Lot's of parts to remove and put back together to change the air filter but you will be able to do it quickly after doing it for the first time. Thanks for posting what you have so far, I think this is very interesting.

it is sure a lot of work for an air filter hu!! I installed my Honda heated grips so I had everything off that needed to be off to change the air filter plus a little more... FYI if you remove the left or right side cowls that attach to the head light lens, they pull out on the back in the finger slot on the top of the cover first, then slide them FOWARD to get them out of the tab on the head light, found out the hard way....Lol.

+James L Yes, it is, but, Honda did make it with a Horizontal line design. It is different than the traditional vertical line design that is found on most bikes, like Harley Davidson, as well as Victory, and other motorcycles. Yes, that's true. Oh o.k. Thanks for the information on that.

This nonsense on chain/shaft-drives makes me want to go back to belt-drives. My Sportster was all out in the open.

That's quite a lot of steps to get at the Air-cleaner. My Previous ride Suzuki VS1400 was much the same, the rear air-cleaner is a 15 minute job, the front one you have to half strip the top off the bike to get at it, took about 3hours. Fortunately this is not a job you'll have to do to often.

+Seroom NZ Yep, there is a lot of steps to it. Oh, I did not know that. Yep, that is true. but when I do it for real, which will be, when the bike reaches 12,000 miles, it might be a little of a pain. I am uploading part 2 now. Part 3 will be done this Sunday. Yep, you can only imagine what it would cost me if I had the dealership do it. LOL :) I will probably change it either on my way back from the Run For The Wall ride, or maybe when I get home from the Run For The Wall event in D.C. next month.

When you get home will be fine, not something you want to do on the side of the road. Changing the air-cleaner exactly on time is neither here nor there.

Yeah doing your own wrenching saves heaps (when the warranty expires of course). I did my own brake and clutch flush, and although it took a whole afternoon and there were a few frustrating and comical moments, it was very satisfying. The funny moment was when I had the clutch just right, the neighbour stopped for a chat, i forgot the bleed valve was open and all the fluid ran out, it was full of air and I had to start from scratch LOL XD

Yep. It is amazing to me how much the CTX 1300 Service manual says to get to the airport cleaner.
