How to apply Cromax Clear in 1.5 coats

With this one time visit application should I expect material savings? Also is there enough material to properly denib and buff? I love my supernova ws400 but I cannot spray it full fan. It is painfully slow. I shoot the chroma premier 74700 s and it recommends a 5 minute flash. Guess this process is not for me. However I love the process and your videos keep it up.

Hi Clayton, the clear you refer to is not one we have in Europe. Howver, if it is designed to be sprayed in 1.5 coats (check TDS) it will have sufficient film build to allow for nibbing and polishing.

What's the difference between using the 8180 and 8035 clear and its performance and benefits of the 8035 as a complete paint job with slow hardner

Hi, 8180 is not a clear that we know in EU so it's difficult to comment on it's performance relative to other products, particularly as 8035 is not a Cromax clear.

Can you do a video on a LE8700S clear? Been a few months since my shop switched over...love the camera...love the base coat system...but really starting to hate chromax clear coats to be honest. The other clear I use is 5100 which works for small jobs. 8700 goes on like glass but after a minute starts getting orange peely on me..I've tried all kinds of gun settings...wait times between coats...booth temps..always the same result. Are bake on the booth is broken and I doubt the my boss will ever fix it...could this be why as I'm told 8700 is a bake clear. What other option for clear in canada for completes you guys have?

This method is primarily for HS VOC compliant clears. These are solvent based products but wih lower VOC's compare to more traditional MS Clears.

Hi, thanks for the question. There are a number of clears within the Cromax portfolio that would suit your requirements such as CC6400, designed to be applied in 2 single coats with intermediate flash off or CC6600 which can be applied in either 1.5 coats in a continuous process or 2 coats with intermediate flash off depending upon your preference. Before choosing though I would suggest you check the TDS of each clear to ensure compatability with the basecoat you are using.

I spray axalta, 8096.. using a x5500 RP 1.2- O nozzle. I'm satisfied with my results but always looking to improve material usage and texture match.. what would x5500 setup did you find worked best, in your opinion, with the 8096 clearcoat?. I'm even open to trying a different gun.. just picking your brain a little.

Hi, I'm afraid 8096 is a product that we do not have in the European market. However, when using a Sata x5500 I normally choose a 1.2O for lower viscosity clears 16-18 secs Din4 viscosity and move to a 1.3O for higher viscosity clears. I hope that helps a little.

Your r moving the gun during the clear so wrong....the gun supposed to be at 90% degree angle

The gun should be kept perpendicular to the object being painted. The slight adjustments are to compensate for the slightly complex shapes present on this car.
