How they keep a FLEET of drift cars running!

The School of Drift keeps a fleet of drift cars running, and I was curious to chat with Kelly about how they do it! Kelly has lots of experience with working with the manufacturer side of car development, and I wanted to see how he was applying that knowledge, and the knowledge Chelsea DeNofa has into keeping a fleet of drift cars running. They picked E36 M3 drift cars as they seem to be super reliable, easy to service, and obtainable.

I'm currently working on four E90 race cars. This interview is so relatable. The check up of cars are the same, check every little piece and part of the car form bottom to top. One time i just hang on the power steering hose while taking a look at the engine from underneath and the hose bolt was just lose enough not to leek, so a problem spotted before it happened. And about the clutch topic, every single part of the car is like that (its E90 325 CUP, so every car needs to be very similar to the stock car, regulations allow certain mods to the car, so every little thing matters), currently one car is having problems with brakes, and we are just trying to find the one little thing that messes everything up. A day we make more than 200km on track with one car. And also we had an E36 with BC coils, after a hard track day the locking collar would loosen. But it's the track that does it, take Nordschleife, put shitty tarmac and alot of bumpy corners and you have this amazing track called "Nemuno ziedas"

Kelly cut and welded some s13 flca for me and sold them to me like 10 yrs ago at a in-n-out parking lot in arizona when I lived down there. He's always been a cool dude.

i kinda feel bad for him. working so many hours in a tent shop to then live in a van. getting told hes too slow, exagerates that hes cold etc. it may not be like that but thats what I got out of this short video. also bmw's are tanks and now that I left my e46 for a silvia I drive less and it sucks haha

With his skillset he can easily get a different job if he wanted. Some people choose that minimal lifestyle. What i got out of the video was hes an incredibly passionate guy that loves what hes doing. He doesnt need a lot to be happy, which we need more of today. He also goes to ebisu every now and again, so he probably values that over other luxuries

Who cares if he's living in a van. There are popular youtubers that live in vans and make tons of money from it. It's about being happy, and when your work is what you would be doing even if you weren't paid for it, then it's not a job, it's your passion.

I can attest to the wheels and tire rods damage at the school,, and you only need to be in 2nd at parc after turn 1 for short course.
