Very clever and clear explanation! New sub! Found you whilst searching for DIY velum which is pretty cool too! Thank you for sharing💕
@lindataylor8635 жыл бұрын
If you're using vellum a lot, this can be less cost effective, but I cover the entire bank of the vellum with clear double sided adhesive and attach it to my background paper or card base. Since the entire surface is backed by the same clear adhesive, it's not noticeable. I prefer not to have parts of my vellum lose. Hope this can be helpful to those like me who don't mind using more double-sided tape!
@Papercraftwithme5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this option Linda. I have tried that in the past, but personally felt that even though there wasn't any obvious adhesive showing, the appearance of the vellum was affected. Like all areas of crafting the appropriate solution depends on what you're ultimately trying to achieve in your project.

Thanks for sharing. I have used Vellum before and what I have done is put tiny glue dots behind some of the snow flakes. I make my own glue dots, so I make extra small ones and place them here and there on the vellum,and add a ribbon near the top and everything stays on the card stock
@imelectrk25 жыл бұрын
Pat Bisson how do you make your own glue dots?
@patbisson75565 жыл бұрын
LISA HAWVER, hi Lisa, I bought Aleene's TACK -IT OVER AND OVER glue. I put little dots in rows and I put them on parchment paper. I just tear off a sheet and fill half the paper, let them dry, then when they’re all dry ,cover them over with the other half of parchment paper. I make tiny ones, some a little bigger and so on, and I also make some that are long, but not too long in case I need some for something specific. That’s it, they last a long time,just remember to keep them covered with the parchment paper. I find it cheaper to make my own instead of buying dots. This glue lasts quite a long time too. Don’t use wax paper,it doesn’t work on that.

Thank you Amy for pointing out that you can buy adhesives specifically made for use on vellum. My quick tip was designed to show one way to attach vellum to card invisibly regardless of what type of adhesives you have available.

I have loads of vellum, different thicknesses and colors...LOVE the stuff! Many years ago, when the first "invisible" vellum tape came out, I bought some, which cost me quite a bit if memory serves! I recently began card-making again and saw that the glue had yellowed in some of my cards. Hopefully, the vellum glue out now is better! I don't know what the shelf life is for the glue; I have learned that most of these different glues don't hold up over time, especially tape runners! Thanks for your tip, which I tried years ago; it works too!@@Papercraftwithme

Sometimes it's the simplest and seemingly obvious answers that are the hardest to come by. Personally, I think, it's because we're to close to a thing to really see it when that happens. Also, the floating edge really gives it a nice professional touch, I think. I like it. I doesn't solve my problem, really, but perhaps mine can be done another way... I might try to sneak a stitch or two into the papers or something. Provided I can find my ultra fine needle but it's never readily available when I want it..lol

I don’t like the loose edges and corners which can catch on things and bend, getting that dreaded vellum crease. I much prefer solid adhesion. Simply run your vellum through a Xyron adhesive machine. They make “stickers” out of everything and best yet......don’t show through vellum.
