How to adjust an American Standard dual flush valve

I think that some models are different - my mechanism looks identical but on the low flush adjustment the little blue tab is spring loaded and you push it in to allow adjustment. If you force it out as shown on this video you will break it.

Thanks for breaking this down, I have had this toilet since I moved into my condo 7 years ago and over the past year it’s presented me with issues with it not properly flushing. It was embarrassing and annoying trying to figure out why my toilet wouldn’t flush properly. Increased the flow of water to 4 and boom seems to be working fine.

how are you suppose to tell what number its suppose to be placed? thats the part i dont understand. how do you determine which number its suppose to be at?

So when you took the park off the color flush was on the left and when you put it back you put it in your right. Did you put it wrong

But you never say which is the higher or lower flush setting? Is number 1 minimum or maximum?

Higher numbers usually correspond to a larger volume of water, suitable for a full flush. Lower numbers generally correspond to a smaller volume of water, intended for a partial flush. I changed it but did not notice much of a difference, but you probably have to play with it.

what do the values mean for both settings? A low number is less water flushed and a higher number would be more water? Do the numbers equate to litres? Same as a previous question, where did you get the settings for your cistern?

Good video, thanks, btw...what's that third assembly to the right of the blue and white flush tower? In my unit the black hose from the fill valve runs across to a connection to that third assembly. @2:18 your index finger is pointing at that third assembly. I called American Standard and they say their manual ONLY shows the fill valve on the left, and the flush tower with the blue and white buttons but nothing else.

@@FernandoC So, from where you're standing, going left to right, there's the fluidmaster Toilet fill valve on the left, then in the middle is where the flush tower is placed, then to the right of the flush tower, really close beside the flush tower, is a smallish unit. @1:25 with flush tower removed that smallish unit is visible in the center of the picture, (white, plastic). Can't seem to get a name for that. Thanks.

The toilet seat cover was down when you flush the toilet. We didn't get to see how it flushes after you did the adjustment.

How do you control how much water is in the bottom of the stool not the tank?

You installed the flush valve incorrectly after your adjustment. The green button should be on the left.

hmm, not really sure. Sometimes when the water runs it can be loud, but that's my only guess. check how the water is coming out.

Check the seal on the bottom, may need to be replaced or cleaned.

It’s probably your fill valve, replace that if it’s only doing it after you flush and while it’s filling

I’m actually a licensed plumber, obviously I can’t see what it happening but if it’s something like a whistle then it is most likely a fill valve issue. It could also be an indicator for PRV or pressure issue, but that’s highly unlikely

Also a plumber. It can also be your toilet shut off valve. There’s usually a small rubber gasket that seats when you close it, and that gasket often erodes until it breaks apart and travels into your fill valve. So if it’s easy enough to shut off the water main, it’s a good idea to take a look at that as well as replace the fill valve.

At that point you could have claimed it was rhetoric, instead you informed me that you had for some reason written the wrong thing and intended to ask a different question. Maybe English is not your first language, since when I ask a question in my first language, I don't get an answer and then change my mind later.
