I achieved so much more clarity and peace when I got rid of most of my media platforms and I stopped talking to people who were constantly talking about their problems, because indeed they are addicted to drama. I also ditched the news and all of the negative and violent stuff. I don’t need the noise anymore and I’m so grateful for that. Also away from gossip people and negative Nancy’s. Decluttered your mind and the rest will fall into place.

1. Set priorities. We need to figure out what is most important to us. Ask What matters to you the most? 2. Be desicive . its okay to make a wrong decision and learn from it, than not making one 3. Avoid multitasking 4. Keep a journal. There are infinitely more what ifs than what is . so don't let your expectations limit yourself in reality.
@adeebusmani8232

Multitasking is something which we should try to avoid as much as possible. In the fast paced corporate world, it is seen as a badge of honour to be able to do many things at once. But the reality is, we work best when we do one thing with focus, concentration and intention . Now we are surrounded by so many interruptions, notifications, rings, beeps and so on. So it is even more important for us to guard our focus and not give in to the distractions. Do one thing at a time, and do it well !!

Absolutely love what you said! even at my job, I was rewarded for multitasking and working faster, but this definitely affected my quality of work. Also I love how you said we must "guard " our focus and not give in to distractions. Very true! Thank you so much for sharing your insight!

I really like your section on decision making. As somebody who thinks WAAAAY too much, I found myself over-analyzing things and not taking any action. And these weren't exactly big life-changing decisions that require considerable thought, but relatively small things that in the grand scheme of things were somewhat inconsequential. Thank you for sharing!

I think it becomes a habit, and then it becomes hard to break the pattern. I over analyze way too much as well and it just makes the whole situation even more complicated. Thanks for your comment Alex!

I completely agree with getting the mental clutter out of our head and onto paper. It’s one of the quickest ways we can regain our equilibrium. Not only does it free up space in the mind for me, because I’m a visual person it makes my thoughts even more clear by being able to see them on paper.
@MalamaLife
@MalamaLife 3 жыл бұрын
You said it so well Josh. Exactly the same for me, but I never had the words to articulate it like you! I am very visual and seeing my thoughts helps me gain clarity. Thank you always for your thoughtful comments. I am so happy that we connected through this space.

Hi Sophie! Excellent video! I love how you’ve applied minimalism as a framework for mental clarity. As well, you’ve provided great practical suggestions to achieve more clarity and mindfulness. And your advice is very useful in managing the day to day! As a career/executive coach, I’ve worked with a lot of people on achieving clarity. So, I wanted to share that another path in that quest is to discern life themes, as driven by your vision, purpose, values, and passions. It’s a longer process, but often results in powerful insights! How this is helpful.
@MalamaLife
@MalamaLife 3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your advice and insight Walter! Also, I admire your profession. I think it's wonderful that you provide a source of light for those who need to know their direction in life. I never thought about discerning life themes. That is such an interesting concept and now I'm curious to know my own. I'm sure it's not an overnight process, but now I will be always thinking about this. Thank you so much.
@WalterAkana
@WalterAkana 3 жыл бұрын
@@MalamaLife Hi Sophie! Thanks for your thoughtful feedback and kind words. Yes, coaching has been a rewarding career. It has its challenges, but is always rewarding when people have those “ah ha” insights that lead to more success. Work on life themes (i.e., what matters to a person) actually comes out of my personal branding work and relates to life and brand story discovery. You’re right, it’s definitely not an overnight process. Happily, without previously thinking in terms of “themes,” your videos show that you already have a strong grounding in what matters to you and your work comprises several important themes. So, for you, I believe thinking about your life purpose - i.e. “ikigai” - would be more beneficial. Here’s a post with a good four-circle framework that reflects what I focus on with people: www.sloww.co/ikigai/ Once, again, Sophie, thanks for taking the time to reply and share ideas. Much appreciated!

Hello from Australia 🇦🇺, thank you for the useful tips to clear the clutter in mind. You made me realise that I sometimes rely on my husband to make decisions, especially big decisions. You are right, because it’s easier to pass it to someone else than picking the best option by myself. Thank you for the tip. I will remind it to myself next time. I do journaling often, I think it works so well too! By the way, I love Hawaii 😍

I am the same way. Maybe we have similar personality where we are laid back and probably happy with any decisions :) however, like you said, I am also learning to make decisions for myself and it has helped me immensely to stand up for myself, my values and hand picking the things I want in life. I am so happy you liked the video. Much aloha from Maui.

Wow!! Well done!! There’s a lot of good advice here! You’re right, multitasking does not work. I try to prioritize my tasks. Sometimes I work on the tough ones first, while my energy level is high. For variety next time, I will get the simple ones done, so I can focus on the big one. Sometimes I will say to myself, “by 10 AM, I want to start working on the big project”, and isolate myself to avoid distractions. Either way, there’s satisfaction in getting the tasks done! My handwriting is terrible, so I’m not very good at journaling🤣😂. Instead, I type emails to myself to help with it the next time. Dictating into the “notes” section on my iPhone also works well. I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for allowing me to throw in my two cents!

You always give me so many great ideas Mark! I love that you switch things up by rotating the tough and simple tasks. I think that's great advice and I will try this next time. Also, I think it's special that you email yourself :) it's like writing to your future self. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, as always! Have a great weekend.

I keep notes on my phone too, but love writing on a physical journal. it is such a good habit and that's so good to hear that it has really helped you. ❤️

Hi Sophie! Was just curious where did you move to Hawaii from? Could you make more videos on the process of moving to Hawaii from elsewhere?

Hey Stephanie! Thanks for watching my videos. I moved from Oahu, but before that I moved from San Diego. I don't think I'll make a video on moving to Hawaii, but if you have a specific question I'm happy to answer in an email or you can msg on IG 😁👍

Love this channel....I'm a newbie. Can you provide us with a list of your favorite books. I noticed that music really helps calm my mind. Also, before covid I was cycling 4 days a week and it helped me to be in the moment

Unfortunately we are part of the noise so it’s kinda impossible to remove it from our headspace. There will be always some jarring sound within us and we just need to reduce the volume of it. That’s all we can do about it. Our minds will never be decluttered completely cos our journey on this planet is about progressing and evolving. Perfection is beyond our capabilities therefore we are unable to liberate our minds from chaos. We are part of it as well. Through imperfection we learn more about ourselves. Being perfect, in my opinion, means there is nothing to learn.
