Thank you for the complete description on how to add beads. You made it very clear and easy. I will now try to make a rope with beads.

Plucked up the courage today to start using my prumihimo disk, and also decided tostart using beads for the first time. So just watched this vid a few times and posted a pic of what I’ve done so far on the Facebook page! See what you think!

LOVE your tutorials! very clear and helpful. One question and if this has been covered on another video, I apologize. You have arrows on your disk that show turning the disk counterclockwise (I'm in the U.S. so that's the terminology I'm familiar with). In this video you appear to be turning the disk clockwise. Does it matter?
@anitacampbell81074 жыл бұрын
Never mind - I figured out the arrows indicate where to go next (go from 1 to 2) not the direction to turn the disk. I've been doing beaded Kumihimo for several years and have noticed that some patterns ask the disk be turned a certain way to achieve a pattern. Sorry for being dim :(

Pru, is the bracelet you show for having beads on 3 sides using crescent beads? If so, are there instructions for how to do this? I'm just getting started using your disk and am excited about it's potential.
@Prumihimo4 жыл бұрын
This video shows how to use beads in different ways, but it is not a tutorial for a particular design. I so not have a video for the crescent beads yet, but there are quite a few different project videos for the Prumihimo disk on my channel.

Hi Pru......I've made a bunch of bracelets in the past month, but as I look at them, I don't remember the set-up for each, or which video I followed on you tube. Is there a kumihimo "encyclopedia" showing a photo of a bracelet and a photo of the set-up? Sequence of the moves essential, also. Thanks!

I am not aware of anything like that, but I suggest checking out this website. You can use it to work out the initial cord set up for round braid cord only braids. craftdesignonline.com/kumihimo/kongoh-gumi-friendship-bracelets/?cdokb_s=

Pru could I ask some advice? I want to incorporate ribbon so that it loops through a design, not raided. not sure how?!
@Prumihimo4 жыл бұрын
It is hard to explain how, so perhaps I should do a video for this technique! Try using the regular round disk and holding the ribbon so it lies across the disk. Braid for 8 individual cord moves and this will trap the ribbon in the braid. Then fold the ribbon back over the braid and do another 8 individual cord moves. The ribbon will form a loop on one side of the braid. You can adjust the number of moves to make bigger loops.

@@Prumihimo Hi Pru I've been off line for a while, just found your answer, So did you make a tutorial on this ?
@susanmcanally89366 жыл бұрын
Pru, I have practiced on the disk now for several times., and watched several of your videos on untuned ,which are wonderful by the way. My problem is I having been wanting to do your project 4, paisley pendant and I just can’t understand on which cords to put on which cords. I have done Kumihimo for many Years now with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 cords and each pattern tells you specifically ht amount and what kind of beads go on each cord, but it is not that way in your book or I just don’t understand it. I understand that there is top and bottom cords. Is #3 to the right of #1 the top or the bottom #3. Do you start adding the seed beads color A on there and then go down to #4 at the bottom and add you duos and pip beads. I understand your groups of 1, 2, 3, that is your first, second and 3rd rounds of adding beads. But does not tell me where each different bead goes onto which cords. Am I the only one having so much trouble with this. I understand why you don’t do a video on it because then you would be giving your pattern away for free. I have bought your book twice,I thought I lost the first one so I reordered so now I have two, so I am not trying to get a free patter, just trying in my Kumihimo mind figuring out your sequence of the disk whe it comes to loading different beads. I am so looking forward to doing this pattern I am just frustrated. Think of the Kumihimo disk and help me to get the beads on the right cords I am just so confused with which is top and which is bottom. PLEASE be patient with me and help me string this correct. Thank you so much... Sue MCAnally My email is: Skal97@att.net

This is one of the more complex designs in the book because a large number of beads need to be threaded, but they only need to be threaded onto 2 cords, so once you know what you are doing you will find it straight forward. The instructions are on page 44. The chart at the top is for the cords and the chart at the bottom is for the beads. I am going to send you an email so that I can help you in more detail and get you on the right track.

Would you be able to tell me why my bracelets sometimes have spaces where the thread shows? Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, and I can't figure out why? Irregular beads or bad tension maybe?
@Prumihimo6 жыл бұрын
Both irregular beads and uneven tension could be the reason. The most likely culprit is a disk with stretched slots as a result of being used for
@Prumihimo6 жыл бұрын
Is this problem happening with this Prumihimo disk or with the regular round disk? Thread showing and irregularity is more usually a problem with the 32 slot round disk and is usually caused by using a disk with slots which have been stretched by thicker cords. A new disk will make a huge difference.

I'm trying to do a beaded bracelet but the beads seem to have a gap and don't sit close. I'm using size 8 seed beads. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it more compact and less gappy??
@Prumihimo5 жыл бұрын
Louise Jackson - Beaded braids made on the Prumihimo disk will show some braid between the beads and that is the special feature of the braid structure. If you want a braid with the beads sitting closely together and no braid visible you are better off using the regular round disk.
