Very good video so far for part 1 and part 2 That is a lot of work. Hope you got every thing put back together ok. I, would not do part 3 until you really have to change the air filter. I know you have over 10,000 miles on your bike and you will most likely want to change it before your big trip. I think I would ask the Honda mechanic when you go get your air filter if there is some short cuts you could take. they do not always go by the book except for charging for the time it takes. Thanks for posting. Like your how to video's

+take two Thanks, I got everything back together, and I will probably do part 3 up to the point where I will show where the air cleaner is under the felt liner, or I will just wait until before the trip, and then do it then, like you said, and do it probably either at home, or at + Redneck Biker109 's place. I will ask a Honda mechanic about any shortcuts on Tuesday. Thanks. :-) I do like doing those. I might do a video on how to remove the saddlebags on my bike to show how different it is from the ST1300. I was also looking at eventually changing the way it is now to an easier way of taking them off like the ST 1300 has with an easy release.

8:44 That is one nice piece of kit. A word of advice tho', don't put that adjustable crescent spanner anywhere near your bike. Next paycheck get yer-self a set of combination ring/open-enders. In the range of 8mm to 19mm will cover everything, Honda mostly use 10-12-14-17. If you have the spanners and the sockets you have the lot.

+Seroom NZ Oh o.k. I do have a socket set. Use a lot of hand tools and not a socket set? I have a torque wrench as well. It is in the "Epic Adventures of my first oil change" series on my channel. I had a hell of a time trying to get the drain plug to come loose, because I think the dealership overtightened it, as well as the oil filter.

Every time I watch one of these how to videos I understand why motorcycle mechanics get $ 80.00 or more a hour to work on bikes .

Wow, I can't believe Honda can come up with a easier way to change the air filter on there bikes, the Goldwing air filter is a hard job too, on my VoyagerXII is only 4 screws to change it...
@renegadebiker248 жыл бұрын
+Metric64 I agree, yeah Honda made this bike to be horizontally made, so, I think that it does not usually follow a standard bike vertical formation of the engine placement. Since the engine is horizontally mounted, that is where they put the air cleaner. The air cleaner is underneath that black felt, and underneath the cover of that. Can you imagine how long it would take, if I took it to the dealership, and then had them change out the air filter. It would probably take them a long time just to get to it, like it is for me.

For a Goldwing an air filter change at the dealer is like $200+
@renegadebiker248 жыл бұрын
+Metric64 WOW!!! That is amazing.
@PanRider9398 жыл бұрын
+Metric64 I suppose they do what they have to, to suit the style and engine of the bike. The Suzuki S83 is not much better. However the ST1300 (the motor of which the CTX1300 is built around) it is a 20 minute job to change the air-cleaner.

Sorry, the last part, is kind of involved, and it requires me to take off the fairing to the tank, which can be a bear to do. Once I get to a point, to where I can get to it, in a garage, I will do the last part. That will require me trying to get a regular house, in which I am working on that now, instead of a mobile home with no garage.

On my Silverwing I have assessed what it takes to do mine and it is involved but dam nothing like that
@renegadebiker248 жыл бұрын
+Lorddarthvader1701 Yep, That is a lot of steps to do, just to get to the air cleaner, huh?? And yet, there's a few more steps to do.

Are you a comedian? Did you ever find the air filter????
@renegadebiker244 жыл бұрын
LOL, No comedian, but to find the air filter, it required me to do even more steps to get to it, like taking off the top of the gas fairing, in addition to the other side fairings, and the fairings around the radiator in addition to that, and I was so frustrated about it all, that I just gave up on it, and then take it to the stealership to do it, because I don't have a walk in garage at my place.

Nope, not anymore. I am working towards getting a 2018 Holding DCT.

@@renegadebiker24 Im planning on selling mine its a wonderful motor but the rest is trash honestly after a good review of the bike. I managed to get to the air filter without the manual.
