I think the reason they had two lights on two switched on the opposite side of the room is because there is two entrances to the kitchen. Now they have to go to the other side of the kitchen to turn on the lights if they are coming from what looks to be the hallways for bedrooms maybe.

+cgriesemer It's pretty simple. The switch for the counter lighting was simply re-routed to go above the cabinet as they showed. The wire that originally ran from switch to the 1st ceiling light was capped or removed. After the job was done, the switch in the kitchen controls power to the small boxes above and below the cabinets.

I hope they removed the upper cabinets because they are taking up tons of space also blocking a lot of light and dealing with can lights by them radiating heat you are supposed to add blocking between the joist and create a box for the can and move the insulation out the way so the recess can heat dont heat the insulation and cause a fire..

I wouldn't call it crappy given the type of residence this is- tract home or cookie cutter condo. I don't mean it as disrespect but it's certainly not a custom or luxury home and whereas a person living in a $5 million house wouldn't care much if you spent $1000 on top of the line LED fixtures from a designer store, another couple of thousand and brought in a design team, etc, a customer like her likely would want something affordable from Home Depot that gets the job done even if it's not glamorous.

really - this is NOT the way to do things! I think the very WORST gaffe was when the handyman cut right THROUGH the structural beam of the cabinet to hide the lighting cable - when it really ought to have been done with a drill (no more than 1/4" bit) through the CENTRE of it. that way very little of the carrying capacity of the structural element would be compromised....
@some0ne88 жыл бұрын
Seriously? The dado holding the bottom panel is structure. The rest below it doesn't do anything. Maybe hold the faceframe but that's about it. So unless you hit the faceframe with a hammer a few times, there's no problem.
