Just got mine - Tusk must be cutting corners these days I followed the included instruction paper (just like the one in the video, however it's now in black and white). The problem is that Tusk does not ship with the four bearings installed onto the two arms (as in this video) and there are no instructions for installing the four bearings. Finally figured it out and got them installed (takes two washers and a lock washer). Secondly, the alignment arm bolt was ALSO NOT INSTALLED in to the left side arm slot. Also the alignment arm rod is too thick to fit through the hole on the threaded arm holder. Pretty disappointed considering I could have bought the Harbor Freight model for half the cost and probably gotten the same poor quality, unfinished assembly and lack of correct instructions for under half the price of this item.

Wow I’m sorry to hear that. Like I mentioned in the video. I got mine from a lady that buys pallets of open box items from places and this is how it came in the box.

My Tusk stand just came in and i have the exact same issues as you. How did you get the alignment arm installed?

Count me as a fourth frustrated owner of this stand. The instructions are pathetic. Incomplete and assuming you know where the lock washers go or how the bearings are attached to the uprights. My alignment arm finally fit through the hole but still don't know how to affix it to the left side upright. Men are notorious for not reading directions but some of us prefer to give that a fair attempt before breaking out the ball peen hammer. JK.

@@osimnod I reached out to Rocky Mountain and they admitted it wasn't the best-designed unit but the black plate must go inside the tube. There is no nut required to tighten, just the truing arm piece screws into it. You might want to tighten it with a wheel attached since there is no adjustment and once it's tight that's it. Not a very good design if you ask me but it served its purpose.

@@PASSIONBUILT Yes, I currently have the Counteract balance beads in my SV tires. I only put about 400 miles on the bike since I got it on the road but Im honestly happy.

Do you know what size bearings those are? Mine came without them, and google is no help

I’m honestly not sure. They look like standard skateboard bearings. Go to your local skate shop and grab a set of Bones Reds. I bet they’ll fit.

@@PASSIONBUILT yeh, those skateboard bearings work. I was doing a bit of research, and skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters all use ( mostly) variations of 608 bearings which use an 8mm shaft. They’re rated ABEC 1-9; higher number= higher quality.maybe my google query is not strong, but I had trouble finding this until I was on a motorcycle truing stand diy forum. Apparently I wasted $ again buying a stand😂. Imagine that, me wasting money because of motorcycles lol

Those tools don't get the job done lol. Need two 17 mm wrenches. Two 14mm wrenches. A 13mm wrench. For the truing needle you'll need a 5 or 6 Allen. The 3 Allen is for the cones and retaining collars on the balance shaft. Literally assembling one as we go. I'm sure that they're having problems with supply chains like everyone else. But the hardware included definitely required differently tools

That’s odd. I’m wondering if they’re having problems getting the correct hardware for their own kits. Anywhere you look online. Including the assembly PDF I have linked below shows the tools I mentioned in this video.

@@PASSIONBUILT I did mention that possibility. It definitely makes sense. I would include pictures if I could. Still got it set up and already used it for me rear wheel. Not a bad stand for 80$.

Your unit is the same as mine (just bought 8/2023) -- needs 17 mm for the nuts and bolts for the uprights. 5 mm Allen for the alignment arm. Tusk dropped the ball on this one when they are usually spot on. I've added their Universal fit secondary fans to my KTM 640 Adventure(s) as they are notorious for over-heating and the extra fan really helps manage the engine temps here in NoCal. Set it with the digital indicator directly wired to your battery and it works as advertised.
