Thanks again Lauren. I've actually taken the day off to finish my Ava skirt and I was planning on putting in a lining. This was perfect timing. I bought your SS video and it was a great help.

Hi, I dont know if you will see this but just wanted to double check. The zip needs to go into the main skirt before sewing in the lining? And also I pined with the seam allowance open (the edges aren't overlocked).. is it best to bend to the side the way you have? PS You were my favourite on the sewing Bee. So happy to find this channel and that you have a shop

Thats exactly what I was looking for, what about if I want to line a pinafore like the Cleo pinafore?
@LaurenGuthrieGhani2 жыл бұрын
Hello, you could either use the main pieces to make a lining and then attach the lining in the same way that you attach the facing, or a bit more complicated, you can draft your own lining pieces to attach onto the bottom of the facing :)

Hi, Lauren. Thanks for this video! It's so helpful. I have a skirt with facings (no waistband), and I'm struggling to understand the sequence of steps and where I attach the lining to the facings. Do you have suggestions?
@LaurenGuthrieGhani2 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa, I would attach the lining to the facings and then attach the facings (with lining attached to them) to the main skirt. If you are drafting your own lining you will need to take account of the facings and make the lining shorter than the main skirt. I hope that helps :)

Hi Lauren. How would you suggest adding a lining to an already finished skirt? Thank you.
@LaurenGuthrieGhani3 жыл бұрын
Hello, you would need to unpick the inside edge of the waist band so you could get access to the seam allowance that is created when the main skirt is attached to the outer part of the waist band. Then you can sew the lining to the seam allowance and re stitch the inner waist band down to enclose all the raw edges. Alternatively you could make your own little slip skirt made out of lining to wear underneath instead of lining it.

Hi Lauren, how do you add a lining to a skirt that has an elastic waistband please
@LaurenGuthrieGhani2 жыл бұрын
I would make the lining and skirt seperatly (as in side seams and hems) and then before attaching it to the waist band, baste the outer and lining together around the top edge with wrong sides facing - then attach it onto the elastic. I have another video for doing that, not with the lining but once you have the layers basted together you can follow the steps in the other video if you haven't done it before :)

Those silver fabrics are absolutely beautiful, need to visit your shop :-) do you deliver internationally by any chance?

Hello, we do yes but it depends on the country as at the moment we are not able to ship to the EU
