in general, soup is meaant to be HOT. You eat it slow like your mother taught you. (You would also be a decent person if your mother taught you.) I go to a certain taco place and I would order chalupas. They would come out blazing hot, but as far as I'm concerned it was really good that way. I never complained to the manager when they started coming out cold. I felt cheated. like it rested on the counter too long.

I can see not eating soup that a plastic lid has melted into. Heated plastic leeches toxins into your food. BUT she could have returned it, got her refund or asked them for another that wasn’t heated so much. Starbucks heats their food way to hot for me so I asked them to not heat it up as long. I've worked in the food and hospitality industry for almost ten years now, ever since I was eighteen. It just baffles me that so many people will come into restaurants and treat the employees like shit. I worked through covid-19 and the level of entitlement and threats I saw was insane, all because we required guests to wear a mask when they weren’t at their tables. The worst experience for me personally was during Christmas 2023 (almost a year now) and I was working Christmas Eve. Guests were sitting at their tables for up to 2 hours, which is unusual and also detrimental because many of those tables were large parties and therefore left us with less tables for everyone else. Reservations were delayed for two hours and guests got up in my face to scream at me for ruining their night. The cherry on top was this awful woman who full on screamed in my ear and said I was a shitty employee. Why? Because she didn’t get a booth seat. Despite being told that it was unlikely if she wanted to get sat sooner. Some people are just horrible, and it's incredibly telling for me. If you treat a service industry worker poorly, then I can only assume you yourself are not the nicest person. If you treat a stranger like that, I can only imagine how you treat your friends and family. If you have any who still talk to you.

Even if the soup had cooled down it would still be hot enough to cause burning and irritation, this would increase the pepper spray type effects of the soup ingredients. The manager is very lucky to have not been more severely injured, and the thrower is lucky none of the line staff got to her. The Back of House employees in every place I've ever worked have been willing to throw hands for far less.

I love hot temp food. There has only been one occasion where things were too hot. I made the dish. I put in the freezer for 1 min. 1 MINUTE! being foul takes so much energy. 😄Also, SPICES. If you can bare- handle those spices then hold yourself to pee, don't throw them in peoples faces.
