Why is no one talking about how the CURRENT drummer who has been the drummer for like 7 years is not at all mentioned (Danny Wagner)
@AmericanMick13

I just came here to say the same thing. Their original drummer, while he did play it some amateur gigs and rehearsing their garage, he was never on any of their recordings from the record label. He's never toured with them. It's always been Daniel Wagner. The band did not solidify to Greta Van Fleet until Danny came on board. And I might be wrong, but I don't even think they were Greta Van Fleet with the first drummer in their garage. I don't even think they had a name at that point. It's always been Danny!❤

Same, the first time I heard Safari Song I was immediately feeling Led and put the image of classic muscle cars in a chase (funny it wasn't Highway Tune that did this 😁). Almost all movies are remakes. A lot of video games are and then there is Skyrim that got re-released 10 trillion times. This is nothing new and they can do it, especially since Zeppelin allegedly borrowed most of their songs and gave no credit to anyone, but themselves.

@@coldloner7453Then listen to some artist that is trying to make something new, and not an act that is just making old sound. There's nothing bad in linking them, but the sound they have going for has already been made, and I think that is better for the genre to just evolve, rather than live from old glory.
@michaeldeloach838
@michaeldeloach838 Жыл бұрын
@vixo551 Did you say the same in the 90s when the old classic rock sound came back and started a whole new genre? When grunge came out, it was musicians my age who grew up listening to classic rock and punk. It brought back the simplicity of song writing and recording. It was raw and unpolished like original classic rock. It brought back the instruments like the Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat and Tele, and Fender Jazz and P basses, big open drums, wah wah pedals, and psychedelic sounds and looks. The Black Crowes were the new Rolling Stones. Pearl Jam guitar solos sounded a bit like Jimi Hendrix solos. Everyone preferred analog recording over digital and preferred old mics and live band recording to get that classic rock vibe. Even still, the music that came from it was new. GVF may have captured the old sound and look but their music is uniquely their own. Rival Sons and a bunch of other bands have songs that sound exactly like Zeppelin too. So did Kingdom Come and Whitesnake back in the late 80s. Who cares? It's all great music.

I actually had someone argue with me that a song on the radio was Zeppelin, and I was telling him it was these guys, and he couldn't believe me. This was about 4yrs ago, I think, when there earlier music was playing. I'm now 66, and the guy was about 3yrs younger than me,so we grew up on Zeppelin. I said,ok, name what album it's from, and he couldn't. Don't know if I ever convinced him who it actually was. He's one of those who lives in their delusions. Hahaha

They are not the only real rock band today. They are the best rock band today. I am young and I can say that KGWL, Pond, PP Crumpets and all those australian clones dont stand a chance compared to Greta Van Fleet. They are hyped on the Internet and Reddit, but not even remotely close to GVF musicianship and originality (those australians all sound the same). Tame Impala is the exception tho, he’s an absolute genius, easily the best musician of the last 15 years.

Its the boomer energy mixed with the unoriginal sound and lack of personality from them. It makes it feel less like an original band and more of an American knock-off of Zeppelin. And I think they're talented. But it's been done before... by Zeppelin.
@Gorbgorbenson
@Gorbgorbenson 27 күн бұрын
@Tityretupatulae You are outside of your mind if you think PPC and KGLW are less original than Greta Van Fleet. Kglw changes their style consistently. Ppc is also very unique, though they havea consistent sound throughout their records. As for musicianship, I havent heard anything by them that blew my mind the way that music from King Gizzard or Porn Crumpets has. High Visceral pt. 1 is a masterpiece of an album and was one of the only ones where I would listen to a song off it and want to listen to the entire album again. KGLW has music for nearly any occasion due to their wide variety of sounds. GVF are talented, but it's nothing I havent heard before with Led Zeppelin, and even then, there's more interesting content in Zepppelin songs. The first 5 seconds of Nootmare by Psychedelic Porn Crumpets is absolutely incredible alone.

I stood there after the 40 minute show and thought “these guys just robbed everyone here” I’ve never felt a more corporate fake sickness in my stomach than when he said “I love you guys” and ran off back to the party bus. it was the lamest experience I’ve ever had at any live show.

Melodically and musically, they are a very good band. I think your opinion is disrespectful and skewed. I rly like gvf but i understand their likeness to Led Zeppelin, but they’re not the same (or i suppose not a stolen sound). So I personally wouldn’t classify them as a tribute band. A tribute band with original content is an oxymoron. I see peoples distaste and I understand it however .. look at all the bands that didn’t get ridicule for attempting to sound like zeppelin but missed the mark. These kids have nailed it on the head and everyone’s acting like they didn’t succeed at what many failed at. Writing original zeppelin songs with as much power and umph as zeppelin. I don’t think they are a zeppelin replacement because thats impossible. But a zeppelin extension which I can’t be mad at. I’d rather have ten zeppelin rip offs playing in my speakers then half the dropped g# tuned cookie cutter pig squeals tracks.

I’ve seen some impressive fanart of them. Surprised there isn’t more, they’re aesthetic, from the mystic style costumes, to the music, the message conveyed of peace, love, and joy, the mythical music videos, and the lyrics that take you to another dimension in storytelling, they have a resonating stage presence. It screams, mystic, psychedelic rock. Hope to see them visit Indiana one day.

They need to quit pretending that they aren't wholly inspired by Led Zeppelin.It's not a coincidence that they sound like Led Zeppelin. That's what they aimed for they hit it quite well. They should own it instead of trying to pretend that they're unique and original, independent of their blatantly obvious inspiration. They should throw some Led Zeppelin covers into their repertoire

I don’t see why people fault them for sounding like the legends of rock. They don’t only sound like Led Zeppelin. You can find sounds of Styx and AC/DC as well among many other artists. That’s just how music is and has been for a very long time. People get inspired and they do emulate what is inspirational to them. If you grew up listening to the same music, do you think you would completely have no ties to what you grew up jamming out to? I’m a singer and I know I personally have threads of my favorite artists in my voice. It’s what I grew up with. It makes sense. It’s more so flattery and adoration. Not a money grab. If it were a money grab or shtick they wouldn’t be able to even attempt the things they do because the talent wouldn’t be there. The style and swagger wouldn’t be present. Of course they have the stylists and what not but that’s show biz. Just my humble opinions that no one will read or care about lol. I love them and weirdly proud of them.

Wow, this comment section is crazy. All above I understand why people believe they sound like Led Zeppelin however, Greta has constantly been an inspiration to me in the way they create and engineer their own sound when they take inspiration from folk punk, rock, and blues, Greta Van Fleet protest problems with capitalism, industrialization And many of the things that humanity fails at. At the same time they like to highlight how humanity thrives and how we love each other and view each other . I think that instead of hating and telling everybody that they are awful and just that’s just copying. Maybe we should see them for what they are, People who appreciate classic rock and know what a good sound is. They have good ideals and care, and for those of you who are too petty to understand that because you are ignorant and think that classic rock is the epitome of all creation, and that anybody who tries to create a similar sound, while having their own variation, and having some sort of creativity Are those who buy into blasphemy. Greta Van Fleet is a beautiful band and I have thoroughly enjoyed their music throughout the years just because you are too nearsighted to understand that doesn’t mean they’re bad so please stop hating because it’s the very thing they stand against. Rock and roll is about love so your hate is unwelcome.
