Life saver, the rim of my GS1200 was in very bad shape but I managed to true it thanks to your illustration. You saved me a fortune. Thank you, Sir!

RK Excel makes a torque wrench kit, it’s registered in inch pounds, not the foot pounds he’s talking about Typical inch pound torque is between 40 and 55 inch pounds, Weel offset is critical. Offset is the distance the factory specs for the wheels to track properly, measured from the center of the rim to a hub flange, using straight edges, this information is hard to find therefore you should take measurements on a healthy wheel so you can replicate those measurements to your wheel, if you don’t worry about this you may find that your chain drags against your tire and the bike will handle funny I E pull to one side or the other. We owned a BSA /Bridgestone/three or four more type bikes , I attended the last Bsa service school 1971 Buchanans spoke company may be able to help you out with offset information. On your hubs there is usually inside and outside spokes, also known as heads up our heads down spoke locations. The inside spokes have more effect on hump of the wheel and the outside spokes have more Effect on Rim wobble ,something to think about.

Thank You for this great video, from watching it I've learnt how to true my rear motocross wheel from wobbling egg - to round and no wobble after changing all my spokes

Hi, thank you for the video, how do you know how to apply 4.5 pounds of preassure on the spokes at the end?

My front wheel on my motorcycle is facing on the left side, willl loosening all the spokes and retightening and tuning it will center my front wheel again?
@driverjeff14985 жыл бұрын
You start with all the spokes loose. Should I loosen all of mine before starting?

One pointer, you always want to true a wheel based on the bead seating area rather than the outer edge, the reason being pretty obvious. You'll see especially some vintage wheels with less perfect manufacturing that have a variance between the bead seat and the outer lip, so truing on the edge will be counterproductive.

Thanks for the comment. I'll compare these two different surfaces the next time I true one. I've done a bunch of these over the years and my mentor has done hundreds at his dealership the same way without an issue, but you raise a good point - one that I can't answer. The side to side run-out cannot be done any other way. Again, thanks for commenting - Gordon/RTS

also if wheel is bent out on outer edge this will also give false readings. This is the case with alot of off road wheels

If my bike is lifted can I do this to the front wheel without removing it?
@RRRToolSolutions16 жыл бұрын
Ivan, I've never done it on a mounted tire. In theory, you should be able to lift the front off the ground (please be sure it's well supported for safety) then let all of the air out of the tube so the spoke nipples can turn beneath the rim strip. Remember, no more that 4 lbs and go slow. I've seen rims ruined by pulling them too far out-of-round. Thanks for commenting, Gordon

How true does an enduro wheel have to be? I can't for the life of me get the last few bumps out of my rim, there's always a couple of higher spots (1-3mm) that won't go away
@lildeanc3 жыл бұрын
It has to be true. Not a lie.
@babar69110 Жыл бұрын
you should see mines, big flats, and maybe 5 mm in some places. I really don't give s**t about it no more... green or yellow stripes knobbies, low pressure, here we go... I just check if some spokes are loosed and they are all crossed zip locked for safety...( once I got eleven broken spokes on rear wheel (house of cards process) on a yamTTR and I just figured it out when, turning left, bike was drifting :)
