Great stuff, I’ve a loose fence panel that’s been screwed into brick pillars plus a leaking shed roof to refelt, learnt how to do both in about 30 mins watching your vids this morning. Will go through your other vids for the countless other jobs I’ve let build up with no idea how to do. Cheers

It's so easy with these concrete screws, I would advise drilling the hole slightly smaller first and test the screw in the hole, then if you need to enlarge it slightly you can!

Cool vid buddy. I've used concrete screws a coupla times in the house. When you asked your question, my brain still thought firstly of hammer-in fisher-fixings. Yeah concrete screws for the Win !

Good tip there on using torque wrench for final tighten of screws,I have used impact driver before all the way and it pushed the wood away from the wall so I know what to do now in future,thank you

I've never heard of concrete screws. I've always used rawl plugs. Definitely going to get some as I've got some french cleats to attach to the wall.

These concrete screws are brilliant, just make sure you use the correct size drill bit. Here's a link to the ones I've used amzn.to/3WFjr51

Great advice and useful video! When mounting the wood and drilling the holes, what's the best way of stopping the wood moving out of place before you install the fixings?
@FixitwithFowler5 ай бұрын
If you pilot the wood first the you can line it up and drill the middle fixing first. Then, loosely fix that in place, which allows you to pivot the wood and drill the other fixings without removing the wood each time.

@@FixitwithFowler Thanks for the advice. Didn't think about doing that but it makes sense. Will try that in future.

Hi, very useful, how far did you drill into the brickwork.
@FixitwithFowler7 ай бұрын
Hi, the drill depth was 110 mm. That includes 40mm in the timber, which gives a fixing of 60mm in the brick with 10mm allowance at the end of the fixing.
@stevemo33187 ай бұрын
Hi would 40mm into the brick be sufficient?
@FixitwithFowler7 ай бұрын
Hi, Bricks are 100mm thick, so I would recommend going at least halfway through. I suppose it depends on what you are fixing to the brick.
@stevemo33187 ай бұрын
Hi Steve makes perfect sense thanks!

Hi Steve, would those screws also be the right ones for hanging basket brackets (into brick)?
@FixitwithFowler7 ай бұрын
You could use shorter ones. They come in loads of different lengths! The concrete screws are so easy to install!

I love watching cowboy builders on KZbin. Not a clue as to how to fix timber to brick most of them. Yes drill right through timber into brick with your masonry bit but then drill a CLEARANCE hole through the timber! The timber will never pull down tight onto the wall because the fixing was gripping the wood as well. Me? No I'm not a builder, I'm far too skilled and intelligent to do that kind of work, I'm a yacht builder and if I built yachts the way some of you lot build houses they'd sink!

No plugs needed at all? Silly question perhaps from a beginner DIY'er from the Netherlands.
@FixitwithFowler7 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's correct. There are no plugs at all. The concrete screws create the thread in the brick. It's great to hear from the Netherlands!
