yes there are different brands with the same specs, but I used the special fiat advised. Because I know about the oil being really important. But you call me morron. Sad. The previous owners might have used the wrong oil. Even so the valve system should just unscrew. That's what happened. It's badly made. Also fiat have changed the design somewhat the newer versions don't fall apart like that. Yes my model had the earlier crappy multi air unit. So no about the morron mister namecaller troll. Also do research, the oil doesn't cause the valve plungers to unscrew, that was a design flaw.

This is so true, however I believe that Fiat won't be selling this technology.. Back in the day they needed the money when they sold their technology but that isn't the case today and I hope they realize that they certainly would make a bigger profit to keep this and future technology in their own cars!
@Negotinus15 жыл бұрын
Yes man that would be nice to keep their projects to their own cars, MiTO is such a great car, MULTI-LIFT engines RULES, we will see if they sell stuff for money, but you are probably right, they are big ow and have big revenue!!! FORZA ITALIA, FORZA ALFISTI!!!

@Sanyey comparing Opel and Fiat / Alfa, with my experience, Opel is much more resistant but not more faster! My uncle has a blue Opel Kadett by Bertone! That is indeed a car for life! Never let him down. My brother had a Alfa Romeo 147...he had so many electric problems... My girlfriend had a Mito...in one year, she had to go three times already to a car workshop...

"Fiat Powertrain Technologies" is made up of engineers from Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Lancia :) hope this helps... also the problem of running 170hp from a 1.4 is greater strain on various running gear (meaning shorter maintenance and part replacement intervals). This is proven by the factory service schedule - timing belt needs to be changed every 65,000km and various additional checks (normally 100,000-120,000kkm for similar sized engines). Oil change frequency is also much shorter (every 3months at most).
