How to adjust the DR Trimmer premier belt when not cutting or spinning head. Please read the manual and do adjustments with the Dr Trimmer premier off.
I have a new DR Trimmer premier and the unit stopped working while cutting grass. Here is a quick guide on how to get the head spinning before we go replacing belts. The DR Trimmer has an adjuster that requires a few counter clockwise turns. I did the adjustment while the unit was on for demonstration of sounds and visuals of strings. Please read the manual and adjust with the unit off.

I love this mower. I wish either the belt was slightly smaller or the cable was. After a few mows the belt does indeed stretch. My belt was so loose it would fall off the pulley if the engage handle wasn't held down slightly even after adjusting the cable. I posted a video on how i fixed it, no problems at all now. My buddy has one of these and buys new belts every 2 or 3 months. I have a CubCadet and never gave me issues. The DR mechanism probably needs to be changed to a better design. Anyways thanks for watching and posting.

I ended getting rid of this machine and kept my Cub Cadet. The Dr Trimmer has a bit better features but I kept having issues with the belt.

Are you supposed to have that many lines in the head? Here is the warning in the manual: Do not install more than two strings. It does not improve the cutting ability of the trimmer. It will, however, cause the motor to lag because it is not designed to handle additional strings.

I dont have the manual to look up part number but you can go to the drpower website and search under trimmers. They have several models depending on year and if propelled which you may find helpful. My buddy ordered the belts last week and believe he called in. I would call in to verify because I'm not sure what it is called.

I’ve been unhappy with my DR string mower/trimmer since I bought it. The wheels are awkward over bumpy services - would rather have rubber tires. The self-propel feature doesn’t assist at all. When I put the engine on fast speed it burns oil/blows smoke. Etc etc. A super-duper hand held trimmer would have been a better buy.

@@cutweldngrind i found out why my machine was running like shit and very rich, theres a 2 inch peice of very cheap vinyl tubing that goes in between the air filter and the engine as a vacuum line, in just one season it got old and shrank about a half inch causing an extreme vacuum leak. replaced it with some transmission cooler line now im good to go, running perfect no black smoke or bogging

Heads Up - from the top of the handle where you were standing - you turned the adjuster clockwise - to the right -- not counter which would have been to the left - when you turned it counter clockwise in the beginning - the strings got looser / slower - without the sound you were trying for - babababa

with less than two hours it stopped spinning. Tried the adjustment, didn't work. Surprised a piece of equipment would stop working properly with less than two hours of use. Really disappointed

I went with a CUB Cadet and the machine just feels stronger and more powerful than this DR. The design on the belt system seems like junk to me.

I adjusted the belt and the issue popped up again. The machine has about 1 hour of use so not sure if the belt got damaged that quick. I got rid of it and kept my Cub Cadet Trimmer.
