I had just been on a trip where the other passengers stuffed their luggage on top of mine in the trunk during the car rid ehome. They had a bottle of wine in their luggage that broke and destroyed EVERYTHING in my bad; I couldn't not get the stains out and had to throw away several thousands worth of clothing. The culprits refused to reimbursed me. Anyway, as a result I was short on clothes on had to dig into a pile of discarded clothes in poor condition (it was difficult to get times in at thecomplez' laundry room and some asshat had thrown away several loads of my clothes the previous time I did laundry). I had ordered new clothe sbut they wouldn't be arriving for a few more days. So, I was dressed in a very old skirt and as I walking down this corridor filled with kids aged 12- 16 I suddenly felt how the elastic around the waist snapped. Two seconds later the elastic in my panties decide dthat they also had had enough and there I was, with my panties and skirt on the ground and my naked ass and well, front, on display. I completely froze from embarrassment. This was almost 20 years ago - today I would have gone viral as someone surely would have picked up their phone and filmed the funny video of the fat teacher who dropped her clothes har har - but for some weird reason only two 13 year girls noticed what happened out of the probably 80+ students. They were by my side within milliseconds; one in front of me and the other behind, blocking me from view as they helped me get my clothes back on and comforted me. I am eternally grateful for those two angels. And yes, the skirt and panties went straight in the trash when I came home. That school for whatever reason was were all my worst experiences as a teacher took place; I had worked there a few years previously when I went to work with food poisoning. It's a long story but my students were freaking out over the exam I had scheduled for that day and I HAD to be there to comfort them. Bwaha. We had just started the the exam when my students informed me that my face was green. And then I became violently ill and puked all over the room. Truly horrendous, but the kids were very sweet. They did fine at the exam too.

I inherited GAD and MDD from my father who unallved himself when I was 10. My anxiety at that point had triggered my seizure disorder. When I was in fifth grade I had a camisole strap sticking out of my tee shirt sleeve (I didn’t have bra’s yet) and my teacher walked up to me and grabbed the strap and harshly shoved it back under the shirt with her whole hand. As a German, I find it extremely strange that young people in the USA are treated like children and patronized by adults for a very long time, and on the other hand the bodies of small children are sexualized to such an extent that even three-year-old girls cover their (nonexistent) breasts when bathing in public. In Germany, children of that age often go completely naked on the beach and people think it’s normal. Because it is. Do you really have to protect a ten-year-old from looking up a young girl's skirt and seeing her underwear? Will he be traumatized otherwise, or what? Like I will always ask for help getting tag flipped down on the back of a shirt. A funny story that my mom experienced was when she was traveling in the 80s. She was in Japan at a supermarket and had gone to the bathroom. While she had buckled the top of her skirt, she had forgotten to zip it and her slip was visible. She said that a man in the store practically ran from her to get a female staff who tried her hardest to convey to my mom English only speaking mom what happened. Thankfully my mom was able to zip her skirt and ends the story by saying that it felt like the whole store sighed in relief XD

I know it's not the same thing, but what you said just gave me a flashback to when I was 10 years old and going to a haunted house with my friend. There were these people in demon masks with long tongues hanging out and it was the first time I had ever seen a mask like that. I'm Australian - I've HEARD (never experienced) of this thing called 'no shirt no service'. Which basically means if you're inappropriately dressed for the restaurant, staff will stop you at the door and ask you to leave and come back appropriately dressed. I've never seen it happen, i think it's reserved for really specific situations like 'hey you can't wear flip flops (we call them thongs, you get the point) in this five star restaurant. Please come back wearing closed shoes. But essentially, if a girl walks in wearing something you think is inappropriate but she isn't stopped by staff, you can't do shit. It's not your call. I agree that whatever she's wearing isn't an excuse for a random person to touch her, and it really didn't sound like the police blamed her at all, but it's possible they still needed to make sure she hadn't actually flashed any children because that's still illegal. Although I've heard from an officer that it's only really illegal if a minor sees genitalia, not booty cheeks. Or... maybe the police just wanted to see a young girl in a miniskirt, idk. Even if it was the classic “skirt stuck in the underwear” scenario and the full bum was visible it’s still not acceptable to put your hands on someone else’s body. All she had to do was say “hey excuse me, idk if you know but your skirt is riding up and we can see your butt” it would have taken like 5 seconds and saved that girl so much embarrassment. She probably felt so freaking violated having that woman stick her hands up under skirt and pull it down like that. Despicable.

I once had that happen to me (skirt stuck in my underwear) as I was merrily walking up to the local elementary school to pick up my kid. Bless the woman who immediately jumped into action and let me know. I think the term "legal secretary" is still in use because it does require experience working in a law office, and "legal assistant" is an existing and different role, so there's not really anything else to call them without getting super complicated.
