How to add RCA Pre out adaptor to a factory car radio guide

Simple step by step guide showing how to add a little RCA adaptor to you cars factory fitted radio.

Thanks for the vid, do you have to use both the speaker channels or can you use one? I have a BMW and it has an under seat sub but it’s naff, could I just use that on one channel to give the signal to the amp?

Just bought the adaptor, what order should it be attached. For example if I use the front right out; should it go front out, + terminal, - terminal back to cut wire? I guess I'm asking which way round the positive and negative wires should be. Also are scotch connectors going to be ok to use?

Hi, more technical question. Will the Sub not put much pressure on those channels, using that line out converter ? Re-thinking this now and I am unsure if to continue.

No none at all, the amp just needs a signal.

Can you do the same set up to add an video out to a radio with a cd/dvd player but that doesn't have a video output - I'm trying to figure out how to stream the DVD on the radio to a tablet or projector so that I don't have to sit in the front seat of the car and watch the dvd on a 6" screen on the dash ... it has bluetooth too so I don't know if it can be screencast or ...

Not sure if i can see properly but it looked like you attached the positive solid grey wire from the adapter to the brown and white wire which is negative? Was this intentional??

Yes this will work fine on your Corsa but you will also need a remote power cable from a ignition switched live at the fuse box or I have seen some people take a switched live from the 12v socket in the center console.

Yes the same method will work with pre amped subs. You may need to patch in a remote switch on from the cars fusebox using a switched live supply (such as heater blower)

Wait so I could do this with my rear speakers instead of behind the radio? I just got a 2012 accord and the radio is a pain to get out but I can get to the rear speakers from the trunk. Think I would be able to connect the rca converter to the speakers and then plug in my amp from there? I’m fully ready to get in behind the radio, but that would be way easier lol. Also does the music come out of your sub doing it this way? Or just bass?

Yes that would work fine, the music will play as well as the bass so you will need an amp with a low pass filter on it for sub only.

Hi, great video. I have an audi a5 2010, where do i find the switch wire in the car to attach the remote from the sub?

Most original Audi radios have a pin diagram on them showing which one you would need. A lot of the A5 models around your year use a white and grey wire for the remote but this does depend on spec and region the car is sold. If you can't find a pin diagram stuck to the radio ask your local main dealer to check the parts database. They will need either your reg or bin number.

On my converter I have 4 speaker wires and then a 5th and I don't now heat its for lol any ideas mate thanks for the vid 👍🏻

If it's a black wire then it's for earth. Connect it to the black radio from the radio or chassis earth.

Can you not just splice the wires rather then chopping them and then heat shrink them
