One week with DKL and I'm never going back to regular. Install is a little more tedious but I've got the technique down and it will be a lot easier next time. Trick is, sharp razor and cut further in on the edge of the board.... Making sure not to leave a high ridge. I held the razor at the like a 60 degree angle and created a uniform beveled edge. So far, it's not peeling off whatsoever and I don't think it will. Awesome product 🤘

I have skated my DKL so much this summer, that I have worn through the griptape and I have three big areas where the wood of the board is peeking through the grip tape, so the grip tape wont last forever with hard skating, but it's still definitely worth it. My shoes have stayed fresh the entire summer, and I haven't even ripped a pair of shoe laces. The only REAL downside with the DKL grip imo is that it isn't optimal when it's a bit wet outside! :-P

Just ordered some yesterday. I've been wanting to get back into skating a little bit, but I guess I'm getting old because every time I jump on a board I stop after one ollie or kickflip because I don't want to ruin my everyday shoes. I used to shred my shoes with the quickness back when I was a kid. Shoe Goo to the rescue! ;) Now I've got a gaggle of my own kids and they burn through shoes like it's going out of style without even doing any skateboarding. I saw you guys featured on Braille and read some reviews. Now I'm super stoked to grip a new deck with DKL and get out there skating with the kids.

I'm on my second sheet install and I've got it down to a science!! What do you guys think about me filming an install video for you? If people apply it correctly the tape doesn't want to peel... @@dklskateboarding I have a sheet on order arriving this week... Only thing is, I'm putting it on a used deck. I got my son some Vans Ave pro and he's learning Ollie. He's already worn the rubber around the toe down to the suede. So I told him he's switching griptape. His board is in decent shape, just not brand new. I just went over a slightly used deck of mine (edges were in good shape, so is his) and it turned out very nice. So my question... Would it be worth filming a tutorial with used deck or would it only be interesting if new? Does that seem arbitrary? LMAO. I'm super stoked on the product and really like helping others enjoy something so rad! It seems like an Injustice if someone installs incorrectly then gives DKL a bad review... It'll never take off 🤷‍♂️

You should do a vid on how to use that file the right way... with that double tap i cant get a good line, mines all jaggedy... possibly even how to do cut outs for the screw holes... but hey, as long as the shoes dont get mest up!

I’m gonna order another I love this stuff but I messed up the gripping for some reason the nose and tail side of the grip tape has peeled up and is very rough but next time I grip this I’m gonna make sure I have a super sharp blade

Thanks to Braille I just got mine, and im excited to use it! Im just confused why i should sand/file it down around the edges. Does it help reduce the chances of it peeling off? I also wish this tutorial would specify just how much you should sand it down, and what to look out for

hi I am a really big fan of the griptape i like it alot, i have been using it for months but i have some problems with and was wonder if you could help me. problem number 1 the edges started peeling over time and i trimmed it and used the tool to sand it down but it still peeled and problem number 2 is after 2-3 months it started losing its grip :( please help thank you edit i am geting a new sheet and deck soon so it would really help to get some advice really fast

its been a month since i used the DKL GEN 7 griptape, for me its a clear answer that i will never go back to regular sandpaper griptape anymore. FS180 became consistent and i can finnaly skate expensive shoes! absolute life saver. But is there a way to do art on the griptape? i am used to having graphics so that i know where is my nose and tail

we have logo grips available, otherwise you can definitely do grip art. Just try to put it where you don't flick as much so it won't rub off eventually

Won't a drill risk making the holes in the wood too large? I applied without a drill and really messed up the bolts because the rubber lifted up around the bolts and I can't tell if the bolts are flush with the tape. I had to try to trim around the holes but it's still a bit bumpy and it's actually ruining my new shoes just as fast as normal griptape :/ I love the DKL tape but I wish I trimmed holes for the bolts first.

@@hawkwind769 it's great. It's really grippy; felt like it had no grip at first but i did a few ollies and was amazed. If the surface gets wet you lose the grip though. But i don't skate in the rain so not a problem. No significant peeling aside from the tail did get a little tad lift.. about 0.5cm but that might have been that tail drag my sibling did when testing the grip. It's holding great, i ordered 3 more. One for my sibling and 2 more for future boards. One last thing, the saving the shoe part was very noticeable. Normally i'd get a hole after a few sessions but so far no hole or cuff marks. I can take 1 pair of shoes instead of having to switch out when i want to skate. Would recommend 10/10

@@ForsakenPixel yes it's really awesome! I use a razor and trim the tape back at least an eighth on an inch around the edge. Also pay attention to bevel the edge. If you hold the razor at the right angle coming off the edge of the board, it'll shave the rubber at an angle. So that it tapers up at a very mellow slope. I can not detect any transition at where the wood meets the tape. If there's any lip to the tape, it will peel up eventually.

or i honestly hope this company will make rubber paste tubes to be smeared over the abrasive deck grip because i sometimes hear the non abrasive griptape cant be cut off smoothly along the deck's edge.

Interesting idea.. there is a such thing as Plasti Dip, my initial thought I'd it would be too smooth after it dries but I wonder if maybe mixing in some aggregate to give it some texture would be possible 🤔

Yes, watch till the end Tip #7. Added advantage of rubber is that it's super easy to clean, simply wipe with a damp rag for a Fresh Grip again

oHAWKWINDo shouldn’t affect it if it’s been removed well, best tips are covered in the video but spend time making sure you’ve covered every area of the edges to prevent peeling
