In HOI4, you don't need to ask "what air defence doing?", as you are in control of it, can not worry about the Javelins, as they haven't been invented yet and can actually finish the war in 3 days! Crazy notions, but all of them are true: play.heartsofiron.com/KingsAndGenerals! HOI4 is free to play right now!

@Kings and Generals Thank you for this video, it's very informative and helpful, thank you for that. I have a suggestion which you can do later on, can you do a video based on the Lake Khasan 1938 just like you did with the battle of khalkin Gol 1939? It'll be beneficial for the context of the Pacific War series which helps to explain why the Japanese didn't invade Soviet Union, especially when Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941. Thank you once again for the video, and please let me know soon what you think.

Tis the game of empire, and the world where sphere's of influence dominated. Colonial empires telling other colonial empires they can't have more colonies goes all the way back to Portugal and Spain were bickering over south america. Even before that, the game of empires could be seen when Rome was Telling the Seleucid empire they couldn't have Egypt as a province, Same thing with the Romans and dozens of barbarian tribes to other barbarian tribes, The Byzantines and the Goths in Italy, the Byzantines and the Sassanids over Armenia, etc. Considering it ironic is true, but ignores the motives, interests and realities on the ground.

Ethiopian history is probably one of the most underrated histories of any nation around. At least with other “underrated histories”, like with Eastern European countries or Persia or the Aztecs/Inca, they get brought up in discussions about countries with underrated histories. But Ethiopia’s history is a truly wild ride from start to finish, and it never really gets brought up since it didn’t have a massive impact on European society. (Of course, it’s understandable that North Americans and Europeans would pay the most attention to North America and Europe, but it still means you miss out on a lot of cool stories and events from elsewhere.) If you ever find the time, I’d highly recommend at least skimming the Wikipedia page for the History of Ethiopia, or reading about some of Ethiopia’s emperors, such as the guy who was made emperor despite having no political experience and being raised alone in a monastery and then proceeded to solve every military and religious dispute the country had (Zara Yaqob), or the guy who converted the entire country to Catholicism for like 10 years (Susenyos), or the guy who was coronated and deposed six separate times (Tekle Giyorgis I). There’s a lot of hilariously improbable tales of survival and ridiculous wars that match the Italo-Ethiopian Wars in their vibe, so it’s definitely worth taking a look in my opinion.

Something interesting about the other list of things the League of Nations was involved in was how the Italian invasion of Corfu was resolved Much like the Italo-Ethiopian war, it completely favoured Italy when the conflict was resolved, even though Greece was never at fault (or proven to be) for any of it It started because an Italian general, Enrico Tellini was helping Albania and Greece defy a border in 1923, but was killed by unknown murderers in Greece. Italy used this as a reason to invade Corfu when the Greek government's response was not one to Italy's liking (for example refusing the payment of 50 million lires) Greece got the rough end of the resolution when the League told Greece she had to pay and enact certain events that would signify apology for Tellini's murder, despite the cause of his murder never truly being identified. Just many examples of the League favouring bigger nations and disregarding smaller ones because all they have to do is threaten to leave the League or something akin to that Great video as always

Random fact about the devision of Asia: the Nazis and japanese planned to conquer all of Asia except for Afghanistan. Under the instructions of the Hitler regime, the plan was that the empire of Japan and the third Reich meet at central Asia and south Asia but strictly avoid any invasion of Afghanistan.

@@OutletR I agree Ethiopia is the correct and native term but Abyssinia is not a new name. It's atleast more than a 1000 years old. For example, in Islamic Hadith the term used is Al habesh, which is very clearly the Arabic version of Abyssinia.

An extremely relevant set of stories from the past - history is yet being written but my hope is the example of the betrayal of Ethiopia and the failure of nations to defeat aggression and/or appease dictatorships is not lost on the present. It may cost a great deal of lives and treasure, but far less to strangle a nascent tyranny bent on conquest than to ignore it and see it grow emboldened and threaten even more nations.

A short historical fact that could have been mentioned is during that speech in June 1936, our Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Titulescu famously reacted to the buffoonery exhibited by the Italian journalists when Emperor Haile Selassie I spoke to the League after Ethiopia had been invaded and occupied by Fascist Italy. He jumped to his feet and shouted: "To the door with the savages!". After that the Italian journalists were thrown out of the room in order to let the Emperor of Ethiopia continue his speech.
