It's flexibiity and core strength that's lacking. Professional pole dancers for instance are not muscular but their limbs are strong where it matters for what they do. Mark isn't in bad shape, he just lacks the practiced inner muscles for this thing.

Lack of core streangth is a big player. It takes time to develop flexibility, but part of that is wearing the right clothes. The right clothes actually make a huge difference. It's partially a psychological thing, but it does also help physically.
