I been using mouse accel for more than 10 years now, I tried switching it off a couple of times but i just cant. Its too good for me, once you're used to it, it really helps cause you can do a 360 with little movement if you just move fast but you can also be acurate by slowly adjusting your crosshair.

I also use a trackball mouse, and I used it for most of my tf2 gameplay. I personally play as spy most of the time, and if you have mouse acceleration and your sensitivity very low, you can still aim with it with your revolver, but the acceleration still allows you to do fancy trick stabs. I've taken your steps with the trackball mouse and I've had to kick my sensitivity up from 2 to 3.5 in tf2 to compensate. I still have the ability to trick stab, it will take some getting used to, but aiming has become so much easier.

I think a lot of Snipers need to learn that bodyshotting is okay. While we all despise the rookie Snipers that refuse to shoot you in the head, if a Scout runs at you and he's right up in your face, the likelihood that you are going to get a headshot on him is fairly low.

Yamikage Takara I think melee is one of the best tools in the game. I can go Engie and place a sentry down, watch over it, get a fair amount of kills, but if I just take out my wrench and run to the objective, it is nearly guaranteed that I will get someone. I think most people underestimate the default melee weapons, and generally just kind of freak out when they start to get pinned down. But yeah, SMG is pretty useful.

I use almost all of these techniques already, but I have another that can really help. If you have/are used to using high mouse sensitivity, a good way to make very small movements and keep the crosshair on the same level is to simply move around a bit, right or left. Makes a world of difference when sniper dueling and from long distances, as long as you can survive at a slower pace when needed.

This is an older video but I still feel the need to unpack how I felt about learning to aim in TF2 specifically, been playing since 2012 or so (can't remember exact year but definitely around that range.) and have struggled since the very beginning, I still struggle today just... not AS much. Also been a huge fan of your videos since I've started getting into TF2, and I also admire how you seem to make everything look so easy when I look at any of your gameplay. I've pretty much tried everything under the sun in order to improve in any sort of way, such as using certain training maps or adjusting sensitivity, and even just generally practicing over long periods of time. It's 2021 now, not much has changed, for a little insight on how much I struggle to hit my enemies I actually have issues using even the pyro's flamethrower or a minigun. As far as splash damage is concerned, I just have to pray to my lucky stars that I don't kill myself in the process of trying to shoot the ground at people's feet. It's a miracle I even stuck with TF2 for this long, since I really want to continue enjoying the game but these days I just find myself discontent with trying anymore. I don't expect much response to this comment, but it would be cool if you gave some advice to a long-time player who is burnt out on trying since it seems to be affecting my mental health.

+TheEndiPL I recommend getting a mouse with customizable dpi (such as the Razer Deathadder 2013. Up to 6400 dpi.) And maxing it or setting it really high. Personally I use 800 dpi and 1.4 ingame sens and it's perfect for me.

There is no highest sensitivity that I know of. You can not only change it by moving the meter up, but you can click on the number and edit it from there.

Mouse acceleration can actually help improve your aim a lot if you learn to get used to it, at least for classes like soldier, demo and scout. For sniper it might be a worse idea though. It takes more time to develop your muscle memory using acceleration since both the distance and the movement speed of the mouse becomes important. After that you get a much higher degree of control of finer movements since you can play with a much lower sensitivity than you otherwise you be able to. Larger movements will be no problem either due to the acceleration. To keep the sensitivity down is a good advice, I think, especially combined with mouse acc, Then, of course, there is a limit where the sensitiviy will be too low as well and make you too slow in your movements. One always has to balance control vs speed. For soldier I think mouse acc. is a very good idea. I have around 4500 hours as soldier and have played a lot both with and without acceleration. Without acceleration I have to find a mouse sensitivity low enought for me to have decent aim with the shotgun, high enough for fast flick rocket jumps. With acceleration I don't have to compromise, I can use a low sens and have perfect shotgun aim and still do quick rocket jumps due to the acceleration. Another thing. The windows acceleration should never be used. The in game acceleration also has some problems, since it is fps dependent. One wants predictable acceleration. I use some tool quake live players use (called moufltr or something like that). There you can get fps independent acceleration and have great control over several parameters controling the nature of the acceleration..

I would say that for practicing aim and learning predicting, tf_fort is the best choice, since there are only 4 entrances to other bases and also snipers end up in same spots. This helps You a lot to remembering where to aim and it will improve Your abilities.

you can use zoom_sensitivity to chance the ratio of the normal sense to zoom sense so that when you zoom in its slower if your sense is 2 using zoom_sensitivity 0.5 will change your zoom sensitivity to 1 (the zoom sensitivity value is multiplied by the normal sense value) forgot to mention that this lets you play fast pace classes like scout that need a bit of a higher sense while still being able to have lots of control while zoomed in

When he talks about hardware acceleration, here's a bit of clarification: Most laser mice have hardware acceleration. It's just a flaw in the sensor. The only perfectly accurate laser sensor is the Phillips Twin-Eye, which is notorious for having an issue where, when you lift it up, the cursor jumps. However, hardware acceleration is generally very minute and is barely noticable. As a general rule, optical sensors (little red light) have no hardware acceleration, meaning the Deathadder, the G400, etc. have perfect sensors. However, some software also puts other things in. For instance, the Deathadder used to have firmware that forced a flaw on the sensor (I believe it was angle-snapping, where the sensor automatically corrects the path a bit, making straight lines easy, but getting perfect headshots impossible)

LazyPurple Couple of questions: Why do you rush as a sniper? And do you have any tips on rushing as a sniper in team fortress 2 because I rush alot on tf2 but people always seem to say that it is a noob thing to do so I just stopped rushing

I love tf2 and Thanks for the tips but does this happen to others?: It takes a lot of time to join a server. Might Not be like one hour but for me, it takes like 20 minutes. Its not only on tf2, it ALSO happened in gmod and mostly in source Or valve games. Thanks again for The tips. :3

zach finkle Also, my game loads known servers faster than unknown servers. (i.e.: I enter a server called Poop land, I leave it, next day I enter the server again and it loads faster. The next day I enter a server called Yolo, and it takes longer.)

Try join servers with low pings if you don't already, I find loads of players don't understand that server lag is caused by their pings, when you are in the server list, look for the number in the column "Latency". You want that to be as low as possible, but anything under 100 is decent. If you start getting over 150, then it's a problem. To check your ping in-game, just hold tab, find your name on the scoreboard and look in the Ping column. Alternatively, get a better internet.
