Thanks for these tips! I'm a novice leather worker, and I've been procrastinating on finishing a leather backpack for the better part of a year because I wasn't sure how to attach the liner. I think you and other bag makers have solved my problem. And made it clear that if I want to make things bigger than wallets to sell, I need to invest in a sewing machine...

Thanks for this great tutorial. I'm brand new to leather, like I just bought some and will be making my first leather piece as a clutch purse...and I'll be sewing it all by hand! 😱 I was wondering how I could include a zipper and lining and your video has given me the confidence to attempt it. 💜
@NikkiandMallory Жыл бұрын
Stitching a clutch by hand and adding a zipper - I'm here for that. But I have never stitched a piece by hand and added lining. I prefer hand stitched leather goods to be unlined. I've seen people use adhesive lining. Comes out pretty clean and neat. That's my only recommendation.
@BS-detector Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Adhesive lining sounds much easier. I want to make a pocket for the inside...I suppose I could just put a thinner, extra piece of leather right down the middle of the inside edges to edges and sew them all together. It'll be fun experimenting with different ways while I'm learning. Do you have any videos like that? 🦋 @@NikkiandMallory

Love your bag and your instructions are nice and clear. I have watched this many times and I am finally going to give this a try! I am wondering if you have another option for attaching a shoulder strap? Using the side tabs with D ring just isn't a natural way for the bag to hang. I have made bags this way and it seems to pull on that tab. I would like to figure out a way to make the tab face upright vs sideways.

Super late to discovering your video :) I’m wondering if you have suggestions for shaping a lining when the bag is not a simple, flatter shape like this? I want to sew a lining for a woven tote, with an oval bottom and somewhat rigid sides, no real corners except along the base/bottom connection. And I’d keep the liner attached using sewn ties.
@NikkiandMallory2 жыл бұрын
I wish I could give you a straight answer but I'm extremely visual. I'm better at showing vs. trying to talk/text you through it. My best advice, your lining should mimic the shape of the bag. The same way you designed the actual bag, should be the way you design your lining. You might have to tweak the dimensions but that should do it.
