I had the unbelievable opportunity to work on the set of season 2 as a stand-in, a background person and *ahem* a hand 😂 There is a brief shot of my hand holding a sketch of the Crestwood 5 and a shot where I walk through a park I also got to rehearse many scenes as Brit’s character and the feeling was indescribable! Nothing less than spiritual- When the show was canceled I was devastated because I was desperate to have that feeling again To me, it really does feel like I’ve been denied access to a very dear and powerful dimension At least I’ll always have those memories ❤

Something that’s stuck with me is Homer’s dream in Season 2 where he dreams of gathering reeds/sticks for a mystic woman in what appears to be medieval times. He does this in exchange to touch/taste a rack of skins that look like human bodies kept partially out. Was this dream metaphorical? Does it foreshadow him being a figment of The OA’s imagination? Would Homer be stranded in another dimension in season 3? Is this woman another Katune?

The craziest part of this whole show for me is that everything hinges on Brit Marling not going completely insane and believing her own meta, fourth-wall breaking story she's telling. Unless she does believe it, and is insane/we are all insane for not believing her because it's actually real/cue the actual crazy I was just talking about. Anyway needless to say my mental health is not that robust, and my first reaction to the reveal at the end of season 2 was "I hope Brit Marling is okay and actually able to bear the weight of this story, because it's intense, and where they just took it feels almost taboo/abusive in how mind fucky it is."

Great analysis! Although, to be honest, I would've hated it if the other haptives turned out to be imaginary. After all, Prairie's love for Homer is her fuel. It would render all her jumps and will to go on, the very roots of her character, meaningless

As much as I admire your analysis, my opinion is that her love to Homer is key to her character, so are his existence and his struggles. Your theory that haptives don't exist doesn't miss the point, but neither does my feeling that Homer is important.

This breakdown was SOOOOO interesting and in depth. I just rewatched it since my first watch through years ago. Your idea of it looping back is so interesting to me because one image that stuck out to me in S1 was Nina in school as a child with her classmates in a circle and tanks in front of them holding snakes or other animals. Also, the ouroboros is symbolized through a snake, which Nina happens to be holding. I think you've nailed it. And I really hope we get to see seasons 3-5 in their entirety some day through brit and zal's eyes.

My analysis is totally different. I believe the OA means Original Angel. That’s why at the end of season 2 she ascended like a dove in the air which is biblical. Luke 3:22 “and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from Heaven; “You are my Beloved Son, in you I am well pleased.” I honestly believe it was getting too eye opening to people who believe in God and the Bible and we all know Hollywood doesn’t support that.

I've watched this show COUNTLESS times, and I never realised it's meant to be a palindrome. If you draw out the idea of that mirroring visually, you end up with the A in OA. Dimension/season 3 is the peak of the literal letter 'A' and season 4 would mirror season 2 (where the A links together) with season/dimension 1 and season 5 returning us to the same place (ground)

Is there a possibility that Season 3 started when Netflix “canceled” the show? That the IRL storyline has been occurring ever since and now Season 4 has now begun as “A Murder at the End of the World” with all the audience members being part of solving the puzzle? I actually think it fits in to some of your theory! The first 2 episodes of “A Murder at the End of the World” just have far too many OA references for me not to see it as a continuation.

The thing is that Brit Marling didn't have an accident in our dimension that lead to the cancellation + the OA isn't filmed in England as it is in S3 ... so those are clues that our dimension and S3 are not exactly the same But AMATEOTW is related somehow to the OA, the question is, is it as a season or as a prequel ?

What I find surprising is that there is no reference to Carlos Castaneda, particulary the magical passes.. tensegrity, which goes into tremendous depth on the movements and what they are for and what they can do, even how they were discovered and the history of them and so on. The OA was one of the most interesting shows I have ever seen, and it inspired me to learn the five movements. It was obvious to me that season 2 was crammed together out of elements that should have extended to at least 3 seasons. It's a shame. There are so many horrible shows like "From" that just go on and on milking the same theme over and over for another cliffhanger into another season conceptually the same as the first.

Second, I rewatched show commentary just today and I started to think. They at at the ind of season 2 get stuck as actors in our world and she doesn't remember herself. We know that. But Steve has been transported in our wourl by mistake when window was opened by Kareem. If they are stuck in our world what does that actually mean? Are we supposed to write the script? My theory on why this series failed, is because its too brainy. I say this bevause I habe a 137 IQ, and this happens to EVERY show that I like. Also, unless I share shows I like with other high IQ individuals, they never gain am interest. This has become a trend, because average IQ, has been in a frightening plumet, ever since social media became ubiquitous.
