I believe it, knowing his legends version he might be the only non-force user to actually be able to kill Vader and Sidious, especially if he had those force repellent creatures from the books, he was intelligent enough to realize when a different Admiral took over in space battles just by looking and seeing what happened, the only way Vader and Sidious would be able to tell is by the force.

Thrawn is morally ambiguous Star Wars Batman. He likely has a plan to kill anyone he meets. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he has a plan for taking out the emperor, if it became necessary.

Actually, this is a brilliant move by Thrawn. He must know that Vader can potentially sense treason. So if Vader ever gets a flash of treason from Thrawn, Vader has no way of knowing if he's plotting to act or merely going over his contingency plans while his mind is idol.

Great video. Thrawn may have used the Purgill, as a way to cut his loses with the Empire. He would have know that the defeat at Lothal would put him a difficult position with the Emperor and he was already on bad terms with Vader. It would be a good time to disappear, he had more to lose than to gain by sticking around.

I love Thrawn, the Chiss and the story potential all of this opens up, but does every good, likeable character have to leave the Empire? Granted, we know what messed up stuff happens post-Endor (Operation Cinder, Contingency, First Order) so I can't even genuinely blame anyone, but as a fan of the Empire, I am just getting very frustrated with how the canon treats it specifically after RotJ. I adore the redemption arc it has in Legends, the idea that hey, the system can work relatively well with adjustments and the right people. Now even Thrawn, one of the big champions of the Empire in Legends, prefers leaving it to protect his people directly... again, a great many stories of the Chiss Ascendancy and Unknown Regions can be told that way and that is something I am excited for, but it seems to come at the cost of something else that I love. Honestly having some conflicted feelings here.

Makes sense, even if it's nothing personal, seems only logical and in character with what someone like Thrawn would do. Be prepared in case a powerful ally but in a heartbeat can become a lethal enemy that he ALSO knows is shady with a tendency to betrayal Thawn would want to be ready for such a "just in case" moment. Since if not.. we all know what Vader can do.. Which wouldn't help Thrawn or his people's plans

Assuming the Chimaera and the 7th fleet ended up in the Unknown Regions it's plausible, if not even likely, that the first responder would be Eli Vanto. That would lead Thrawn and Ezra strait to Chiss space. On the matter I wonder whether the 7th fleet will be salvageable, if so it would be a great prize (and the start of canonic Imperial/Chiss hybrid designs which would be super cool to see)

Thrawn has more to work with when it comes to studying Vader than when it came to Ezra, so I don't think he would be caught off guard (as much) as he was when it came to the Purgills (those space whales).

That’s beautiful! I think that would be amazing if Thrawn and Ezra made peace, as Thrawn no longer had any reason to be against him, and EITHER, Ezra leaves in peace, OR maybe even begins to help Thrawn, either by his moral compass, or by force, by being attached and drawn into the conflict. I’d LOVE Ezra to join Thrawn and become trusted allies, but I don’t want Ezra to be out of the empire situation for all that time. Maybe Ezra helps Thrawn for a time, until Ahsoka finds them, or until some initial battle(s) r over. Either way, I really respect Thrawn, and would LOVE for him to be on the “side of good” in our view.

I believe Thrawn had kept many top Imperial technology, including schematics for the TIE Defender aboard the ships of the 7th Fleet so when the 7th Fleet was thrown into hyperspace by the Purgill, Thrawn had the fleet, manpower, and the technology to assist the factions he supports in the Chiss Civil War. Why would the 7th follow Thrawn into the Civil War instead of helping the Empire? Note that those under Thrawn are fiercely loyal to him and I bet Thrawn personally chose people who are not completely loyal to the Emperor or had considered defecting to join his forces so it would be easier for them to transition from fighting for the Empire, to fighting for the Chiss.

didn't that whole scene with Ezra and Thrawn heavily imply that they both died once the hyper-speed was engaged? all of Ezra's companions were treating it as his death scene hell Ezra before he engaged the hyperdrive was treating the scene as his death scene. and if you think about it, it makes sense that a hyperjump with the ships hull breached wouldn't be something they should be able to survive. I don't really watch the various star wars cartoons so I don't know if anything indicates he survives somehow.

Considering his pragmatic calculating nature, I would be more surprised if Tbrawn DIDN'T have a plan to kill Vader OE any other officer(Imperial or otherwise) with enough power to be a potential threat. Lots of people wanted a Vader dead and for good reason. Vader was a loose cannon with a penchant for killing high ranking officers. I would go so far as to say that the Empire would have been better off without him. The thrawn comics highlight one issue over all others. That issue is his hair cut. Why did he cut his hair? It was a good look. I would pay through the nose for hair like that.😁

You can map a galaxy onto paper no problem. Easy way would just be to flatten(along orbital plane) the stars and use color to show distance from orbital plane. Another type that would be really handy for navigation would be a undirected weighted graph edges are paths between stars and the weight is the distance; that is the same type of map GPSs use to find optimal paths and there is nothing stopping it from being used to map a galaxy.

Thrawn is not the kind that takes battles directly, he is cunning and he knew that if he tries to face against someone with a similar ability as vader directly, he will lose. His mind is his advantage to offset the lack of force ability. Thrawn would at least study some bits of the force and try to adapt his methods in dealing with it (scenario)

Except that Superman has weakness: Kryptonite. It basicly reduces him from near god level to a mortal level. Vader has no such weakness, in Legends Thrawn did have yisalamari (or something like that, I don't remember how was it spelled) they were lizards that created a bubble that made the Force not work, but they are non canon.

@@fly672 True. In the original EU, one could use ysalmir & cortosis (mentioned in the video) to counter force-users. Thrawn could make use of cortosis made weapons, armor or battle droids very effectively. Enough to kill Vader. Or lure Vader into a trap & orbital bombard him into oblivion.

Legends: Hand of Thrawn Trilogy Outbound Flight Canon: Thrawn Thrawn: Alliances anything Timothy Zahn touches, basically. Highly recommend the audiobook for the Thrawn/Alliances books, they're like radio dramas.
