thanks for the video, was wondering if the flange would normally spin when the engine is idling? Would just having oil between the plates be enough to cause it to spin? Love your videos please keep em coming.

Yea… these transmissions tend to rotate in either fed or reverse as there is no Detent for neutral.

Hello, my transmission seems tight. It’s a 1963 Chris Craft with 283 and Paragon. The boat sat for a few years and now the engine will barely turn with a breaker bar and wont crank with new starter and battery. I took trans off and engine is free. Put it back on and it’s too tight. Prop is disconnected. How could the trans do this just by sitting? Thanks

The lowest point in the engine and transmission package when mounted is the tail shaft bearing. IF there was water in the oil when stored you may have a rusty bearing. That’s where I’d start looking.

I am having issue with my transmission not going into gear until after running for about 5 minutes. It will engage but not fully lock into gear so I am able to move forward slowly. It then slips in gear and then if I run over about 1700 RPM it slips out of gear and reaves up really high. Any suggestions? I have a Hercules 6 cy. ML

@@pwcundiff I live in Jacksonville, Florida. I will try adjusting once more. If this doesn't work, I will get back to you. This would be a good time for you to come to Florida as the temperatures are gorgous here and a little chilly up North..
