For those complaining about power consumption/sound quality this is meant as a drop in device that does not require any modification to the csasette player. Also, the distortions are caused by overdriving the head inside the cassette by turning the BT volume up too high. It's better to set the BT at a volume that gives acceptable quality, and then use the volume control on the cassette player as if you were playing a normal cassette.

Quite innovative alright, but, instead of passing through cassette head, the blue tooth receiver could be directly connected to the audio amplifier section of the same cassette player. This ensures better fidelity as the frequency response of the heads which are inductive (and are limited by the air gap in the head) limits the bandwidth. Also the motor and the mechanism are running consuming considerable power. Again, the battery inside the modified cassette is too small, requires frequent charging. Instead if it is directly connected to the amplifier, the power can be directly trapped from the amplifier. This makes it more simple, more efficient, and gives better sound.

You can use this in a walkman!! Putting a Bluetooth adapter is nothing new. I can get one installed for 5$ including labor costs here in India. The cassette Bluetooth is so innovative.

Not the point. The purpose is to make it instantly functional with any cassette player. The destortion is from over driving the head in the cassette he made. If he adds a 1k ohm resistor up to maby 10 k ohm or maby a trim pot between black leed on head and board to attenuate the output of the Bluetooth that would fix it. Or also maby a 8 mfd capacitor th shunt some of the bass which seams to be part of the problem.

Awesome. I suggest a power plug from the player instead of the battery nonsense unless it's a mobile cassette you bring to places and use other players. It shouldn't be a problem to take 3-5 volts from somewhere inside the cassette player. A similar cassette (adapter) was once sold where we could connect a CD player like that. It was a great gift for one of my friends long ago.

Здесь просто ужас сколько недочётов, начиная от чрезмерной мощности подаваемой с блютуз модуля на магнитную головку, так же позиционирование между двумя головками( азимуты), умные протяжки понимающие скорость вращения тон вала и барабанов(зажевало или порвало ленту), не просто так он одел резинку на барабаны но этого не достаточно, малая ёмкость аккумулятора..... Короче есть готовые решения на али не только блютуз но и линейный вход, стоят ваабще не дорого

This is a cool idea. Why is there so much distortion? Does the Bluetooth receiver not have enough output power to transfer to the cassette player with enough volume? Or is it just turned up too high. People complain you can just make a direct connection. They don't understand that your way is completely wireless and it can be used with any phone and cassette player. Also there is no wire hanging from the phone. How long does the battery last?

Actually the sound is distorted because the head in the cassette is overdriven .it needs a resistor to attenuate the output of the bt reciever so the transmiting head is not oversaturated an appropriate pare of trim pots or a couple of resistors one in series with each channel output or the trim pots with center tap to ground and other end to output to shunt some of the output. This would solve the problem. I actually like using the trim pots as this would alow you to adjust the output precisely and also controle balance. There are better ways to do this with coils and capacitors to get a perfect impedance match. But really that would be a bit of over engineering 🤔

Yes, but you could just plugged that bluetooth dongle into the line input of the tape recorder, press “record” button on the cassette recorder and job done, no soldering needed, and audio quality will be much better. The one in this video isn’t even stereo player - has only one speaker!

It shoul also still work, if the player is in pause mode (so you don't have to worry about the turning wheels). At least here, all the (mechanical) players I tested still pick up audio when paused. :)

Better use constant volume and regulate volume in player itself. Will help to avoid unnecessary noise and sound glitches. As upgrade make stereo playback with stereo head. And add external power through flat cable which will easy go through deck door.

The cassette head, by its nature, converts electromagnetic pulses into an audio signal (in play mode) and It converts the audio signal into electromagnetic pulses (in recording mode). The head used in the device converted the audio signal sent from the Bluetooth circuit into electromagnetic pulses.. The cassette head converted it into an audio signal

1:20 isn't that a Bluetooth transmitter... Not a receiver? It's receiving audio through the cassette head, but then transmitting the audio through the Bluetooth. I would think you would call that a Bluetooth transmitter, right? It was labeled as a receiver in the first video too.

@@Inventor_AW You may wanna invent a force forward gearbox then, because if you put the tape onto an Auto-reverse deck and it was set to reverse (side B) playback previously you may end up reversing polarities on the generator output. Poof goes your cirquit. Just keep that in mind, especially in Car stereos as most of them are auto reverse.

If you watch the entire video you will see the cassette head used in the "Frankenstein" cassette is a donor head from a different [unspecified] source. When he plays the cassette in the Sony player, at 5:01 it has its own head intact still in order to read the audio from the tape. The Sony player does not appear to have been desecrated ;) As for me, I make regular use of vintage multi-track reel-to-reel equipment in my home studio and similarly share your concern for old technology :)

@@Nathriel hmmm. yeah, I agree he did not remove the original head, but head-head meshing is not it is originally designed for, and will damaged both heads. A head should read tapes!. Anyway, it is one's choice and freedom to do whatever he wants with his things. Glad that you too have this concern and treasure old technology!. What I do, if I want to use these equipment with newer technology (example connecting an old music player or amplifier), I use its AUX/Line-In and try best to connect new equipment that will not harm the old one. I connect DACs to play high quality sound to tube or other vintage amps and enjoy the best of both times, at least to some extent and my satisfaction/choice!

The music sounds oversaturated, which leads me to suspect that the problem is not with the bluetooth module or its quality. I would first try lowering the transmit level of the audio source (your phone), which should in turn decrease the sending voltage of the wires leading to the tape head. If that gets you lower levels of distortion, then the tape head just needs to be given the proper levels and you've found the issue. That said, a cheap bluetooth module COULD contribute to low music fidelity like you said, but shouldn't be the root cause. Next, check the tape head azimuth within the cassette shell and that it has full contact with the tape head in the Sony player. Lastly, you can try adding a variable resistor in-line from the bluetooth module to the tape head to vary the voltage feed levels leading to the tape head. Fitting it in the shell might be tricky, however this would allow you to adjust levels to where (for ease of use) you can set your phone volume to maximum and just tweak the resistor until you get the loudest volume without compromising fidelity. After doing some more research, here are my notes for you: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ www.edaboard.com/threads/magnetic-audio-head-tape.273834/ This is not exactly what your application is, but seemed to be related to issues you are running into. I recommend to pay attention to what was said by one of the moderators. The difference is that you are feeding line voltage via a bluetooth module into a tape head to be read by another tape head, whereas here they are attempting to wire in a line signal in place of a cassette head. [ 3. The audio on a tape has pre-emphasis - the frequency distribution is deliberately skewed. To overcome this, the amplifier applies the opposite skew. If you feed a different audio source into the head wires, the signal will be un-skewed when it doesn't need to be and the tone will sound wrong. ] The bluetooth module probably does not account for this! Nice idea but you will need a complex gearbox for that. Imagine you put this thing into an auto reverse deck in reverse playback mode a raw dynamo would reverse charging polarities and the cirquit is dead. I know that on some logic control decks you can never be sure which side it will attempt to play first. Something to keep in mind.

It doesn't work quite well. I make the same thing a few years ago, same bt receiver i crank up at max the car stereo and nothing come out or it was super quiet. The problem is that type of receiver. Those are line level output for any aux input works well (low impedance), but is not too powerfull for the high impedance of the magnetic head. The solution is not this receiver but those chinese neckband sport bt headphones, that includes a amplifier, and a larger battery.

Gute Idee für Sammler von alten Geräten, die auf diesem Weg auch die Funktionstüchtigkeit nachweisen können ohne altes Bandmaterial vorhalten zu müssen, zumal an diesem auch der Zahn der Zeit nagt. Sonst dürfte der Kreis von Hobbybastlern überschaubar sein, die eine solche Kopplung von Verstärkern an ihre mp3-Quellen für sinnvoll erachten und dafür Zeit und Geld investieren.

А не проще было блютус - модуль сразу подключить к звуковому тракту магнитолы ?! Wasn't it easier to connect the bluetooth module to the sound path of the radio tape recorder right away ?!

Good idea but what is the logic?? You could connect the Bluetooth connector direct , but you broke it , spent more time, cost and effort to make this device
