I am learning so so much on your channel! Thank you for doing all of this :) I learned more from your videos than I did in my nail class (it was only a two day class, but still), like sanitation, not reusing files, capping the free edge with short nails, how to use the drill better and more efficient. Looking forward to learn more as you post more videos :) Also really want to know how high the apex should be when the extension is short vs long, cause the nails I put on my step-mother-in law broke when she changed her sheets, and those were relatively short. a little less than a quarter of an inch outside the fingertip.

As someone who keeps their nails short, is quite active in/outdoors with my 3 kids, I used to go to the salon every 3rd, sometimes 4th week. This was back when there wasn't much gels available, especially here in Alaska! The place I was going to had a gentleman who was extremely adept at the application of acrylics, but he retired & the new guy (family owned business, his son, daughter, & wife also worked together) had an issue with "buffing" my nails after removing the old acrylic down to the quick!!! I once lost almost 3/4 of my thumbnail because of that, of course I haven't had my nails done since, roughly 20yrs ago & single no kids. Seeing these types of videos, I think I'd like to get certified so I can do other's nails along with my own, legally, properly, & professionally with the best tools available. I'm curious, whether or not I should start with gels or acrylics? Thanks to The Nail Hub, I'm learning tons also! I only own about 100 different shades/brands/finishes of nail polishes, files, etc I think it's time to upgrade. Thanks for sharing & have a great day today!

I swear this man is afraid to get anything on his hands but concrete.. so he should be using cream bc I have seen him get some pretty wicked concrete burns and they are so deep.. my daughter was in the NICU so he'd put latex gloves on and you could literally see the glove down in the hole of the burn 😮.. pretty crazy how it can burn the skin

Thank you Liz. I always felt clients would not get the one nail at a time method so I didn't do it. Now that I see you have done it and how successful it is I realise it's not going to look bad or unprofessional. TYSM! I will put it into practice. One little tip if you want to see for yourself concerning capping that I learnt. I was told if a nail is very thin you can get away with capping really well just once with the colour coat meaning you can skip on the 2nd colour coat. This will avoid thick nail tips. Also when capping, instead of applying on nail surface first, I cap then I apply on entire nail. This really helps avoid the thick tip. CND teaches this and it has helped me. Just an idea for anyone wanting to try.😊

I didn't even feel the panic or anything of the sort while listening to your calming voice. For DIY-ers it’s difficult to cure each finger and paint another at the same time. I still think it’s a good idea because no matter how careful I am with the wet nails, I still damage. Curing one by one may take a bit more time for DYI but I think it’s worth it.

I've learned that buffing the nails prior to applying gel polish is so that it has something to adhere to. Back when I had my nails done at least once monthly with acrylic 20yrs ago, same principles. I stopped because of almost losing an entire thumbnail to an overly zealous buffing session!

After watching your video I'm a little bit in shock because of what my nails have been through. Earlier this year I had my first experience with gel nails and the technician broke out a multi-tool (or dremel) and sanded my nail plate down to virtually nothing and they're super bendy and flimsy to begin with. I noticed after a while my fingers hurt, and after I removed the gel myself a while later when it was starting to grow out, I had splinters of dried blood. Pressure on my hands hurt and it took a good six months for the damage to grow out. When I look at yours in contrast where you're using a buffing tool, I can't believe these people are still in business. I refused to get a top up on my nails or to go back again because of the amount of damage caused. Thank you for doing this video and educating me, I'll be sure to be super careful on who I pick to do my nails in the future if I ever have the guts to try again.
