Thanks! I had the oyster strap but with screws, and was able to adjust it with your help. For my fellow Americans, a 1/16 screwdriver can work instead of a 2.5 mm. The tip barely fit, but I was able to get the screw out without any scratches.

Wish the shark strap had fine adjustment. It is either too tight or too loose for my wrist.

Thank you! A thin flat-head screw driver worked a treat adjusting my 'classic mesh' watch strap.

Thanks for the video! adjusted my watch. only, i've used the tools at hand; a nail, hammer and some clamps. worked fine, a few scratches, but i don't care, i bought a cheap 7,50 euro quartz wrist watch just to see time, so it's fine. Good luck to everyone trying this!

Thanks for the help! I have an oyster strap and though I didn’t have a pin pusher, I just used a small pin and a hammer to push it through! Lol

For the oyster strap : What if my watch is loose with a pin, but tight without the same pin .. is there some "golden middle life hack" :D

My watch didnt have any pins except the buckle, so I simply used pliers and little force to shorten the strap. Video not for me but gave me an idea and that's what matters

OMG! I bought a watch yesterday and the salesguy had to shorten the Oyster metal strap. He didnt use the screws at all, he forcibly pulled the long pin out, removed the pieces AND hammered the pin back into it till the little metal folds on the piece curved. GOSH! I knew it would not be the right way to do it, a passing intuition that the guy wouldnt know how to do it from the looks of him BUT I allowed him to hammer my brand new watch coz I trusted he would know. NEVER TRUST a salesman and buy a watch ONLY from a watch store. Pathetic!! Thanks a ton for this video!

Using Binlun brand metal link-based bands, mostly 18mm width. Such links are assembled using tiny cotter pins. Am finding out the hard way, specified sizing is crucial in pin length, band width, band length, as well as the choice of curved or straight end pieces (used for mating the watch "ears" and the band). Accumulating more and more watch-specific tools, replacement link pins, spring pins, etc. It's a learning curve for an old guy that just wanted some inexpensive gold-plated watches to wear. Going to have several dozen gold watches in a display case, willing to learn whatever I have to to accomplish this.

I had the heavy mesh with pins. After watching this and other youtube vids, I pushed it out and broke the link. The strap costed $200 so I was worried. I took it to Maycs watch repair and they took the broken link out and managed to fix it for just $12.50. TIP TO OTHERS: If the videos don't' have clear directions for your particular strap, you might end up breaking it. The straps are so different from one to the other. I was lucky I took it to a professional and I stopped what I was doing.

Spring bar tools can be substituted for just about anything long, thin, and not easily flexed/broken. Pin pushers are not a necessity if you have something about the same size as the pin and a thimble.

So I was attempting to adjust the buckle thing and I managed to get the springy pin out but if I try to get it to stick back into the buckle it won't extend to fill the holes in its sides. I fear i mich have squished the spring too hard to get it out and now it won't fully extend anymore. Is there anything I can do short of handing the watch over to a watchmakers'?

What if I managed to flip the buckle up on the classic strap but once I try to close it to the adjusted length it won't close??? I tried to push it back by force but it seems like the inner joints got stuck or something... What do I do? :(

I have a Olevs watch, getting the pins out was easy, but putting the pin back in, it won’t even go in, it’s like the hole has closed up, guess I’ll have to go to a jeweler, because I’m stupid.

No. My metal watchband doesn't use _any_ of those methods. Its pin ends are not exposed and cannot be pushed or hammered. Instead, the links with arrows have two little recessed pushbutton-like things pointing inward toward the wrist. I have no idea on how to use them, and your video is not helpful for that.
