HOW TO :2015 dodge ram 1500 evap canister replacement

Just the info I was looking for. BIG THANKS! I need to do some testing on canister to see if its reason tank not accepting gas. Got a decent smoke tester through Amazon to narrow things down. Glad to see tank drop not necessary for access to ports on canister. Also did a partial drop and partial bed lift on F250 fuel pump sender housing job. Did the swap fix the issues your lady was having with the vehicle?

It fixed my wife's trucks issue no more hard start. No more shuttin off the gas pump constantly. Its been runnin good so far.

@@Weezysfabandmechanical I have had the same issues. So was it just the vapor canister that fixed the issue or was it more? I replaced purge valve solenoid, leak detector. Imma bout to drop $300 on a new vapor canister and I wanted to make sure. Thanks for this video it was hard to find anything that would help me.

Yes it was the vapor canister causing the issue.

@@Weezysfabandmechanical that's my problem, the damn pump kicking off so I can only fill it at such a slow rate it takes 20-25 mins to fill the damn thing - I have the cannister, got it from Mopar America for $110, but it was $30 for shipping ffs :/ Got the purge control valve as well

just wondering if removing the bed is not easier than partial tank drop, i know most trucks fuel pump and other tank issues suggest bed removal.

Dropping tank would have been harder, i didnt change the pump in this video it was easier to do what i did on my lift but removing the bed is easy before i had my lift i unbolted the rear bumper, unboled bed and took ratchet straps to the trusses and to the bed and winched it up and drove the truck out from under it and swapped the pump and redone everything dropping the tank is an option but i chose not to the exhaust on this truck is duals and also would have risked breaking the plastice lines. I did what i thought was the best from what little i could research on this. But its easy enough the way i had done it. Im sure if you dont have options to pull bed or put on a lift that would work

I do not 100 percent remember what all i had to do but it was plenty easy doin it the way i did. But it may be just as easy pullin the bed too but i had the lift to work with and i did pull the bed once and its really not hard if you have a way to lift it even by yourself you can figure out a way to do things without fancy tools

@@Weezysfabandmechanical Thanks, My 20 Classic started not accepting fuel at the pump and looks like this canister or the whole tank needs replaced to fix. @ different issues cause it to nut accept fuel proper. Only 50k on it kinda bummed that it is happening.

Did you figure out what the part was that you found after removing the canister?

I did not. Thinkin some sort of check vavle for the vent. Truck is running good no issues so far.

What ended up being your code or issue to replace the canister? I’ve been chasing a P0441 low evap performance code. No leaks, new purge valve. Thinking this is my next option.

Just kept having purge valve and the tank gas cap codes weekly. Changed the canister and its just throwing the purge valve code because i havent changed it to a new one and new parts are junk anymore. But it runs and starts up like it should now.

What was the initial cause for needing to do a canister swap? I’m having an issue where my Laramie won’t except fuel.

I'm having a same/similar issue. Took off vent hose made sure it wasn't clogged. Have trouble filling, only takes a few cents and then starts to overflow even tho it's near empty. Gas could be getting into my cannister at least. Trying to remove it and empty any gas in it and hoping to at least be able to fill up normally again

That is the issue it got to. Would not take fuel at the pump while running. And also i think it done it while shut off before i swapped it. But hard start after fueling up is a good sign with the not venting enough to pump at the station

Check your vent valve on the canister and the purge valve at the engine if those are being replaced and getting a code for check fuel cap go ahead and replace the canister. It will fix it atleast did for my wife's truck.

Im trying to do this without dropping the tank. Heat sheild is blocking me from the front of the vapor cannister connections. Not using a lift either

It can be done without the lift just have to have a pretty empty tank undo the filler neck and just shift it around till it drops i dont remember how exactly i did it but you have to take the shield off
