My mother is a malignant narcissist. She abused me in the worst way as a child and on into adulthood. I got sober in 2008. So the last 16 years has been a journey of recovery. I cut her off about 7 years ago. I have no relationship with any of my family. Only my daughter. I have repeatedly chosen men, friends, relationship's that treat me the ways my mother did. It's so frustrating. I've done so much work, but it's never enough. Podcast like this helped me so much.

Being humble is huge. Embrace enough humility to do the small thing, instead of being too proud to do it. Watch your feelings and inner dialogue in these moments, this is exceptional common. Generally when we see this pride we instead call it impatience, and then we pat ourselves on the back for not being willing to wait for change. But really it’s pride/ ego clinging to an identity you haven’t earned.

Great video. I was surprised that I've been doing a few of the good suggestions while also doing many of the bad ones. I did though, go out and get a haircut, cutting off the ponytail I had wore for years, at the start of my plan of self improvement. When I heard them say that as a good thing, I laughed. I will definitely rewatch this again to help motivate me. Thanks

What you attract depends on what you're projecting. If you're saying everyday, "I want to lose weight," you're projecting *want*. What you're going to attract is, "I want to lose weight." If your vibration is want, you attract want. If your vibration is lack, you'll attract situations to reinforce the feeling of lack. If you vibrate (project/feel) gratitude, abundance, and happiness, you'll attract more reasons to feel that way. Another huge part of the equation is not white-knuckling the outcome. Let go of your expectations as to how something is "supposed to be." 🖖🏽

People don't understand that discipline is ambition. Ambition to make money, succeed financially, requires discipline, but ambition is what pushes you. It always comes to priority. If someone has a steady job and they are content character, they really don't want to achieve anything more, it's their character, so then what is priority? Priority is working out then that becomes an ambition towards a goal. Then that becomes something they are working for. If it's a priority for self growth then that becomes an ambition to grow, nobody has to talk about discipline anymore when ambition is there.
@udunknow2172Ай бұрын
So how do you explain very successful, ambitious people... who are ALSO addicted to drugs, spending, women etc?
@thinkersonly1Ай бұрын

@mrawesome7739Ай бұрын
@@udunknow2172 it is possible to be successful without discipline since some people get there by repeatedly barely squeezing by
@CJLabay125 күн бұрын
Eh. Ambition is fleeting; there one moment and gone with the next distraction of momentary comfort. Discipline is believing that there was a reason you were ambitious in the first place and doing what you don't want to do in hopes you'll be thankful that you did when Ambition returns.
@thinkersonly125 күн бұрын
@CJLabay1 well then you don't understand ambition. You haven't found something to be ambitious about. Ambitious people do not have a temporary ambition to fleet. Either you want to achieve your goal either you don't. You will never meet a successful person who said their ambition fleets in a moment. What you are describing is a motivation. Motivation and ambition are completely different things. Motivation is temporary. People who constantly needs motivation from outside source are not ambitious people they are wishful thinkers. Fantasy, don't know what they want in life.

What i miss in this story is that self discipline also arises from love for others: love your neighbor as yourself and God above all. Maybe you like smoking very much but you leave it because it is bad for your children and partner and God wants you not to defile your body.
@alfaisaac02411 күн бұрын
No that leads to a kind of codependence. And reliance on authority and others alone to drive your goals and life. Not good. Don't defile your body because you love value and securely relate with yourself (Unconscious mind and nervous system) in such a way that you don't want to defile yourself by healing past trauma etc. From this position, love for others and healthier behaviors can overflow authentically unbegrudgingly, and abundantly. Because you can love and help others from a perspective of already understanding how that's done within yourself. It's a more sustainable empathy, than merely being other/outwardly focused
