If your KitchenAid tilt-head mixer jumps, bounces, and scoots across your counter, there is an easy fix! With a few simple adjustments, you can save yourself from having to buy a new mixer. My mixer is close to 20 years old and I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. I've put a lot of miles on it lately and have been having issues with it jumping and scooting when I mixed heavy bread doughs. I'm happy to say that with a few adjustments with a screwdriver, my mixer handles the heavy bread dough MUCH better! It's not perfect, but I'm happy that I can put off spending hundreds of dollars on a new one - at least for a little while longer!

It's best not to hammer the "button" or hinge pin. That screw under the base is screwing into the hinge pin to secure it. When you hammer it, you could be damaging the pin or the screw. It's best to unscrew the screw a 1/2 turn. Center the hinge pin with your fingers (no need for a hammer) and then tighten the screw. Hope this helps.

Next time use a wooded round piece or plastic dime

That's a great idea! The trouble is finding something the same thickness as the dime. The dime is the perfect height for the adjustment.

I just got my mixer and used it today for the second time. It's making a clicking sound. Have you ever experienced this? I'm calling the company about this but was wondering if you're familiar with this issue.

I'm not familiar. I would definitely call, it shouldn't be clicking already! Does it sound like it's in the motor or is the head wobbling?

@@MaggiesMusings It does a little wobbling while kneading dough (maybe that's normal?) Anyway, I called KitchenAid about the clicking noise and was told to email a video of the problem.

Mine wobbles with heavy dough - even after adjusting it. Mine is 20 years old and I think it's time to retire. The bowl plate needs replacing and I think I'm just going to see about getting a new one. I have really put a lot of miles on it! Lol

@@Sam___Smith I ended up calling Kitchen Aid and the person walked me through the procedure of adjusting the screw and doing the dime test. I suggest calling them.
