If your KitchenAid tilt-head mixer jumps, bounces, and scoots across your counter, there is an easy fix! With a few simple adjustments, you can save yourself from having to buy a new mixer. My mixer is close to 20 years old and I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. I've put a lot of miles on it lately and have been having issues with it jumping and scooting when I mixed heavy bread doughs. I'm happy to say that with a few adjustments with a screwdriver, my mixer handles the heavy bread dough MUCH better! It's not perfect, but I'm happy that I can put off spending hundreds of dollars on a new one - at least for a little while longer!
I hope that you find that this works for you. Leave me a comment and let me know!

Thank you!!!!! I had tightened down the height screw trying to fix the shaking and it made things much worse. Who knew about that deep underside screw? But it did the trick and I got the height readjusted. Perfect!

It's best not to hammer the "button" or hinge pin. That screw under the base is screwing into the hinge pin to secure it. When you hammer it, you could be damaging the pin or the screw. It's best to unscrew the screw a 1/2 turn. Center the hinge pin with your fingers (no need for a hammer) and then tighten the screw. Hope this helps.

Very good point. I did this myself, and it's centered perfectly with ease.

My free "rescued from the junk pile" mixer is up n' running in tip top condition now. Sad to think someone probably tossed it out because of it's bouncing. Thanks for this very helpful video, will save it in case I need to do this again someday, and I may forget.

Handiest. Video. Ever. The bundle people can save themselves avoiding replacing a perfectly good, working machine. Not to mention so much less wasteful! This is so useful Maggie, thank you!!

Thanks, Susan! My mixer is so old! I think it's about 20 years old! I'm kind of attached to it, so I'm glad I was able to tweak it a bit.

My husband drug home a Kitchenaid stand mixer he dug out of the scrap pile. It wobbled and bounced around. I did both the things she showed us in this video, and poof, no more bouncing. Sad to think someone probably threw it away because of this. Now I have a nice mixer that's gonna get a fancy paint job, and will probably last for many years.

That's a great idea! The trouble is finding something the same thickness as the dime. The dime is the perfect height for the adjustment.
