When the filter screws straight up into the engine, you should always add oil to your filter and fill it up to near the top. It will give your engine lubrication immediately after starting it. A dry start is the worst thing for your engine even if it lasts only a few seconds.

You should make sure you can get the oil filter off BEFORE draining the oil.

Make sure car oil isn't hot if you remove the filter and plug without gloves. Thanks for the video.

ive come to find fords have poor design/lots of problems in general. think here wat hes referring to is when he took the filter off it spilled fluid all over his hand

Probably no problem with the filter. Because the filter hangs vertically you can't get out of the way quickly enough to avoid getting oil all down your arm, as in the video.

The only thing I do differently is that I fill the new filter with oil before installing.

if u stop adding oil when its on the full mark then u start the engine it fills the filter u need to start it for few minutes then shut it off an recheck your oil

Changed oil, now antitheft has come on and I can't start my car. Tried lots of tricks with the battery. On/off etc including with key inserted and turned on inbetween

Same unfortunate problem with my '08, turns out the ignition cylinder was faulty and repairs costs too much. Decided to install a 'push to start' kit and just avoid that whole hassle. Now she starts like an Angel ☺️

My manual says for 4 cylinder you need to replace the oil filter plug O-ring with every oil change (in addition to the oil filter normal O-ring). Does anyone know what they are talking about? Do they mean the oil PAN drain plug O-ring? I've never heard of such an extra step in all the oil changes I have done. Says if not replaced oil could leak and cause engine damage. Thanks

Thats if your model has the cartridge type filter. This video shows a screw on type filter. not the reusable cartridge type which has two o rings to replace.
